Lesson Four - First Years Empty Lesson Four - First Years

Post by Raven 'The Sweeney' Drake Mon Mar 26, 2012 8:41 pm

Raven stood in the middle of her classroom, humming one of her favourite songs, it was from the film Sweeney Todd, but it was one that normally she never sung, because it was simply too romantic for her, however, now she thought that she understood a little bit of the feelings within it.

Waiting for the class to come in she moved to sit on the desk at the center of the room, she had changed the lay out so that all the students desks faced the one in the middle of the room. It seemed to be better that way.

Sighing, Raven flicked her razor out and in, waiting for the students to come so she could begin.

Alex walked to potions she wondered what potion they would be learning, sighing Alex walked into the potions classroom to see the desks all facing the one in the middle where the Sweeney was sitting.

Alex sighed quietly she nodded to the Sweeney and she went to her desk and sat down and waited for class to start.

Dimitri sauntered in quietly, his satchel hanging from his shoulder, hands stuck in his pockets. He paused momentarily to survey the layout that the Professor had put the desks in. Rather than questioning it, he sat down in a desk that faced the doorway. He'd rather not have his back vulnerable to the open hallway. It just feel uneasy to him.

He made no noise as he sat down, but he remembered to nod to the teacher. It was the polite thing to do after all. Now all he had to do was wait for the others to come and class would start.

Lesson Four - First Years Empty Re: Lesson Four - First Years

Post by Tamara Aquaila Tue Mar 27, 2012 8:23 am

Tamara walked into class and saw that it was a sort of circle. She sat down at a random spot, giving a nod to the teacher known as the Sweeney. She didn't know why, but Tamara felt a rising contempt for the woman, thinking about how much Benedict hat- disliked her, Benedict didn't hate, due to her ruthlessness. So, maybe Tamara wasn't one to talk, given the fact that she had dragged one or two students down to the depths of Das Eis in the past.

She then pushed the memories away and leaned back in her chair, waiting for the lesson to start.

Agne as was custom now glanced warily at the doorway of the classroom before she enter, to be sure Trevor was still well away. Happy at his prolonged absence she walked into the room to be quite taken aback. Unsure of where her seat now was among the spiral of tables she sat in the on nearest the door heart racing and joy gone as she watched 'The Sweeney' playing with a knife.

The joy Annkia felt during Runes and when reading the post from papa seemed to drain from her as she approached Potions and the Sweeney. Somehow she knew that if she went in smilling and light hearted, the professor would not be in the least amused. Ttrying her best to tuck the cameo inside her shirt and to think of her last class and the potion formula (she might want to test us ) she slowly walked in taking a seat by Agne. She recognized her from when the boy (never learned his name) was rescued. Leaning over she took a chance to whisper , "How were the girl and boy? I had to got to class and couldn't wait. Hope they are okay. You really are a hero you know." Glancing up at the Sweeney Annika blushed furiously and began digging out her quill, ink and scrolls and got ready for class .

"I really don't know!" Agne admitted with a shrug. "The last thing I heard was that they had to stay in the hospital wing overnight!" she shook her head as a shiver ran through her, how terrible would it have been for to die that way? Her face went pale, she didn't want to think about it. "I think they'll be fine," she whispered back before adding, "I did nothing really. Besides, I would have been in the hospital wing if it wasn't for you with that robe, thank you!" she beamed before furrowing her brow sharply. "I don't think we've been properly introduced," she paused holding out a hand. "My name's Agne Bartkus, and all this magic stuff is way over my head!" she giggled hoping she'd made a friend.

Post by Guest Tue Mar 27, 2012 6:21 pm

Alex heard Agne's and Annika's conversation and she quickly crossed her arms and bit her lips, why did Agne alway's make friends? Why did everyone like Agne? Was Alex just to weird for anyone? Sighing Alex tapped her foot lightly against the floor she wondered why no one liked Alex she sighed and got up and moved as far away from Agne and Annika as possible.

Sitting at a new desk which no one ever sat at, she wondered why everyone sat next to Agne and no one sat next to Alex, sighing Alex leaned back in her chair and wanted class to start quickly.

Lesson Four - First Years Empty Re: Lesson Four - First Years

Post by Yeva Sergeiovna Glazgova Wed Mar 28, 2012 5:20 am

Yeva who was in a much better mood after reviving a letter from her eldest brother inviting she and a few of her friends to spend the afternoon at Goldenen Straße walked briskly into the room. She knew the only reason for the invitation was for the selfish reason of not wanting to go baby shopping alone with his watermelon sized wife, but her other brothers would be there and she really, really missed them. Taken briefly aback by the new lay out of the room she quickly spotted the two girls who had helped her from before. "Hi!" she said sitting next to Annika and Agne. "Thank you guys so much for your help!" she said fidgeting with joy she couldn't hold it in any longer! "Would you like to go to Goldenen Straße with me and my brothers today, you can bring a friend or two?" she beamed.

Agne's eyes widened with excitement, she only been their once to get her school things. "I'm very glad that you are alright! How's the boy?" she asked politely before gushing, "I'd love to! Is it alright if I see if Alexanra wants to come?" she asked motioning to her best friend in the world who seemed to be having a bad day and could do with some cheering up.

"Of course! And I think he's well, his name is Vladimir by the way!" she giggled with excitement before standing a rushing over towards the other girl, not even 'The Sweeney' could upset her today. "Hi, my name's Yeva Sergeiovna I think we've met before, would you like to come to Goldenen Straße with us this afternoon?" Then she froze with a start, what was she doing here? Seated across the room was the vile mermaid, Yeva who had never hated anyone in her life hated that monster!

Alex looked up when she noticed Yeva, Alex nodded " Sure" She said giving her a smile, Alex was still a little mad at Agne and Annika but she remembered Yeva had a cat. Alexander was his name Alex looked to where Yeva was staring at, When Alex looked she was staring at Mara.

" Hey Yeva don't you have a cat?" Alex asked not unkindly she noticed Yeva was giving Mara a death glare, Alex sighed and leaned back in her chair.

"Oh," Yeva said starting slightly. "Yes, I do, his name's Alexander..." her heart sank slightly, she still didn't know where he was, a bit of anger well inside as she remembered that it was Agne's fault for his being lost. She shook the anger away, Agne hadn't meant it but she still missed her baby. "What about you, do you have any pets?" she asked with a smile.

Alex nodded " Yes, I do a cat named Snow" Alex said happily even though she hasn't spent a lot of time with him. She shook her head, and looked at Yeva Alexx knew where her cat was but. Didn't know whether to tell her or not, she decided against it.

" So umm how is that boy?" Alex asked not unkindly As much as Alex didn't want to be near Annika and Agne, she had heard of the boy around school Alex sighed quietly.

Yeva smiled, she liked the cat's name, and wondered if it was white. At hearing Alexandra's question however, her eyes darted scornfully back to the mermaid. "He's doing fine," she said before turning away. "He's name's Vladimir!" she then beamed, back to her happy self as she looked at the other girl warmly.

Hugo walked into class and took his seat he didn't really care about anyone here. They didn't matter. HE smiled a bit at the boy in his house. He seemed inttersting.

Lesson Four - First Years Empty Re: Lesson Four - First Years

Post by Guest Wed Mar 28, 2012 7:37 pm

Katrina walked into potions class and noticed the normal girls talking away. She could never understand how these girls could talk so much.

Katrina noticed that Hugo was already in class so she walked over and took the seat next to him.

"Hello Hugo, having a good day so far?" Katrina was ready for the summer to start and she hoped that she could spend the summer at Hugo's place.

Looking up to the front she wanted to see if class was about to start. She didn't mind idle chat, but have a full fledge conversation was not something for class.

Post by Raven 'The Sweeney' Drake Fri Mar 30, 2012 8:51 pm

Raven blinked and looked at the children in her class, withdrawing three razors from her holdster she threw them just past the most talkative students ears, a venamous look on her face and she looked from her ingredients cupboard to the students, and then narrowed her eyes even further.

"This class is for teaching, not for idle prattle, problem? Leave. Otherwise, you'll do well to stop your tongue wagging before you lose it, do you understand? 5 points from all of your houses, you pitiful things." she said in a disgusted manner.

Looking through the students, Raven's eyes landed on a girl from Geschick house, and grinned wickedly, Annika she believed her name was, and tapping her wand on the board the words;

'Swelling Solution' appeared there.

"Today we will be making this. We will be testing it on Miss. Annika here...so get it wrong, she's not likely to thank you. An ingredient." she ordered.

Lesson Four - First Years Empty Re: Lesson Four - First Years

Post by Annika Bauermeister Fri Mar 30, 2012 9:06 pm

Annika ducked her head quickly as the razor flashed past her ear. Then quickly sat straight in her chair and got out her quill, parchment and ink. she didn't even dare to look up or at her friends. "Now what have I done. Mama and Papa are sure to hear this and I'm going to disappoint them,' she thought as she fought tears of embarrassment Embarassed and fear. affraid The fear only grew when she heard that she was to be the guinea pig for this class. Only Agne could understand the anguish she felt, but even then Annika wasn't sure she would even really care. It seemed she had already made a couple of people's dislike list and now even the professor was angry. It seemed that maybe she had done the wrong thing by taking potions. But then if she hadn't she wouldn't have met Yeva and Agne. Life really wasn't fair.

She hoped someone--any one would answer so she didn't feel the need to answer. Holding her breath she looked out of the corner of her eyes and stole a glance at the rest of the students. But she still didn't dare look at the Sweeney.

Katrina was not too happy at the moment when Sweeney took away 5 points, she had asked one simple question to Hugo they weren't even rally talking. But she needed to earn her points back, so she raised her hand.

"Lacewing flies, I am sure is one of the ingredients." Katrina stated pretty sure of herself.

Post by Raven 'The Sweeney' Drake Sun Apr 01, 2012 7:03 pm

Raven nodded at the Geschick girl who had actually gotten the answer right, she had not expected anyone to, after all the people in her class this year seemed to have no real aptitude for potions at all, but she hoped that over time they would become more adept.

"Well done, 3 puffafish eyes are needed."

Raising her eyebrow at the girl from her own house, Raven chuckled lightly "Then you are surely wrong, there are no lacewing flies in this potion."

Tapping the board the instructions appeared there and Raven looked at them with a small smirk;

"Your homework is to make this potion at home, ingredients can be taken from my stores or bought nearer the time you want to brew the potion, make sure you note these down carefully. Once you're done, class dismissed."

'3 puffafish eyes'
'4 snake scales'
'2 teaspoons of flobberworm pus'
'5 chopped asphodel roots'
'1 base potion'

'1. Add the base potion to a cauldron on medium heat.
'2. Ensure that the snake scales are added one at a time until the potion turned purple'
'3. Add the flobberworm pus and stir the potion for two minutes clockwise, then one minute anti-clockwise'
'4. Chop the asphodel roots small, as small as possible, then add them to the potion, wait until it turns a light pink.'
'5. Add the puffafish eyes one at a time.'
'6. Wait until the potion turns white. Then take off the heat and place in your vials.'

Lesson Four - First Years Empty Re: Lesson Four - First Years

Post by Annika Bauermeister Sun Apr 01, 2012 8:39 pm

Annika, keeping her head down, quickly copied the instructions from the board. She was shaking and the letters didn't form as neatly as she would have liked, but at least it could be read. Reciting the instructions in her mind so she wouldn't forget and do it wrong, she felt a dread take over her very soul. She knew that Alex wasn't fond of her, especially now, and she was worried that maybe she might make just enough of a mistake to embarrass Annika when she had to try the potion next lesson. The trip to town sounded better and better to her, anything to get away from the school and get her mind off her potions class. Not only had she gotten in trouble but she cost the house 5 points. Everyone was sure to be upset about that. She deaded going into the common room this evening.

Quietly she put her things away and with a quick look at Agne and Yeva and a half smile trying to apologize she finished up and stole out of the class room.
