Lesson One: Second Year Empty Lesson One: Second Year

Post by Angel Valentine Wed Feb 15, 2012 2:13 pm

She took a look at the class that was finally hers. Last year Professor Romaine basically dictated her class from start to finish. Now, now she heard there were more applicants for her class and she was happy about that. Muggle Studies was very important because ignorance about Muggles always frustrated her because they were the roots of discrimination.

Now in this class interaction between other houses was important and so she did so. All houses had to mingle in her classroom, it was mandatory.

Pxyis entered the classroom and beamed when she noticed that she was the first to arrive. She took a seat in the middle of the classroom and placed her bag down next to her, before setting up everything for her class. She opened the textbook and flipped open to the page she had previously been on- computers.

She found computers fascinating, the sounded like a lot of fun and she wished she could have one. But, her parents had been mad enough when they found out about her phone, she wasn't going to push it that far.

Leshia was glad they had a teacher this term. Last term there was no teacher so it was practically nothing to do for this hour

Walking into the class she saw Pxyis sitting there, unlike her sister she did not have any problems with her.

"Hey Pxyis can I sit here next to you?" Leshia sat down but would move if she was was not welcome there or if she was saving the seat for someone else.

Looking over she noticed she had the page turned on computers.

"Are we going to learn about computers today?"

Lesson One: Second Year Empty Re: Lesson One: Second Year

Victoria hadn't taken this class last year, but was really intrigued to see how wizards viewed her world. She knew she wouldn't have a problem knowing what things were, but wondered how the other students, purebloods especially, would react to things.

She was happy to be on time. Noticing the other two girls sitting together, she took a seat at the table next to them, not wanting to seem like a prude by sitting far away.

Victoria overheard Leshia ask about computers and started to smile. Hopefully this class will be really easy! Honestly, though, she was hoping for a new challenge.

Lesson One: Second Year Empty Re: Lesson One: Second Year

She chose to take this class for a very clear reason: she was ignorant towards the Muggle World. Her best friend was a Muggleborn and she was interested in things very easily. Victoria had shown her things like a cellphone and she found that as fantastic and she needed to know more about it.

Seeing that Victoria was there, she walked over and sat beside her.

"Hey!" she whispered.

She knew that she would need help and it was perfect that Victoria was here.

Seeing that one of the last students entered her classroom, she figured that her class should start. She decided that for Muggle Studies she could not use too much magic, but make it as Muggle as possible.

"In my classroom, we will teach in a sort of Muggle lifestyle. I will try to limit myself from using magic, but some parts are necessary. Now wants will not be used by you at all, and you shall raise your hand to answer questions, is that clear?"

She picked up the chalk, something she wasn't really that used to and began to write the lesson of the day: Cars.

"Transportation is a very interesting subject within Muggle studies. Being a Scholar in the subject of the Muggle world, I must tell you that transportation is as interesting in Muggle studies as they find our transportation in the fictional sense. Now can anyone tell me a few forms of transportations?"

Even though Leshia was not suppose to know about muggle she knew a lot of things. She did get out of the house quite a lot.

"Professor Valentine, some forms are: Airplane, Trains, Cars."

Leshia was pretty sure she was right but waited for confirmation.

Victoria was happy to see that Leisha knew some things about muggles. It always surprised her when a fellow classmate did. It made her feel special in a way, like they were studying her own kind, even though she was now considered a witch.

She raised her hand to add to the answer. "There are also many different kinds that fall under those, like motorcycles and bicycles. Another difference is that they don't simply Apparate to places if they don't have a broom. Many muggles that live in big cities opt not to have a car and just walk everywhere for convenience."

Victoria wasn't from a big city, but had visited New York many times to see shows on Broadway and visit historical places. It always intrigued her that some people really didn't own a car because it was more cumbersome that walking.

Angel let out a rare smile seeing that students were paying attention and were either doing the reading, or had some sort of experience in the Muggle world.

"Very good, five points for Ravenclaw and Gryffindor!" she said.

Walking around, she projected pictures of cars, planes, motorcycles, trains and subway trains.

"These objects are a form of transportation similar to our Floo Network. Now, can anyone tell me what they run on, someone different?" she asked.

She looked around her classroom hoping someone new would answer. They could not simply stay quiet throughout the class.

She looked around and inwardly groaned seeing that it was either her or Pxyis that had to answer. The problem was that she didn't know?! Everything ran on magic or animal strength in their world.

Biting her bottom lip she raised her hand tentatively to respond.

"Electricity?"

She didn't remember much about last year's Muggle Studies, but she did remember how she learned about light bulbs so she took a wild guess. Hopefully she wouldn't lose points for her stupid answer.

She smiled seeing that Miss McCartney, in her first lesson had tried to answer the question. If she was more open and had a more extrovert sense of humor, would have laughed at the look of surprise that she was one of only two that hadn't spoken in class.

"Good guess Miss McCartney. Indeed some cars do run on electricity, but that is recent. Five points for trying. Now students since no one new managed to answer it with the answer I was expecting, I do have an assignment that I expect completed during this break."

Walking behind her desk, she opened the drawer and took out a book.

"Using the history book under your desk, you will read it and write about the evolution of cars and how it affects society. You will answer my question in this essay as well and why they use that energy source. Class dismissed."
