People (Kasey and Parker) Empty People (Kasey and Parker)

Post by Kasey Flynn Fri Mar 02, 2012 5:31 pm

Kasey had been sitting in the library, to scope out some new books for when he finished reading the one his mother gave him before leaving home. While she herself was a Hufflepuff when she was a girl, she nurtured the different aspects of her children that developed as they got older, and often would Tell Kasey she'd have no doubt he'd get into Ravenclaw and jokingly added with a wink, 'even with the bit of slytherin in you.'

He had a few novels around him, as he scanned through the first few pages, only half paying attention. While reading was one of his favorite pastimes, people watching was another. People were interesting. Watching them and all their little quirks around their friends, or strangers, or all alone. By not even saying a word, you could learn so much from simply a persons body language how they feel.

....Those are that table are going out..those guys over there are having a fight....those girls are gossiping about that girl over there. That one has no friends.....

Kasey realized it did seem a little creepy but he didn't particularly care. He continued to peek over the top of his book, taking note of several people. Glancing over at the door when another person came in.

Parker walked in with a stack of books in his hands, and he went to the main desk to return them. He went around to go look for some new books, probably about some creatures brought up in class, or a book more focused on the founders, he scrunched his nose, thinking that he really should study for transfiguration, so he grabbed a basic book on that too just incase.

He looked around bit to find a place to sit and study. Most places were too crowded or loud. He then saw one with a Ravenclaw boy reading. He walked over, looking down as he took a seat at the other end of the table, hoping he was not disturbing his reading.

Kasey watched the slytherin kid over the top edge of his book. When the slytherin disappeared in the aisles, Kasey went back to reading. He got absorbed in his book however, and hadn't looked up again until the slytherin has approached and sat at the opposite end of the table.

He could practically feel the unease coming off of him. ...doesn't like strangers, submissive...and seeing from the array of books, likes to- or needs to study.... once seeing the slytherin flip eagerly through the pages of the history book he concluded: likes to study...

Kasey continued to feign reading. Something about him was familiar. He couldn't put his finger on it. He continued to observe him.

The other boy hadn't said anything to him about sitting down at the table, so he figured it was fine. He didn't look up though, not really feeling like talking. Liking that it wasn't all the loud near them, Parker relaxed a bit more, flipping through the book he grabbed, trying to find the creatures Madam Lucia had brought up in class.

He swung his feet under the table a bit, as he continued scanning through it. Reading little sections about various interesting creatures. He'd not yet come across the one she mentioned yet.

With the previous book still open, he grabbed the history book centered more on the founders, and set it on top of the other, opening it up and skimming through that as well, still leaving his transfiguration book to the side. He started to feel like he was being stared at, the hairs on the back of his neck standing up a bit. He really hoped that boy was not glaring at him to move or something, so he slowly looked up.

Kasey watched the strange way the Slytherin studied, one book on top of another, jumping between different subjects like there wasn't a difference in what he was looking up. He didn't look to be as tense and trouble as a lot of the other slytherins. ....raised half-blood probably, in a more muggle home... he supposed.

He saw one book left abandoned, transfiguration. Transfiguration of all things he didn't like. At least what Kasey assumed he didn't like since he wasn't paying any attention to in like the other books.

Kasey lowered his book a bit, still watching him as the slytherin looked up, not caring if he was caught looking. "Oh. hello there."

When Parker looked up at the boy, he just stared back. When the boy had said hello, Parker opened his mouth say something back but it didn't come. His throat suddenly felt dry with the realization that he knew this boy.

Not from classes, not from wandering the grounds, but home. Back home.

They sat in silence as Parker stared back. Admittedly, he hardly knew him. They'd only lived across the street for a short while, and never spoke. Parker almost smiled. He knew there was something different about him. He knew it. Just like him. He didn't know it at the time, but they were different because they could do magic.

Kasey didn't break eye contact as the slytherin stared at him with the most perplexing look. ...he's dealing with some inner struggle, something more then just saying hello...

Something seemed to click in his head and Kasey could see it in his eyes. Again, he felt something familiar. How could he not know what is was?

Kasey thought their little staring contest had gone on long enough and he cleared his throat, to end it. He then stood up and moved his seat to right across the Slytherin, rather then across the table from him.

Parker felt his cheeks heat up and he abruptly looked down when the boy cleared his throat. Staring was probably the wrong thing to do. He ducked his head down a bit more into his book, wishing he could just hide away.

Parker heard a rustling of robes but he didn't look up, thinking he was just going to walk away. But Parker looked up when he sat back down right across, Parker still leaned over his book.

He met his eyes again, managing to struggle out a, "Uhm...hello..."

Kasey rested his elbow on the table, and put his chin on his palm. Looking bored, but trying to figure some things out as he looked over the slytherin hunched over his book.

When the slytherin looked up, Kasey lowered his hand from his face and reached it out, to shake his hand. "Kasey Flynn."

Parker just stared back at the other boy when he held out his hand. Parker stayed staring at him, seemingly frozen. Did Kasey really not recognize him? Wait, why would he? Parker kept asking himself questions and arguing with himself. He figured he was getting some sort of strange look from Kasey, so he shook his head a bit to pull himself back to reality.

He took a breath and cleared his throat. "P-parker Emery..." Parker left his hands resting on his book, not shaking Kasey hand. He didn't care if it seemed rude, he just...well, he didn't know why he didn't do it. He just needed more time to process everything that was going on. Why was he even having such a difficult time? They hardly knew each other.

Still. He had known of him before coming here. He wasn't mean to him back then. Though it's not like was was nice, they never even spoke. But still. The fist time another boy his age hasn't been so strangely cruel to him.

Kasey narrowed his eyes, lowering his hand as he realized this Parker kid wasn't going to be so friendly. ...something was off with him... He watched Parker shake his head a bit, pulling himself out of whatever thoughts he was having.

He nodded. "Alright, Parker. I suppose it's nice to meet you. First person not to come up and bother me here." He looked around and sighed. "Well, I suppose I'm sorry for bothering you."

He looked at the books Parker had and looked over him. "Second year, right?" He asked, wanting to get past the failed introduction.
