Darren sat by the lake and rolled up his jeans to his knee, and dipped them in the waters, and held up his book, and started humming the song.

"Where are you now, what are you doing?
Are you in this endless sky?
I realized for the first time
I've lost the things that have filled my heart till now
How much you supported me
How much you made me smile..." He sighed as he sung.

Briony walked along the side of the Willow Lake and she looked around, there was seemingly nobody there and she sat down on the bank of the lake, beneath the drooping bows of a willow tree, obscuring her from view. She didn't flintch however when she heard a voice.

As, the boy, as she could assume from his voice, sung to her Briony smirked a little and peeked her head around the curtain of tree's and grinned:

"You do know I'm here?"

He jumped when he heard the voice and fell into the lake with a loud splash., and he climbed to the water's surface and swam to the lake's edge and got out.

"Who are you?" He asked defensively, slightly afraid.

"And you should have made some sort of noise to make your presence known!"

Briony couldn't help but laugh out loud as the boy fell into the lake, it was such a stupid thing to do, but as he got out, looking slightly like a drowned rat she smirked a little and drew out her wand.

"Want me to dry you up or not kid?"

She asked, slightly defensive about the way he spoke to her.

"I am Briony Romain. Headmistress of Hogwarts. I assume you will be joining my establishment soon."

Shrugging Briony grinned: "I dont have to do anything."

"Uhh... I'd appreciate it... Thank you." He bowed a little.

"Oh. Hello headmistress... Uhh yehh... Hey... What's up." He muttered, and bowed to her a little, and sat down with his knee-down in the lake again.

"I could have had a heart attack!"

Briony grinned and she waved her wand slightly through the air, muttering a small spell which immediately dried the clothes of the young boy so that he wouldn't freeze to death out here.

"I'm not normally this nice. Don't get used to it."

Smirking she shrugged her shoulders again:

"It's my speciality, not being noticed, you'll get used to it. It's what's needed in times like these, not to be noticed."

"Thank you~ Miss!" He chimed, and took out the ocarina from his pocket, and shook it clear of water, before he blew into it a few times.

He placed the ocarina to his mouth, and blew gently, sending a clear resounding music through the forest, and after staring at it for awhile, he placed it back in his pocket.

"Headmistress! Try putting your legs in the lake! It is very comfortable!"

Briony looked a little bit warily at the boy as he took that instrument out of his pocket and she raised her eyebrow as he began to play it, he wasn't actually that bad...it was quite relaxing actually. So she rested against the tree and sighed softly.

"You're very talented."

Inching forward a little Briony took off her boots, and slipped her feet into the water, it was cold, but she found it quite refreshing.

"The water is nice..."

Briony turned to look at the boy, a small smirk on her face: "What is your name?"

"Thank you..." He muttered and kicked the water, sending water and little ripples across the surface of the water.

"Oh... You're married... A very nice husband I see..." He said, reading her mind but not looking up at her, and he held the ocarina tightly.

"I am Darren... Hello, Mrs Romain..."

Briony didn't really pay much attention to the boy and what he was doing until he said that she was married, her eyes flashed. The only way that he would know that is if he had been to Hogwarts before or met her husband personally, which she doubted.

"I'm guessing you gained that information from the ring on my finger...? Not some other means?"

She asked, warningly.

Nodding her head Briony made a note to remember this boys name, Darren.

"It's nice to meet you, Darren. Tell me. What house are you bound for?"

[Guest]

"Uhh... I can read people's uhm... Mind... Like how you would actually kill me if you found out that I am out to harm you and your husband. Naturally as well. You are 22 years old. Pure blood. Born and raised in England..." He sighed, and took out his ocarina to fiddle with it.

"Nice to meet you too, Mrs. Romain. I am bound for Ravenclaw... You are rather young for a headmistress, I must say." He smiled, and kicked the water again.

Briony's eyes flashed again, she looked at the boy, for someone in Ravenclaw she had no idea how he could be this stupid to tell her all of that and expect to walk away alive from her today, it was beyond baffling to her.

"Tell me, Darren, how do you expect me to just let you walk away knowing that you can see everything in my head?"

She raises her eyebrow further as he tells her that she is quite young, she doesn't know if this is a compliment or a dig at the fact she might not be able to do that job as well as her former Headmaster, whom, she had infact killed to take the position.

"Indeed I am. Yet more than capable to do that job I assure you."

[Guest]

"I don't know." He replied, and sighed.

"I don't know." He repeated, as he slowly took out his ocarina, and blew into it, sending note after note of soothing melody into the forest, and after a while, sparrows started landing around him, and flew away as he stopped playing.

"I guess it's because well.. You did certain things. I don't know what. But if you're capable of getting to the position you are in now, means that... Well... You had a miscarriage didn't you? You love children as much as you pretend to hate them." He sighed.

Briony looked at the boy, annoyed that instead of answering her question he would play that silly little instrument of his, she was oh so tempted to lift it out of his hand and crush it into a million peices but no she held her patcience.

"What?"

She blinked at him, never had she had a miscarriage in her life.

"You're mistaken, Your gift must be rusty, I have never had a miscarriage in my life, never been pregnant, so I suggest you stop digging where you're not wanted."

Briony glared at the boy, eyes dripping poison from them.

"You seriously believe I have a gift? Come on, headmistress. The ring on your finger gives it away. And the way you sit resembles how a person in love would. Your age is a lucky guess... Well, I heard that your husband is head of Slytherin, so that settles your blood purity, doesn't it?" He smiled, and got out, taking a small towel to dry his legs and rolling his jeans back down.

"How is Hogwarts like anyway?"

Briony chuckled softly and she let herself relax a little bit more, of course she wasn't normally fooled and she still might not have been but the kid was 11 what more could she do than scare him a little bit with what she said.

"Very observant Darren, you'd be a credit to out countries spies unit, have you even considered joining?"

She asked, half serious, half joking. Briony could imagine a boy like Darren either loving the idea of the nations at war or hating it completely.

"Hogwarts? It's beautiful. It's a truly magestic building and you can feel the culture seeping through the Walls, but it's a place of blood too, intriguing and cold to some, make sure you're not one of those few, and you'll have a great time."

[Guest]

"Uhh... I'll give that method due thought, Headmistress." He avoided giving a straight answer, and looked away.

"I see... Can't wait for term to start. But I'll miss Maths and Chemistry though." He sighed.

Briony raised her eyebrow as Darren looked away, clearly not interested in helping his country Briony thought even less of him than a few minutes of them meeting and she sighed softly:

"Ensure that you do."

Leaning back to lie down, stretching her body out Briony looked up at the sky and she wondered about the boy next to her, what this chemistry was, she knew if Maths, it was much like ancient runes, and there was a reason that wasn't part of the curriculum.

"Learning magic is a lot more interesting I am sure." she scoffed

"So... How do I sign up IF I want to? Not saying that I am... But..." He shrugged, and sat cross-legged in front of the lake.

"Well... True... But I'll miss counting something or mixing something just like Potions..." He shook his head and blew into the ocarina, sending clear musical tones into the forest.

Briony turned to Darren with a wolfish smile on her face and she shrugged her shoulders, maybe this would be the tine to get her first recruit for her own squad, that is if the boy was serious about this.

"You join the state spies easily, just go and sign up in the Ministry, but there is rumor of a new organisation developing..."

With that Briony sat up and looked directly at the boy, her cool eyes locking with his, as if looking into his very mind, of course she wasn't, she was just getting the jist of his commitment level, to see if he would stick with this.

"Well why don't you take potions? Or advanced potions? Get the teacher to apprentice you or something."

[Guest]

"I see... I see... " He smiled back, and he stood up for a while, to stretch, and walked over to get a curved stick, and he pulled a thin shred of leaf and attached it to the end of the stick, and placed the baitless rod into the water.

"Sure! I will! I want to pick up as many subjects as possible hopefully that I can cope. But I still need to work on my basic fundamentals." He smiled back.

Briony smiled. It was up to the boy to join now but she hoped that he would do his bit for his country, but if not, then she would have to think of some way in which to be devious to him, by way of payback for his lack of patriotic spirit.

"Very well then, what is it you're doing? You trying to make some crude fishing device? I'm not even sure that this place has fish..."

Staring off into the far bank Briony sent a dagger flying off and a smirk appeared on her lips as a satisfying ripping was heard.

"Stupid German." she spat

Briony shrugged her shoulders: "Take what you want."

"Well, you see. There's an old war strategy that I'm using to catch a fish. Sometime ago, a famed strategist caught a fish the exact same way. Technically, it's those who deliver themselves to me, I take." He smiled, and held onto the rod.

Suddenly, he felt a very dark thought from her, and turned, only to hear what had happened. A German... Huh...

"Wow uhm... Cool." He commented.

Briony, even thought it was very rude, spaced out while Darren was talking about fishing because to be honest she really didn't know what he was talking about and she had not even the remotest desire to learn about it.

"That's very wise...to learn from others mistakes and successes."

Sitting back down, Briony frowned softly, the sunlight in her eyes, so she drew a shadow across her face so that she could look up at the sky.

"See? See what and where the little cockroaches get up to? German scum."

He had to resist an urge to roll his eyes because he knew that his headmistress was clearly pretending to listen.

"Well uhm... I guess he was spying. But our side is spying too. So no point in calling each other scums isn't it? Let's play a gentleman's war." He stood up and dusted himself, and started to stretch,
