First years, first lesson: Exitarmus

Lucia walked into her classroom and sat down by the desk, feeling very excited to see the new class. A round of introductions would have to be held, and she wrote on the blackboard:

Introduction round!
What is your name?
What do you want to learn?
What is your most feared creature and spell?
Which spell do you want to master?

She then leaned back in her chair and waited for the class to file in.

Dahlia walked into class, noticing she was first once again. "Morning, professor." she said proudly, as she walked to a seat.

She took her things out and placed them on her desk. As she did so, she noticed some questions on the board. She read them carefully and sighed. I''m guessing we'll all have to introduce ourselves.

Lucia smiled to the student walking in. "Good morning Ms. Barnette," she said kindly.

She waited for a few more minutes, but when the lesson was due to start, she looked at the girl. "It looks like you'll be alone in this lesson. Well, not a bad thing, really. Gives you more room for improvement. So, today I'm gonna teach you the spell 'Exitarmus'. Do you know what kind of spell that is?" Lucia asked kindly, hoping the student wouldn't mix it with Expelliarmus.

Carly ran into the classroom, she really was late this time. When she got there she saw there was only one other student, and the proffessor had already started to explain what they were doing in that lesson.

Sheepishly Carly turned to the proffessor "I'm so sorry im late Proffessor, I must have lost track of time" she said, pulling at her hair hoping not to get into to much trouble on the first lesson.

Lucia looked at the girl that ran into the classroom and nodded. "I won't take points this lesson, but if you're late next lesson I will," she said, never one for taking points from the first lesson.

She then smiled. "All right, today, I think you'll just introduce yourselves. Anyone who wants to start?" she asked, looking at the two of them.

Carly hesitantly raised her hand, "Hi, I'm Carly Grass, I'm in Hufflepuff, as you can probably tell from my robes" she said lokking down and smiling at the bright yellow and black tie around her neck. "I'm really looking forward to this class, oh and thanks for not docking points" she added quickly on the end, giving her Professor a quick grin.

Then Carly turned to the other girl, realising she had seen her in some of her other classes, and waited for the girl to introduce herself.

Dahlia stood up after Carly had finished introducing herself. She took a deep breath and began. "My name is Dahlia Barnette. I'm a Slytherin, obviously. I'm hoping to learn and master every spell that I can." she said. She didn't want to have to admit what she feared the most. But she guessed it was normal to fear something. "The creatures I fear the most are.......werewolves." she added, trying not to make eye contact with anyone.

Carly smiled at the girl, understanding her fear, she knew not all werewolves were bad, but she had heard some horror stories about the worst ones, and she wouldnt like to be caught on the full moon with one.

Carly then realised she had forgotten the questions on the board, trust her, this was just not her day today. "I most want to learn the patronus charm, because I want to know what form mine is, I'm also scared of scarecrows" she added blushing, she knew it was stupid, but those things just creeped her out!

Lucia smiled at them both. "Your fears are very understandable," she said honestly, "As for the Patronus Charm, I'm afraid you'll have to wait until your third year. It takes a lot of magical control, but if I work you hard enough, third year should do," she said with a smile.

"So, five points to each of you, and I'll see you next lesson!" she said, "Class dismissed."
