First Year: 1st Lesson: Emptying Emotions Part I of III
Gaspard walked around his classroom, he really loved Hogwarts, it was so much nicer and more open and warm than his old school: Durmstrang. But anyone could quite clearly see that he still held to some things from his old school. The classroom was dark and slightly depressing.
The classroom had no tables and chairs. You needed to stand and be on your feet when you learned about Occlumency. Gaspard didn't even have a desk. There was no furniture, and if it weren't so neat and clean, people would have confused it being an abandoned classroom. Gaspard like things neat, and he liked doing things in the way he was taught. If he was the best at doing this, then maybe he could help his students at being the best as well.
Looking at his watch, he saw that it was almost time. He walked to the back of the class and stood in front of the ancient window that overlooked the lake. It was times like this that he remembered his wife. She was lucky to have gone to this school.
He missed her.
Gaspard didn't even turn as his first student entered the room.

Tessa walked in the classroom. She wondered if she found it, or maybe it was an empty classroom. But she just stood there, she hoped that she wasn't the only student that was taking Occlumency.

Gaspard took a deep breath and turned around, and smiled at his first year student. A Gryffindor.
"Good day Miss. Grey, and to answer your question, no. You are not the only one taking Occlumency."

Tessa smiled a little bit. " Hello Professor Dupont."
She was glad that she wasn't going to be the only first year.

Gaspard nodded again, "But if the rest of your classmates don't show up soon, I'm afraid you will be the one taking this class alone. But don't fret Miss. Grey, I prefer teaching my students without them being distracted. You will learn faster."

Tessa nodded her head, for some reason she was nervous that she would have this lesson by herself.
But then she rememeber that the Professor would have more time to make sure that she was getting it right.

"Miss. Grey being the nervous is one of the last emotions I recommend you never have when learning Occlumency." Gaspard told her, while he walked in the middle of the empty classroom. "We will start with the basics, emptying one's emotions. Are you ready to begin Miss. Grey?"

Tessa nodded her head, she had to try and make herself less nervous.
She then slowly walked to the middle of the room. Tessa was doing herself not to trip over anything. Once she made it she smiled. " Yes Professor I am ready."

"Very well, let's begin." Gaspard said.
"Let's skip the book explanation. You need to empty yourself of emotions to block someone, of course there's thoughts and memories, but for now we will only do emotions, begin."

Tessa smiled, it sounded simple and she could do it.
" How do I empty myself of emotions?"

"An excellent question Miss. Grey." Gaspard smiled, "Too empty yourself of one's emotions is too feel nothing at all. Nothing whatsoever. Like the muggles like to say, like a zombie. Be nothing, feel nothing, think nothing."

Tessa smiled, it sounded so easy. But she had a feeling that it wasn't.
" So think like a zombie?" She was trying not to confuse herself.

Gaspard nodded, "It does sound easy, but it's not, it takes a lot of practice, some are lucky to empty one's emotion at the first try, some are not."
He walked around her, "Yes, think like a zombie. They don't think, they just feed."
Gaspard stopped in front of her, "Let's begin. Legilimens." His wand was out in a flash, not waiting for an answer.

Tessa took in a couple of deep breath. " I can do this."
She then stood there till she felt nothing.

His eyes were hollow. While he was inside her mind, and in the part of her brain there was no emotion, none whatsoever.
Five minutes passed and she was "empty".
He lowered his wand, "Very well done, Miss. Grey. Ten points to Gryffindor."

Tessa smiled. " Thank you professor."
So it wasn't as hard as she thought.

Xander stumbled into the classroom, utterly lost. He didn't want to interrupt, especially because it was just the professor and Tessa. He had hoped to slip in undetected but the classroom was DEFINITELY not set up for that.
"Sorry I'm late, Professor." He hung his head. He may have thought himself a cocky, untouchable git before school, but the little bit of experiences in his classes had taught him how dire it was missing part of a class. And on top of it all, he knew he was quite late.

"You may leave Miss. Grey. The only homework I give to you is to practice more. See you next class." Gaspard patted Miss. Grey shoulder and let her leave.
He turned to his Slytherin student, "Mr. Clarke, I'm happy you finally decided to join me! You're extremely late, class is over. I will be taking ten points away from Slytherin. If you may like I can teach Occlumency, you did show up, even though you were late, or do you prefer to wait till next class? Either way you have to bring me a 5,000 word essay about blocking one's emotions."

Tessa then carefully walked back over and grabbed her bag. She then slowly started to walk towards the door to leave.
