New Friends

Iola knew that she shouldn't really be walking on the edge of the Forbidden Forest as it was completely out of bounds but she also knew that she could handle almost any creature that she would come across during the day. She was so engrossed in watching a herd of unicorns play together, she didn't notice the patch of Devil's Snare that she'd manged to walk into.
"Help!" She cried, trying to get loose. She'd never been much good with plants, they tended to hate her as this one trying to kill her showed.

A green and blue eye watched the girl as she struggled with the plant nipping at her ankles.
"need a hand" an irish voice came from his mouth before his lips before they curved into a massive grin!
"you look a little bit stuck" he added giggling for a few moments before a puffin flew into the side of his head knocking him over
He was only a first year but he had already been about this area a fair few times ignoring the rules telling him not to.

She looked up when she heard someone asking if she needed help.
"What gave it away? The fact that the plant's trying to kill me? I'd be grateful for the help though." She replied, her soft Welsh and slightly Elvin accent prominent in her voice which was a little snarky and sarcastic but it's a bit hard to rememeber to be polite to someone you've never met when a plant is trying to kill you. By now it had her upside down, and only her quick thinking and her training in Elvin magic protected her dignity.
"Tangwa en' templa." She muttered, sticking her skirt so that it couldn't fall. Her long black hair fell though, revealing her pointed ears. Her pet Lark, ws flying around frantically trying to help her mistress although her cat might have been more use had he not been asleep in her dorm.

Rassilion scrambled over to the plant and drew out his wand and prepared to cast a spell but thne he stopped, thinking to himself for a few moment.
He smiled up at the girl and then whispered softly to the plant for a few moments before it slowly started to move, putting the girl down the right way up and then wrapping its vines around Rassilion affectionately.
"hope you are ok...you should be more careful with these poor plants" he said up at the girl as his pet puffin flew around the lark it saw after getting up in a similar manner to its owner

"I was distracted by the unicorns! And it didn't have to try and kill me! It could have just moved me!" Iola replied with a huff. Her expression softened almost immediately.
"Although thank you for your help, you seem to have a gift with plants." She smiled, removing the spell from her skirt.

"I just asked it nicely" he said with a distracted tone as he was rather entranced with the view of his pet flapping around happpily
"silly puffin" he said with a dopey grin on his face
he swept a few locks of blonde hair out of his face before grinning happily at the girl
"My name is Rassilion Everglade!" he said extending a hand

She took his hsnd and shook it warmly.
"Iola Nienna Nólatári Avalon. It's nice to meet you." She replied, before grabbing her bag.
"I was lucky you were in the forest today, even if the Devil's Snare hadn't finished me off, something more dangerous might have come along." She grinned.

Rassilion smiled
"you have a lot of names...are they just in case you loose a few?" he asked with a grin
he looked down as the devils snare as it shook its leaves
"you offended the plant by thinking there are more dangerous things in this forest" he giggled

Iola looked nervously at the plant and moved away just in case it decided to attack again.
"Well how dangerous the creatures and plants are is all relative, for me the most dangerous creature in this forest is the Acromantula. While the Devil's Snare is quite dangerous, an Acromantula would give even the most powerful witch and wizard a lot of trouble. I also have a slight issue with them." She explained, hoping to appease the plant.
"And the last two are both surnames, Elvish doesn't really have a hyphen so they're separate." She giggled.

Rassilion nodded intently stroking the Devils snare's leaves causing it to rustle in such a way that made it seem like it was purring.
Soon though jealousy took over his pet who landed on his shoulder and began pecking at him causing him to scream, shout and flail about to which the plant responded by trying to save him
The whole scene was a mess of feathers, leaves and poor Rassilion getting it from both sides
"heeeeeeelp!" he shouted hoping the nice girl would assist in some way

Seeing that her new friend was in trouble Iola leaped into action.
"Tinechor." She muttered, causing a shield to form between him and his puffin. While it was distracted, Iola drew its attention to her.
"Tanya nae n'quel, lirimaer." She said softly, the puffin calmed but not as much as she would have liked. She decided to try a trick that her father had shown her to calm living creatures.

"Orthannen im vi ól
Coll e dû
Or hiriath naur
Na rovail mae sui 'waew
Man prestant i ardhon?
Cerithar aen illiad dim úthenin?"

She sang softly.
The puffin calmed down and flew over to its master to apologize.

Rassilion laughed and pet the puffin before rushing over to give Iola a huge hug
he soon realised how silly he was being and got all shy, going bright red he stumbled backwards
"sorry..." he said looking at the floor

Iola laughed lightly at how bashful he'd gone before giving him hug herself.
"What house are you in?" She asked, pulling a box of sweets from her bag and offering some to Rassilion.

"hufflepuff" he said with a proud salute.
he went to reach for a sweet when suddenly something caught his eye in the forest...a Bouncing bulb! his eyes lit up with sheer joy and he sprinted into the foliage to examine the plant leaving his puffin to perk itself on Iola's shoulder instead
Rassilion was soon nothing but a dark silhouette...the boy was gonna get himself in some major hassle!

When Rassilion ran off into the forest, Iola was stunned for moment before she realised the trouble he could get into on his own in the forest. She ran after him with the lark and puffin flying after her.
"Mother Earth, please let him be alright." She muttered to herself as she ran.
In the distance, she could see Rassilion examining something close to the ground, completely unaware of the large figure that was looming over him.

Iola wasn't the only one unaware of what was looming about, Rassilion was poking at a small plant and muttering to it very quickly as if he was a fangirl desperate to talk to her favourite celebrity.
Rassilions pet stopped flying being the first to notice the danger and started to squeak repeatedly

A large brown warg was looming over Rassilion, who was currently squeaking in surprise, intent on eating him. Seeing that her friend was about to be eaten, Iola pulled her shrunken bow and quiver of arrows from her bag.
"Usquener! Lasta lalaithamin." She shouted, drawing it's attention. After catching her Elven scent, the warg started to rush to attack her, following the enmity between Elves and wargs. Quick as a flash she fired an arrow stright into its right eye, blinding it down its right hand side. It roared in rage and tried to charge her once more. She fired two more arrows, one into its throat and another between its eyes. With a strangled gurgle, it died, crashing down and landed on her, trapping her beneath its body.
"Umm...help!" She gasped, having difficulty breathing due to the heavy corpse.

Rassilion skipped over and showed her the bulb in his hands...still oblivious to the things that had happened grinning all the way.
When he noticed the warg he jumped and heaved it off of the girl and then just laid down next to her
"this forest is fun" he said smiling

Iola blinked before she giggled. She shrunk her bow and quiver before putting them back in her bag.
"So you're in Hufflepuff, cool. I'm in Slytherin." She smiled, looking at how far into the forest.
"We should head back, if we stay here then something might come to eat the remains of the warg." She said, looking nervous.

"The plants are so cheerful though...that warg was terrorising them" Rassilion said with a happy sigh looking about at the various plants around him not wanting to leave them behind.
"how are you liking the school?" Rassilion asked, hoping to stall for time while his pet puffin sat on his stomach

"I haven't gone to any lessons yet as I've only just signed up for them but I love the atmosphere around the school. And no one's been mean yet which is good. But I miss my Ada and my nosse." She smiled, relaxing a little when nothing bad happened.
