A Lovely Wood (open) Empty A Lovely Wood (open)

Post by Humphrey Williams Sat May 19, 2012 12:29 am

Humphrey Williams walked into an eerily silent wood. When he looked around, he noticed that it was very possibly the most lovely wood he had ever seen. At the same time, with the dead quiet, it set him slightly on alert. It was simply too quiet, and that was a little unnerving.

He shrugged his shoulders and sat down against a large oak tree. Then he took out his sketchbook that he always carried on him. Grabbing his charcoal stick from a pouch he kept next to the sketchbook, he began to draw the wood around him. There was an assortment of different trees in this part of the wood. Oaks, rowans, tall pines at the edge, and a few sycamores farther in. Humprey started trying to capture the beauty of the woods around him, a demanding task. But, if he managed to capture a sliver of the stunning wood, he would be content with his work.

Matilda had once again slipped out of her family's grip. They were probably looking for her, but as muggles, they wouldn't reach this place as they wouldn't go here for some magical reason. Matilda was so glad that she had stumbled upon the magical world before the letter she'd get soon of her being a witch.

She was now walking in the same wood where she had found out about magic and then she saw a guy who looked older than her by three years or something. She walked up to him. "Hey!" she said happily, a ten-year-old's normal way of greeting.

"Huh?" he said, startled from his sketch. Humphrey was trying to put the finishing touches on his charcoal sketch of the wood. "Oh, hello. Aren't you a little young to be wandering around on your own out here?" he asked her. She only looked ten years old or so, and there wasn't a parent or older sibling in sight.

"Well, you may be a little young to be out here on your own. But, I don't mind, here. Look at this sketch, do you think it does a good job depicting this place?" Humphrey asked her. Then he handed her his sketchbook, open to the charcoal drawing of the wood. "Be honest about it too. If something isn't right tell me, and I can try and fix it."
