Lesson One - Second Years Empty Lesson One - Second Years

Post by Briony Romain Mon Apr 16, 2012 10:28 pm

Briony was getting ready for the new school year and was more than a little excited to see all the old faces again, and also, some of the new faces that she hoped to have in her class, the increase in German attacks, as well as the idea that they were now attacking everywhere as opposed to just large groups of wizards, was one that was frightening.

Hoping that students would know that now it was more important that ever to learn how to defend themselves properly, so, opening the door to her classroom, she stood behind her desk, placing a hand over her little bump, and smiling a little when she felt the baby kicking slightly.

Sam hummed and walked to dueling she was so happy and excited she had to keep herself from running into the classroom, Sam looked down at the ring Teresa had given her and smiled Sam walked inside and smiled when she saw Professor Romain.

" Good morning Professor" Sam said with a smile Sam sat down in the back and she waited for the rest of the class to show up.

Lesson One - Second Years Empty Duelling Classroom :: Lesson One - Second Years

Teresa walked in, staring into space, and hit a desk before getting back to herself. She sat at that desk. Seems like a good idea to sleep.

Briony looked around her class and had sworn that there were more students there last time she had been teaching this year group and she wondered why some people had obviously chosen to drop her subject, or simply decided not to turn up any more.

Sighing lightly, she looked around and tapped the board, the words;

'Serpent Sortia'

Appeared there, and she nodded to Sam as she said hello to her.

"This spell, can anyone tell me what it does?" she asked "And what the good points and bad points are about it?"

"Does it have to do something with a snake and sorting?" Teresa said out loud. She thought she sounded stupid. She just took it from the words.

She smiled, goofy - like. "I hope this doesn't make a bad impression."

Sam looked at Teresa and blinked, Sam glanced at professor Romain and blinked Sam had no idea what Teresa said and she didn't want to Sam raised her hand.

" The spell conjures a snake, and the good points about it is that it could easily scare an opponent and there is a spell you can use to get rid of the snake, the bad points is if you don't control the snake it could easily turn on an ally instead of the opponent and the snake can be very poisoness" Sam said she blinked and sunk in her chair.

Sam felt like she had spoken out of turn which she probably did, Sam sunk far down in the chair.

Xander walked into class and took a seat at the back. He didn't try to avert his gaze, but didn't attempt to appear cocky. He knew it wasn't his first time late and hoped to continue in the class.

It kind of got under his skin that he seemed to be the only boy in a lot of his classes. Didn't help that they were doing Serpensortia. He really didn't like snakes, but knew he'd have to get over it one way or another.

A Hell. Those were the first thoughts that came to Luke's mind as he saw class had started. He had managed to hear Teresa's comment and he mentally slapped himself. He grabbed a seat beside Xander and paid attention to Professor Romain.

It seemed that she was looking rather...pregnant? He'd rather not mention it, for he knew women were very delicate about that sort of thing, at least he thought they were. He decided not to think about it, but hearing Sam's explanation he smiled at least seeing someone knew what was going on.

Lesson One - Second Years Empty Re: Lesson One - Second Years

Post by Briony Romain Fri Apr 20, 2012 2:02 am

Briony nodded her head at what Sam said, deciding that she would gloss over the very odd outburst that another of her students had started to have, it was something that made little sense and if she dwelled on it too much she might give away points and that was not something she wanted to do.

"Well done Sam, that is completely correct, 5 points to Gryffindor, so, for the moment until we learn the counter spell next lesson, we will be doing this spell on at a time on a dummy, and I will dispell it for you."

Tapping her wand on the table Briony saw the dummy come up out of the floor and she readied herself in front of it, holding her wand out and she quickly whipped it downwards and she muttered; 'Serpent sortia.' and the snake flew out of her wand tip and onto the dummy.

Quickly she muttered the counter spell and moved out of the way;

"Now, one at a time, you try it."

Sam sat up straight, Sam looked around she was the only Gryffindor there, Sam blinked and she stood up and walked toward the dummy.

Pulling her wand out Sam sighed and pointed it at the dummy " Serpent Sortia" Sam said she watched as the snake flew out of her wand tip and onto the dummy Sam glanced at Professor Romain Sam hoped the counter spell worked Sam sighed and she watched the snake.

Post by Anne Jones Sat Apr 21, 2012 2:54 pm

Anne groaned as she walked into yet another class late. She was so tired. She had been running all day. She had blacked out and missed lunch too. She just wanted the day to be over. She mouthed her appology to the teacher and waited in line to try the spell.

Briony saw that Sam was going to try and do the spell, so she readied herself for the counter, when the snake successfully came out of the tip of the wand and hit the dummy, Briony pointed her wand at it and quickly muttered the counter curse, which, made the snake vanish, leaving only a small burn mark on the dummy where it had hit before being transported elsewhere.

"Well done Sam. 10 points to Gryffindor."

Turning her head, Briony almost groaned, but instead just glared at Anne, she had forgiven the others for being late for they had not yet started the class material, but this was too late for her liking, and points would have to be deducted;

"10 points from your house Anne, for your lateness, and copy up today's work from one of your classmates."

Anne nodded at punishment. She sighed at the glare and wished that she could have been on time. It wasn't even her fault. She went up to the dummy and tried the spell "Serpent sortia" She called and watched as it worked.

Briony banished the snake that Anne conjured and she looked around the rest of the class, she was about to shout at them all and ask why they hadn't gotten up and tried the spell themselves when she saw that the lesson was over, they had a lucky escape that was for sure.

"Right, class dismissed, all of you make sure that you are here on time for the next lesson please." she said with a frown on her face, sitting down on her desk, and summoning up a coffee.
