Lesson 1: Second Years

Professor Eleri Ddriag giggled almost mischievously as she looked over her collection of items to be used in the lesson, her plan was not something that student would expect of a teacher. A flick of her wand wrote her name on the board along with the wand movements and incantation for the first spell she was going to teach the Second Years. She looked at Toulouse, her pet cat who was also going to help her.
"They won't know what's hit them, will they cariad?" She grinned before sitting down to drink some tea and read a bit of 'Pride and Prejudice and Zombies' whilst waiting for her students.

Hoping not to have a new professor for charms, Annika sat on the grass and went through the contents of her satchel before going to class. Mama had given her a new wand for her birthday and she hadn't had much chance to really try it out. It was a really nice one and she was proud to have it. It was made of white oak, 12 1/4 inches long with a core of unicorn hair. Not quite sure what it's strengths were she was a little nervous to use it, but it was time for charms class and she knew that it would be do or die with it in there. Gathering her things ups she turned and went to class.
Relieved she saw the same professor who had taught last semester. maybe it wouldn't be too bad to have to learn to use her knew wand with her. she seemed to be really kind last class.

Eleri smiled at the first student to arrive, recognizing her from the previous term. She noted that the young blonde girl seemed happier and guessed that she might have been homesick before the end of the last term.

Eleri looked at her watch impatiently.
"Right, I'd best start the lesson now, even though not everyone has turned up. Although they'd better have a very good reason for being late!" She sighed before turning her attention to the one student who'd turned up.
"Now, I know that I had you for the lesson just before the end of term, but as school was about to break up I was fairly lenient. From no on, if you are late then there must be a good reason, or I will take points or even issue a detention depending on how late you are. But I am not completely unreasonable, illness or having to speak to another teacher will not result in any form of punishment but dawdling will." She said sternly, before smiling suddenly.
"Now, this lesson we will be studying a simple cleaning charm. But before we start, this classroom is far too tidy, I think for this practice it needs to be messed up a bit." She giggled before flicking her wand and spreading pots of ink, paint and other various 'messy' items.
"Right, just grab anything and throw it around the room, let's get this classroom good and messy! Toulouse and I will help, but be warned, Toulouse has a rather special party trick which may be surprising." She grinned, grabbing a pot of bright green paint and flinging it at one of the walls. Toulouse jumped up on the table and covered all his paws with white paint before running around the room, leaving white paw-prints all around the room. Suddenly his claws grew, allowing him to run up the wall and across the ceiling.

Giggling

Annika joined in the 'fun' and began by tearing up an old letter from her cousin in Russia. Tossing it in the air she continued tipping over an ink pot on the table next to her. Her eyes grew wide as she watched Faustus climb the wall, leaving white paw prints everywhere. Surprised

She watched as the professor tossed paint and papers around the room, then joined in again turning chairs upside down and sending some of them to the top of the book cases and tables. This was going to be a different year, and with luck it would be her bet yet. Stopping to catch her breath she watched the professor to see what was coming next. Very Happy

Looking around the room, Eleri smiled.
"Right, I think it's messy enough. 5 points to Geschick for really getting in the spirit of things. The charm I'm going to teach you is actually a very simple cleaning charm. Very handy for tidying your room." She grinned, pulling out her wand.
"The incantation is 'Scourigify' and all you need to do is a simple flick of your wrist. All being correct, the mess you're targeting should simply vanish, like thus." She continued before pointing her wand at the pawprints on the ceiling.
"Scourigify!" She said, flicking her wrist. A jet of blue light hit the pawprints and they simply dissolved. She turned back to the student.
"Right, now as much fun as messing the classroom up was, we've got to tidy it up using the charm. Why don't you have a go now?" She smlied, wordlessly cleaning Toulouse's paws so he couldn't carry on making a mess, he was having entirely too much fun doing so.

Annika was laughing so hard at Tolouse that she almos forgot what she was supposed to do for the spell. But trying hard to stop, she picked up her new wand. this would be the first time she had tried to use it and oh how she wished that she could do well. she had been so embarrassed by melting the fairy cake the last term she didn't want a replay of that to happen.

Nervously she lifted her wand, "Scourigify" she said firmly flicking her wrist as she said it. She closed her eyes as she did the spell and was almost afraid to look to see what had happened.

Eleri thought that Annika seemed a little nervous as she closed her eyes as she cast the spell. A wide smile spread across Eleri's face as the spell was performed perfectly.
"Well done! 50 points to Geschick, that was a flawless casting!" She said happily. She'd always wanted to teach and while she was disappointed that only one student had turned up for the lesson, she was pleased that that student was showing such skill.

As the bell for the end of class went, Eleri smiled at Annika.
"That's the end of the lesson today. Well done." She said, dismissing her.

"Thank you. This was a fun class. I just got a new wand and I was almost afraid to use it cuz I didn't have a chance to practice with it. I was lucky I didn't make a bigger mess. I hope next class I can do as good. Bye."
She practically skipped down the hall to her next class. "Boy that felt good," she thought "I've had two good classes today. I just can't believe my luck. I'm going to post an owl home and let Mama and Papa a letter tonight about it. I just won't mention astronomy.. They'd be really mad if they knew the secret Oma and I have. But I know Mama will be proud of my charms class and Papa will laugh at ow much I've learned in potions.
