The Hamburg Attack (Niobe and Viktor)

Niobe had been working in the cafe like she normally does, and she looked around the place, everything was clean, and everyone seemed happy with everything, especially the new cake that she had made today, it seemed as if it was going to be sold out any time now.

When she heard the little bell in the cafe jingle, Niobe looked up and smiled pleasantly at the seven men that had come in, true they all looked very intimidating but Niobe always tried never to judge by appearences instead she smiled gently at them and asked for their order.

As soon as they spoke she knew they were British. Many people in the cafe seemed to be getting very agitated, especially one little old couple in the corner, they appeared to want to leave but one of the gentlemen were blocking their way. This couple came in the cafe a lot, The Strauss' were close friends of Niobes and she smiled warmingly to them.

When she looked back to the men, she gasped as she found their wands drawn and they looked as if they were about to attack her, she yelled for everyone to get out of the cafe, but some of the men were already blocking off the door. They began to cast spells. People began to start screaming. Ducking behind the bar Niobe wondered what she could do, and she picked up a tea tray, whacking one of the men over the head with it.

Knowing this was a stupid move as soon as he turned his wand on her Niobe didn't even have time to fumble for her own before she was thrown into the wall by one of their spells. Her trilby hat was knocked off and she scurried to place it back onto her head. By this time most people who could fight were doing so, and as she peeked up by the bar again she could see a few men had already fallen.

Gasping when the man picked her up by her wrist, Niobe whimpered slightly when he jeered at her, making lude comments, and she closed her eyes tightly, hoping that whatever they were going to do...it would be quick and painless.

Then. With a crack of pain, Niobe blacked out.

Viktor was on his way to meet Niobe at the cafe where she worked with a dozen white roses in his hand, whistling happily as he moved down the street. It had been a little while since the attempted kidnapping and Viktor was finally starting to feel his anger towards those responsible, dead though they were, slowly subside.

As he was approaching the cafe he heard spellfire in the area, spells shouted by english voices, and his instincts were immediately on high alert. Dropping the flowers, Viktor took his wand out with his right hand and a knife out with his left. Charging towards the cafe he instantly noticed who were British simply by the fact that they were the ones with wands.

But what really got his blood boiling was that one of them was holding Niobe, who was limp and seemed to be lifeless. On top of the residual anger at the kidnappers, white hot fury washed into Viktor's blood and he immediately attacked,

"Rumpo!" he shouted, hitting on of the men in the chest with the dark spell. The man paused for a second before literally exploding, his bones acting as shrapnel and taking down the person closest to him. Before the nearest man could react, Viktor was on him. Stabbing the man in the chest, Viktor roared and moved the man's body, using his corpse as a shield from other attacks. Throwing the dead man towards another, Viktor roared with rage and threw himself across the cafe at the man who had been holding Niobe. Tackling the man to the ground, Viktor pinned the man to the ground,

"YOU DIE FOR TOUCHING HER!" he roared, magic amplifying his voice. He cradled the man's head in both of his hands before stabbing his thumbs into the man's eyes. While the man squirmed, Viktor began to focus his magic to his thumbs, "YOU DO NOT DESERVE TO LOOK AT HER!"

The magic burst outwards, fire burning white hot into the man's eye sockets and into his brain. His screams were terrible but Viktor didn't care. After a few moments his screams abruptly stopped. Climbing off of the man, his thumbs surprisingly clean, Viktor looked around for the other four.

They'd run off.

Angry that some of the men who had attacked Niobe had escaped, Viktor prowled over to the man who had been caught by the bone shrapnel. He was dying but he wasn't dead yet. Moving over to him, he aimed his wand at the man's face,

"P-please...!" he man begged pitifully. Viktor paused for a second... before a spell shot out from his wand, exploding the man's skull like an egg. Putting his wand away, Viktor glared at the exit to the cafe, where the others had fleed, before moving over to Niobe, needing to make sure that she was alright,

"Niobe?" he asked tentatively as he moved closer, "Are you alright?"

Niobe vaguely could hear sounds of the attack still going on, she barely registered it however as she slipped out of consciousness again, she had thought that the spell that had hit her was merely a stunning spell, of course never having been hit by one before she was not sure if the cold sensation was what was supposed to be happening.

Could it have been something else? Was it blood? Niobe could not move and she fought with herself to try and make herself move but she could not, inside her mind she was willing herself to start wiggling her arms and legs but nothing happened.

Then she heard Viktor and wanted nothing more than to let him know she was alright, but she could not, it would seem as if her whole body was stunned so hard she could not give the slightest indication she was still alive, despite all her vitals still being there.

Viktor was beginning to get a little bit more woried with each breath he took as he neared Niobe and he was panting quite heavily from the adrenaline so he was already mad with worry by the time he was by her side. He turned her over onto her back and waved a hand in front of her eyes frantically. There wasn't any reaction.

Shaking a little bit, now angry at everything in the universe and blaming it for Niobe being hurt, Viktor checked desperately for a pulse. Upon finding one he immediately let go of the breath he didn't know he'd been holding. He muttered the counter spell but nothing happened. Frowning, Viktor gathered up more of his magic,

"Ennervate!" he cried out, the spell hitting Niobe with enough magic to break a dozen stunning spells.

Niobe felt a force hitting her so hard that she woke up screaming and her hand flew to her chest where her heart had begun to tremor unhappily with the amount of magic that had just been channelled through her, with a slight moan she lay back down on the floor and curled up into a ball.

That was before she saw one of the bodies next to her. Or what was left of it rather, and she screamed again, bolting upright and standing right up next to the bar, blinking and looking around, there seemed to be some happiness in the scene however, that the older couple, the Strauss' had managed to escape.

Seeing Viktor, Niobe limped over to him and almost collapsed into a large embrace with him;

"Oh Viktor." she sobbed "I hoped you would come, but then I blacked out and I thought, I thought that...I thought I would never see you again." Niobe cried.

Viktor had to admit that when Niobe woke up screaming, he had jumped up in surprise. Which was not exactly what you'd expect from someone who had just killed three people, executing one of them no less. The second scream he was ready for, it was probably because the closest body to her had burnt out sockets where the eyes had been. Hell, he was sure if you looked closely you'd see his brain.

Viktor made to follow Niobe over to the bar where she'd fled from the body but simply held his arms out and hugged her tightly to him instead when she rushed over to him as fast as her limping frame would carry her,

"It's alright Niobe..." he assured her gently, stroking her hand soothingly even as he glared at everyone else in the room, checking to see if they were not threats as well, "I'm here for you. I won't let anyone ever hurt you... and if someone does I'll make sure they never hurt you, or anyone else, ever again..."

Niobe saw that Viktor jumped up in surprise when she had screamed and she felt a little bit ashamed of herself however, it was a lot of magic and if she was honest with herself it had really hurt, a bit like getting an eletric shock, she supposed that Viktor's magic was much more powerful than her own.

It wouldn't be surprising. After all he was a much stronger wizard, and Niobe hardly used magic at all!

When she was hugged to Viktor Niobe immediately felt better, she knew when Viktor was here she was safe, and she was going to be able to stay safe. He wouldn't let her be harmed...even though she seemed to get into more danger than ever when she was with him.

"I know Viktor, I know." she whispered "What happened here? I mean..." looking back at the body Niobe blanched and took a deep breath "Who would co-ordinate such an attack on innocent people, there were elderly civillians and children here." she frowned.

Viktor was a little bit annoyed with himself for jumping out of surprise. He was supposed to be a strong wizard and a strong warrior type of guy. Jumping out of mild surprise was not becoming of a man such as himself! Even if it did still happen. But he was more annoyed at himself for over-powering the revising spell to such an extent. The scream alone told him that it had hurt Niobe and he hated the very thought of hurting Niobe.

Of course as they hugged each other both of them calmed down a little bit, Niobe seemed less inclined to scream and Viktor felt less of a blinding urge to find the other four. Slightly less blinding. When she asked what happened a dark look crossed his face,

"The British attacked." he growled in anger, "Damn scum decided that they didn't want to risk fighting professionals so they aim for the civilians... bloody cowards!"

Niobe couldn't help the flutter that went through her heart when Viktor started to speak how he used to, it was something that Niobe couldn't begin to explain, but it seemed that when Viktor was like this, she always got a little, hot under the collar.

It reminded her more of the man that she had fallen for, he had changed recently and it was something that she, and his brother, as well as his friend, had decided was not a very good thing. Although Niobe loved him regardless.

"Oh I do wish that this war would be over soon...it makes things so much more difficult...I sometimes think if it would be best for me to leave Germany altogether, I can't defend myself in times like these."

Pouting a little bit, Niobe pecked Viktor on the lips with a soft blush, before limping over to the Strauss' family, both were shaken, and Niobe went to get water for them and the children, filling lots of little cups with the liquid, before levitating them outside.

"Everyone should come into the back staff room, I don't think that you should be around this area, after all the Ministry workers may want to come and look at it."

Guiding the people through to the back, Niobe smiled softly and helped the older couple, letting them lean on her no matter how much it hurt her, she merely gritted her teeth and tried not to show it.

Viktor growled lightly at the thought of the attackers, mainly for the fact that they had dared to attack his Niobe. However, another thing that really got to him was the fact that four of them had managed to escape. He saw Niobe's cheeks becoming a little bit flushed and couldn't help the predatory grin that spread across his face. He shrugged,

"The war is good for one thing... it limits the number of British aurors still alive." he quipped before frowning, "Don't say that Niobe. I want you with me and I can't just leave my land while it burns."

He smirked happily when Niobe pecked him on the lips again. Viktor had to admit that letting his anger out, letting it have some measure of control, was working wonders for him. He'd demolished the three men in record time after all. Viktor had to admit that Niobe was right. As an auror as well as an Instructor he knew that the scene had to remain as close to untainted as possible and witnesses needed to be rounded up. He began to help heard people towards the room Niobe indicated before walking over to Niobe and two old people. Stepping between them, he allowed Niobe to lean on one side and helped the old people with the other,

"Are you hurt badly anywhere Niobe?"

Niobe's blush grew when she saw that old predatory grin spread on Viktor's face, she knew that whatever it was that had happened today had managed to somehow jolted him back to how he used to be. It was something that she was very glad of, but she would not voice that to Viktor...in case he did not agree with her.

"I don't want to leave, the only thing keeping me here is you." she smiled gently "You know I will be here for you as long as you want me to be Viktor."

When she was suddenly relieved of a lot of weight, Niobe almost fell over from imbalance but quickly clutched on to Viktor's arm, rectifiying herself with a small shy smile on her lips.

There was nothing that she knew of that was hurt badly, after all she had not had time to check, but she did not think that she was bleeding anywhere, so that had to mean that she was mostly alright.

"I'm fine Viktor, I think it was just the fall that twisted my hip or something, don't worry about me."

Then asking the Strauss' if they were alright, Niobe smiled gently when they said they were, but seemed eager to get away from Viktor, although Niobe did not know why.

Seeing Niobe blushing pulled at the predator he'd tried to hide. It stirred something inside of him and he had to actually fight the urge to bend her over something and have his way with her. He managed to reign it in but only barely,

"Well then you'd best be looking at staying for a long long time." he told her with the same, crooked, grin, "Because I want you by my side forever Niobe, you're mine after all."

Viktor almost chuckled at Niobe's small moment of lost balance but contained the urge. He didn't want Niobe to think he was laughing at her pain after all. Despite her words, Viktor did worry about Niobe. The rest of the people in the cafe could all go to hell as far as he was concerned but Niobe he really cared for, too much to simply not worry,

"I'll try not to worry but when the British attack your place of work I tend to worry." he told her with a small smile, "But I'll cast a daignostic charm later to be sure."

He noticed the old couple trying to edge away from him and arced an eyebrow. They seemed to shrink away from him even more, as if he'd attack them.

Niobe's eyes began to shimmer lightly with desire, after all this had been the man that she had originally met, the romantic posessive man that had swept her off her feet, gotten her into a bar fight and then seemingly disappeared for months.

Biting her lip gently, Niobe blushed again and ducked her head slightly;

"I suppose then I should probably look and see if I could find another job somewhere then, somewhere that pays a little bit better than this job." she smiled gently.

Nodding her head when Viktor told her that he was going to be able to cast a diagnostics charm on her to see if there was anything wrong with her, Niobe was happy that she would be able to be checked out properly.

Knowing that there was probably only a mild sprain at the worst of it, she didnt worry too much.

"I would like to make sure there is nothing too serious, even though I don't think there is. Are you alright, you...you have a bit of blood on your...your hands." she said, with wide eyes.

Viktor could tell that Niobe was beginning to get back into the whole 'angry viktor' thing as much as he was. He had to admit that it felt good to act like his old self again, even if it did mean that he was currently caught between the fantasies of taking Niobe against the bar and getting revenge on the other four who had escaped,

"I think that would be a good plan." he agreed with a small smirk, "You could always come and work with me up at the school... or at the ministry."

At Niobe's nod, Viktor waved his wand a little bit in the required patterns, muttering the spell under his breath as he did so. Frowning a little bit, he pushed some healing magic towards her lightly sprained ankle before smiling,

"Just a sprained ankle. Should start to feel a little better soon, I've sent some pain killing spells down to it." he assured her, before glancing at his hands and shrugging, "Don't worry... it's not mine."

Niobe smiled lightly when Viktor said that she could come and work with him up at the school, what would she do when she was up there? There were surely no positions open that she would be able to take? It all required knowledge that she herself did not posess, and never would.

"I don't think that there are any positions open that I could take Viktor, after all I can't do much, I can only do all the household things...and not much else." she smiled sadly.

Seeing Viktor frown, Niobe's heart leaped a little, was there something wrong after all? When he said that it was just a sprained ankle, Niobe relaxed and she smiled happily once more, feeling better already as Viktor sent the magic to her ankle.

"Thank you Viktor, it feels better already, I guess this means that I shouldn't really walk on it though until it's better. Oh well." she said waving her hand as if dismissing the thought.

When he said the blood wasn't his, Niobes thoughts drifted back to the body she woke next to...no? He couldn't have...

Viktor had to admit that he liked the idea of Niobe working with him in either one of his jobs. The main reason was that he would be much better suited to keeping her safe if she was working alongside him. Another reason was that he had thoughts of having his way with her in other places, including at work,

"I'm sure that's not true." he smiled a little bit before smirking, "We could ask The Doctor anyway. He's a nice guy, owes me a few favours too."

He chuckled a little bit when Niobe tensed and then relaxed again. Seemed she thought he'd found something wrong with the way that he had frowned. But she was already feeling better by the look of things, which meant that there would be no lasting damage, despite the British's best attempts,

"I'm glad, can't have you walking around in pain." he agreed before shaking his head a little bit with a small smile, "I might just have to carry you around for the rest of the day. Of course you'd end up staying with me and my house... but that's not a problem is it?"

Niobe was a little bit happier than she was before when the topic was taking her away from what had just happened, now she was awake she was beginning to feel a little bit cold, and she began to shake a little, so Niobe walked gingerly over to the cups of water.

"I don't want to get a job just because you call in a favour Viktor." Niobe pouted "I want to get the job because I got it fair and square."

Crossing her arms over her chest, Niobe hissed a little as all of her weight was put onto one foot, it was making that one sore now, so she leant against the nearest table. A smile still on her lips to show Viktor she was alright.

"W-well I wouldn't mind you carrying me around when I have to walk home, or you could take me to your house, whichever you wanted to to do, I don't mind either way whichever is easier." she smiled gently.
