Wondering (Open)

Haley climbed to the top of the only tower she had yet to be in. She wondered why she hadn't gone there before, and she really just wanted to check it out to see what was up there. But when she reached the top, she frowned. Cells. Prisons. She sighed. Of course Hogwarts would have prisons, it was made in the 900rds. But she had never thought about it.

She walked over to a sprinkled window and looked out of it. She sighed deeply. She wondered what it was like to be in prison. Lonely, for sure, but it couldn't be worse than Haley had felt in the last year. She imagined it might even be slightly better for her to be in prison now, than to go around free. At least she could do whatever in a prison. She could cry in a prison. But Haley didn't manage to cry in front of people she knew and cared about, especially if she knew they cared about her back; it would hurt them to see her sad, and she just couldn't hurt people when it was caused by her.

A gush of air flew past her hair and into the room. Suddenly the door slammed shut behind her. She whipped around and frowned, running to the door, trying to open it. But it wouldn't budge. "Shit," Haley muttered, clenching her teeth. "Hello! Can anyone hear me?! Hello!" she yelled until she got hoarse and she stumbled back to the wall, slipping down and pulling her knees up to her chest, burying her face in them.

She wasn't scared, no. She knew someone would find her eventually. But in the meantime, it was a given gift from who knows where to start crying. She felt her body shaking, but she didn't let out loud sobs, even though she felt like it. The only sound coming from her was her sniffling.

Tess was up to her usual adventuring. Well...no that'd be lying. She wasn't usually one to explore on her own, unless it was the Black Lake, that was where one could easily find her. Still, something had compelled her to come up here. She didn't usually listen to those voices, but figured that she needed to actually move forward and listen to her instincts.

She hummed as she climbs the stairs. Merlin there were a lot of them. Still she found herself wanting to learn more about herself and rather than wait for something to happen, she found herself with the mentality that she should go out and do something. As she reached the top stairs she froze wide eyed.

She head sniffling behind the door. She had been there once before when she met Vero and she noticed that it was much chillier than last time. With a gust of wind she cursed and pushed her skirt down and pushed her hair out of the way.

"Stupid wind" she muttered.

Hearing the sniffling once more she decided to call out. Still wary after all it could be Peeves playing tricks again.

"Hello! Hello! Anyone there?"

Haley looked up as she thought she heard something, but then she frowned. It seemed to have only been the wind. But she started drying her tears, feeling like someone was nearby. Maybe one of the ghosts. She hoped it wasn't Peeves. She was fed up by him during the years, though she had to admit, some of his pranks were pretty darned funny. She sighed and sniffled and then she was sure she heard someone yelling. It sounded like... Tess?

Haley rose quickly and ran over to the door. "Hello! I someone there? I locked myself in!" she yelled to the person outside the door.

Hearing the wind blow, she swore she heard a voice. She rushed towards the doors and knocked on the first five of the towers trying to see if anyone was there, but no use. She continued to run across the tower doors trying to find a cell in which someone was in.

I might just be goin' bonkers she thought to herself.

Still as she heard "I locked myself in!" she knew where it was. She rushed towards the location and before her was someone she wasn't expecting.

"Hello there" she said with a small smile.

Haley. She hoped to calm herself down before opening the door.

"Take a few steps back will ya?" She asked.

Haley breathed a sigh of relief when she saw Tess standing in the door, looking into the cell. "Tess, thank Merlin!" she said, a smile spreading on her face.

Though she hadn't really been scared, she had been a bit worried over how long she would have to stay in the cell. She was so grateful that Tess had even walked up here. From what Haley had understood, this wasn't really a popular place. She stepped back quickly and tilted her head at Tess. Was she gonna blow the door open? Well, she could imagine the door would easily be repaired, and besides, did Hogwarts really take on prisoners either way?

Tess grinned.

"Well it's not everyday that I get to break into a cell" she said amused.

Taking out her wand and she thought of the spell to get her out. The sad thing was that the cells automatically locked themselves when someone entered to prevent trespassers from entering into the deeper parts of the castle.

"Bombarda" She called out aiming specifically towards the lock trying to get it to explode.

Metal screeched and a small burning smell appeared, coming along with an explosion. She closed her eyes and winced as the wind brought up the dirt of the old cell. But successfully the door was opened.

"Ta da!" she said putting her wand away. "What were you doing here anyways?"

Haley grinned at Tess. No, one didn't get to break open a cell every day. Pity she managed to leave her wand in the dormitory that day. She really didn't like walking without it, but she just didn't bring it, being oh-so-sure that she wouldn't be needing it. But she placed her arms around her face as Tess performed the spell they had just learned.

She rose and walked over to the girl. "Thanks a bunch. I'm also slightly grateful to professor Henley right now," she said with a sigh.

Haley looked into the cell to think of an excuse to being there. She really didn't want to lay out about her feelings to Tess. Not that she didn't trust her, that wasn't it. But it wasn't happy things, and Haley didn't want to bring Tess down. She really wanted someone to be there when she was down, but she didn't want to bring anyone down with her. So she seeked solitude.

"Nothing much. Just exploring really. And you, my saving angel?" she asked with a joking grin.

Tess snorted in amusement at her comment. Haley was funny, and pretty daring for...what she'd heard Hufflepuffs were like...but then again Haley was the only real Hufflepuff she knew. Maybe it was just her and the rest were shyer or whatnot. She'd rather not digress.

She was curious as to why Haley was in the cell to begin with, but when she responded, it sounded fair. At least in her eyes, she was oblivious to the fact that her response was a farce. After all she was exploring too, and she figured everyone had to do it once in a while. The castle was there to explore, at least in her eyes.

"I wanted to play hero I suppose saving a maiden from the tower" she smirked. "Seriously? I just wanted to check out more cells, I get bored reading books so I just...trod off somewhere figuring out how to waste away the hours."

Haley laughed a bit at Tess' comment. She had always found Tess to be a very kind person, but she had never really talked to her. Haley wanted to punch herself for that. But the Herbology lessons had brought them closer together, along with Victoria. Speaking of which, or more like thinking, Haley hadn't seen Victoria this year, except for at the ball. A light frown graced her forehead. After what had happened with Corinne, Haley really did always expect the worst now...

She was happy that Tess had believed her, she figured it was a good reason. Haley usually did explore things, she loved exploring, so the reason wasn't unknown to her. And she had been her before because she knew it was less crowded than most places, so that was great.

"I see," she said with a smile, "I do that sometimes too, really. Exploring can be a lot of fun."

She then frowned again, letting her curiosity take control. "Hey, I haven't seen Victoria since the ball. Is she okay?" she asked softly.

Tess grinned and nodded. She didn't know when exploring was inbedded into her. It was probably from Alice. Her smiled dimmed as she remembered her. Alice had gone off the radar since their first year. Oftentimes she missed her a lot, after all she was her first friend in Hogwarts, from the train ride onward.

"Yeah" she said softly.

But the mention of Victoria, well a big frown appeared on her face. She'd been missing Victoria a lot. What happened to her? She was her best and yet she failed to see her in any class. She ignored the niggling feeling that something was wrong, but it was impossible she had been in those places. Screw the invisibility cloak, she knew that Victoria was not anywhere that she usually was. She had asked Luke who was worried beyond belief as well. And she would have asked Xander but she hadn't seen him since the dance either. She didn't want to think that they were...she'd rather not.

"I honestly don't know" she murmured frowning. "I haven't talked to her since the dance."

Haley frowned slightly. Why would Victoria just vanish off the map? There just was no way she was suddenly simply... missing. What were they doing to get her back? Her parents or family, of course, not Tess. Haley didn't like it, though. She felt as if something was wrong in some weird way. She didn't know why though. She didn't know Victoria enough to say it was gut instinct. But something was just wrong.

"Are people searching for her?" she asked softly, not wanting to upset Tess or anything like that.

But she wanted to know if there was anything she could do. After her parents died, all Haley had was money. She wanted to help fund a search or something if anything was needed. She really could help.

Tess sighed and shrugged. Honestly she felt like a bad friend.

"I've tried" she began. "I've been using my- my free time to look for her all over the castle. I've sent her owls, I've talked to people she's usually talking to and nothing"

She almost blurted out her Time Turner and that'd just be stupid. She sighed and ran her fingers through her hair nervously.

"Honestly no, I haven't talked to her family. She's...they're not that accepting of magic. She's a Muggleborn and she never has anyone that really understands her" she sighed. "I knew she should have never gone to Germany"

She growled at the mention of Germany. Every since her trip she'd been a bit off. What the hell occurred?! She looked at Haley sadly.

"I've not managed to get hold of the Headmistress, she's been busy with her pregnancy. I don't want to add more stress. I don't know her roommates either! It's just frustrating"

She felt like she was pushing too much on Haley, but she knew Haley was close to Victoria.

"Has she been in any classes you have with her? You know the ones I'm not in?"

Haley could see Tess' frustration, and totally understood how hard it must be for her. They were best friends after all. She sighed when she heard her parents were ignoring magic too, just like Parker's, but heck, they had to realize that when there was magic, it wouldn't be enough to just call the freaking police. She frowned. She didn't want to put more stress on the headmistress either. She had enough to deal with. She then looked thoughtfully at Tess.

"She went to Germany?" she asked calmly, feeling anything but calm; what if she had been killed?!

Taking a deep breath to steady herself, she swallowed and then shook her head softly. "I haven't seen her," she said lowly.

She really wished there was something she could do. She then felt a triumphant grin spread on her face. He owed her. He better do what she asked of him. He seriously owed her.

"I know a guy. I'll talk to him, and he might be able to help us," Haley said, "But I'm not making any promises."

Tess raised her brow about someone that owed Haley. She was a bit nervous but intrigued and nodded. After all Haley was a trustworthy person.

"Get him" she said grinning

At the thought of Victoria though, she sighed.

"She went there for summer. After she came back she was a bit...off? I can't really describe it but she felt different. She never really told me much about it, and since first year we've talked about anything and everything. I have a bad feeling. I swear I'll hex whoever did whatever to her."

Her hair was crackling and magic was rolling off of her in waves. She needed to calm herself down.

Haley felt a grin tug at her own lips. It would be easy to locate him, hopefully, even though he was a good hider. She sighed and looked around. Now, where did he like to hang the most? She grinned fully when she realized where he'd most likely be.

"Great, I'll find him," she said happily.

She then felt her smile fading as Tess' smile did. She listened closely. So she came back, being odd. Maybe she was being threatened by someone? Haley hoped not. She knew that feeling. She sighed and looked around for no real reason.

"We'll find her and bring her back good and fierce," Haley said with a new grin, "We'll be like the Avengers or something."

She then looked at Tess again. "That is, if you've heard of the Avengers," she said thoughtfully.

Tess laughed at the mention of the Avengers and nodded.

"Hm..yes, they are what Muggles call...oh what's the word..." she trailed off. "Superheroes! Yes yes, those fictional people with complicated story lines that last decades. Victoria told me about them. The green one sounds menacing" she wrinkled her nose

She sighed. Victoria had told her about it.

"Something inside me tells me she's out there." she commented. "She has to be"

Haley looked outraged at Tess. "The Hulk is amazing! No dissing the Hulk!" she said with big eyes, and then grinned, "Nah, he can be a bit out of control."

Her grin turned to a consoling smile. "Then we'll find her, Tess. I promise," she said softly.

Tess' eyes soften at her promise and she let out a soft smile. Haley didn't need to promise, but when she did, Tess knew she could really trust her. Before she viewed her more of an acquaintance, but now she saw her as a personal friend. No one needed to promise her to help her find someone important to her.

"I believe you" she whispered softly. "Thanks"

Haley gave a firm nod. "All right then," she said and walked over to Tess, linking her arm through hers, "Now let's go make a plan."
