Anne had managed to get lost. She had no clue how. She always ended up lost. Now here she was in a tower. It was a nice view though. She smiled slightly and walked toward the edge. She had no wish to die. She just wanted to get a better look at the beautiful grounds.

When she got closer she noted that it was a very long way down. She smiled as she looked over the grounds. She really did like it here. She had a few friends but so much had happened to her. Not that she remembered any of it. It was all blank. She had fainted when she had found out that she had magic. As she looked over the grounds she wondered why she couldn't be blessed and have an easy life. She knew it could be worse. She could still be dead.

She was too absorbed in her own thoughts to notice where she was stepping. As she stepped near the edge she lost her balance and fell over. She managed to hold on to ledge but she couldn't pull herself up. She was stuck. Really her luck just got worse and worse.

Humphrey was one of very few people who had actually been to the abandoned tower. He was going up there to paint the sunset, and noticed two sets of fingers on the ledge of the windowsill. The body was on the other side, hanging over the seven story drop that would kill her. He took off running, and grabbed her forearms. "I got you, I got you. Wait, Anne, what happened?" he asked her. This was not a good position to be in. If he hadn't come along...

Thankfully, Humphrey had always been athletic. Also, becoming a werewolf had increased his strength tenfold. So, he was able to easily pull her back into the tower without breaking a sweat. "Okay, what were you doing? I know, you are a Gryffindor, but you don't need to stand on a windowsill seven stories in the air to prove you aren't scared." he said, trying to make a joke to lighten the mood. "You could have died, Anne. I'm so glad I came along when I did..."

Anne was extremely relived when someone came to help her. She smiled at her savoir and breathed again once she was on flat land. She moved toward the centre of the tower not wanting to fall. She sighed and smiled at Humphrey.

"Thanks." She said. "I slipped. I wasn't trying to be brave. I just got too close to the edge." She said sighing. She really should be more careful.

"I was kidding. Trying to lighten the tension of the dramatic moment, you know." Humphrey told her. He smiled back at her. "Next time, don't look so far out the window. But, anyways, how are you?" he asked her. Anne was one of the few Gryffindors who he hadn't really gotten to know very well. She was a little younger than him.

"Oh yea, those paintings and sketches set up over there in the corner are mine. Want to come look at them?" he asked her. "I drew most of those around the trails and places by my house in Edinburgh, Scotland. It is sooo beautiful there. This one here is my favorite." Humphrey told her, pointing to the deer with the broken leg in the moonlit clearing. A depressing piece, but very, very moving. It moved him more than any of the other drawings or paintings he had ever done. Stirred a sad part of his heart and soul up and let it escape.

Anne shook her head. She had slipped it wasn't her fault. She didn't point that out to him though. She wasn't sure what she thought of him. He was unsure. She shook her head and looked over at his painting station. She wasn't one for art. She would rather fly. She smiled and wished she had her own broom. It would be fun to fly at her hearts content.

"That's cool," She said walking over. "I'm not really sure where I live any more. I don't remember." She said looking at the artwork. "I never was one for art." She said shaking her head. She had a feeling all her art would be depressing. She had been having strange dreams, of a shack and herself screaming in pain. Of course Anne had no clue that this had happened to her.

Anne seemed like a nice person. But since he had saved her from death because she fell out of a window, he wasn't sure what he thought of her yet. Maybe she is clumsy, or maybe something was on the ground and caught her foot. "Okay, that is fine. What do you like to do, Anne? I have lots of interests besides art." Humphrey explained to her.

Walking over to her, he patted her on the shoulder. "You okay?" he asked, turning serious. "It must have been frightening hanging there seven floors above the hard ground." He could imagine the terror, the fear. Because, that was what he felt when Charlotte's dad Professor Smith nearly killed him. And, also, when the werewolf bit him over the year he was at home helping out.

Anne smiled politely and wondered what else he liked to do.. She really had no clue. She liked to read. That was about it. she was a big bookworm before all of this.

"I like reading. I really don't remember much else. Really I read and sometimes write, that's about it." She said shrugging.

Anne shook her head. It wasn't at all scary. It was almost eye opening. She knew what it was like to be scared. She had seen some strange things. She had seen peoples fear. "Not really I just didn't want to fall and die." She said shrugging her shoulders. "I'm not really scared of much, not any more." She said sighing sadly, she was scared of being alone.

Her smile was nice, but not as big as some people smiled. Maybe she was a bit lonely. Then she said she was the bookworm type and he understood. "I love books too, major bibliophile. I am working on two original stories right now. One novel, and one the start of a series. Maybe if you want, I can lend them to you, and you can be my reader/editor. They are both action/adventure, one more fantasy focused, and one more science fiction mainly." Humphrey said, letting a big smile cross his face. Hooray for book lovers!, he thought.

"I understand, nothing much scares me. Not after I saw my parent's dead bodies after their car accident. That was when I was eight, then I saw my uncle die, and was attacked by a werewolf this past summer. Not to mention Charlotte's dad Cobalt literally grabbed my heart and tried to kill me first year here. I am a werewolf now too, pretty weird feeling, the change." Humphrey explained to her. "Honestly, I am just afraid no girl will ever want to be anything more than friends with me. Whenever I ask somebody out, I get shot down..." he said, frowning, and his eyes beginning to water a bit. "Crap, dumb emotions."

"So, favorite authors, and novels?"he asked her, bringing it back to the subject they both liked.

Anne smiled warmly. She was glad he liked books, she loved to red it was the best. She could spend a whole day in the library. She though of all the books she'd read. She had stolen a few of her mothers too. She laughed lightly and shook her head. "You sound like me." She said thinking of when people got her started on books.

She sighed she had no clue how her parents died. She was a bit lost. She sighed and shook her head. She didn't want to know if she had seen it. Bad things had happened to her that was for sure. A simple look at her proved that. She had freak carved on her face and mudblood on her arm.

Anne frowned. "That's not right. I know it's hard, maybe you haven't found to the right girl." She said shrugging. "It's ok, the guy I like is taken." She said shaking her head. "I had to fall for my best friend." She mumbled looking at her shoes. She would much rather have not like Damien.

"I like a lot of them. The classics and the new stuff." She said shrugging.

Humphrey started chuckling, "Us bookworms have less friends than those less well-read people. Our books our escape from the terrible experiences we've had, I am sure you've had some as well, judging by the way you are so reserved. You don't seem like somebody to be open and honest, and I was the same way when I first came here. But, a couple friends, and I started to open up. Lots of crying on girls' shoulders later, and here I am. Still emotionally scarred, and physically, but alive. Feeling like I fit in with Hogwarts for the first time in my life. Know what it is like to have a family with all my friends here. You can be part of it if you want to." Humphrey said, smiling at Anne. "Sounds like we have a lot in common to me, Miss Jones."

Humphrey just shrugged, "Who would want to love me anyways. I am a werewolf, emotionally damaged, clingy, overly sensitive, physically damaged as well, lots of popping joints and get sore on occasion just from walking around, or running. Pretty ugly, even though I do work out, so I have a tiny bit of muscle. Who wants to put that much work into helping me become boyfriend material? I don't deserve it either, the one girl I had a shot with. Charlotte Smith, I ended up hurting because she got jealous of me going to the ball with somebody else. Even though we had talked about it, and she had her own date. So, I don't see why she got so jealous, when I was being as nice as I could towards her date. Now we are still best friends, and I know her boyfriend pretty well, but I still love her. I am in love with my best friend too. Keiba Namid, she is so awesome!" Humphrey bellowed with his enthusiastic attitude, he loved her so much.

Anne nodded she, according to Damien had many bad things happen to her. Her parents died, she was tortured and scar'd. Her life had been anything but easy. She had done many things. She had killed herself came back from the dead, somehow and lost her memory.

"Well I don't have any family." She said shaking her head. "I don't know who my friends are other than Damien, Tess and Eva. So having someone else to be there would be great." She said smiling slightly.

Anne shook her head, really that was no reason not to love someone. Really he was a nice guy. He should have girls all over him, but no girls were stupid apparently.

"You are not as bad as me. I'm the seer who lost her memory, apparently has a German after her blood. She has tremors every night for some reason. I've yet to figure out why. She has freak on her face, mudblood on her arm. No self confidence, and not very appealing to the yes." She said shaking her head at her self. "If there is a person who would go out with me, it'd be a miracle. You well really nothings wrong with you, girls would be lucky to have you." She stated truthfully.

It's a Long Way Down (Open) Empty Re: It's a Long Way Down (Open)

Post by Humphrey Williams Fri Jun 01, 2012 1:17 am

"I'm so sorry. Having at least one family member is better than nothing. Though, to be honest, I don't think she is taking care of herself very well since my uncle passed. When I go home after this semester, I have a feeling she is going to be bone thin, not sleeping properly, and depressed. I just hope I can help draw her out, and get her to talk about her feelings." Humphrey explained to Anne, telling her he did appreciate his aunt, but she was heading steeply downhill right now.

"Well, if you don't think I'm too annoying, then I would be glad to be your friend. As well as become like a big brother to you, if you want one who is as messed up as I am. I've tried to commit suicide as well Anne. But dumb Charlotte Smith went and played the hero. Sometimes, I wish she just would have let me die. It would have been easier than watching her and Airen hopelessly in love with each other. I'm happy for them, I truly am. Yet, at the same time, she almost ended up with me. So close, but Airen had been friends with her on the train, whereas I met her in class. He had a start on winning her over before I got there." he said, and his eyes started to fill up with tears.

"We are still friends; but, now, I want we could've had. Char and I got along great, but it is awkward for me. Try to make it less awkward, but it still is." Humphrey hung his head as he spoke quietly. "I feel like if she wouldn't have let me get so close, maybe, just maybe, I wouldn't have gotten hurt quite as bad as I ended up getting hurt. Sometimes I wish I'd lost my memory, all I think about when I look into my past is dead parents, dead uncle, Char and Airen's perfect dating relationship, the dead students from the first year here, when I was still here. Then, a werewolf attacking, and biting me. Now, the most horrifying thing, is the full moon, I see myself turn into this...creature. And know for a fact that if I come across a human, I would probably be too weak to stop the instincts from attacking. Nobody needs to write mudblood or freak on me to tell I am one. They see my with the dark circles, and I bet more than one person has put together it happens at the full moon. Not to mention how much thinner I am then I used to be." Humphrey said.

"Any girl would have to try to deal with my werewolf transformation, my emotionally damaged heart, which has been shredded to pieces, and plus this ugly mug." he said, pointing at himself. "Add in all the scars that I have, my crazy, energetic part, and I am lucky I have even one friend. I disgust myself, now when I see blood, the werewolf in me tells me to pounce and attack. I am more of a monster than you realized." he told her, starting to let his voice fill with emotion.

"Who could love a boy, who at the first sight of blood, wants to drink it, and bite into flesh. I am a monster, and nothing can change that now. Nothing, because I was too weak, and too stupid to fight off a Werewolf. I'm pathetic, and that is the truth. You are the one who is dating material." Humphrey said, changing the subject back to her.

"You are pretty, smart, very nice, braver than I am, and you seem to be a good friend. From what I have learned about you so far, that is." he said, poking her lightly in the ribs. "Anne, you are the catch here. Not the dumb, idiotic boy, with a furry little problem." he said, making fun of his lycanthropy.

"If anybody ever calls you a freak, I am going to prank them so badly they will never even so much as irritate you without my knowing about it. I'll keep a watch on you, no bullying of Gryffindors while I'm around." Humphrey smiled at Anne.

Anne sighed. "Really because someone chose to make you a victim it's your fault?" She asked. She didn't think that was fair. She shook her head. "No it doesn't work like that." She said.

"Me please, no I'm not but I don't feel like making myself feel bad, so I wont say why." She said shrugging. "Well lets not talk about it." She suggested. She had no clue of her past.

"Well, maybe not, but I still feel like a freak because of it..." he admitted to her. "Maybe I am not as bad as I think I am, but neither are you. From the time I've met you, all I've seen is an innocent girl who has been tragically abused. You are each, and every single one of those things I described you as, Anne. I am generally a good judge of character, too." Humphrey said, smiling warmly at her.

"You really have no clue how great a person you are, do you? None at all." he said. "If you don't want to talk about it now that is fine. You like any Quidditch teams, or players?" Humphrey asked her. "I play Quidditch, ya know." he said, making a joke. "Just kidding, can you imagine if I was like that. It would be terrible, and I have a feeling I would get slapped even more than I already do if I behaved that way."

Anne smiled glad the subject was dropped. She really wasn't that great, but she didn't voice what she thought again. She just stayed silent. She listened to him and was a bit confused about what quidditch was.

"What's quiddtich?" She asked. "I like flying though the lesson was great." She said smiling. "Who slaps you, I want to get to know them."S he joked grinning widely to let him know that she was teasing.

"Quidditch is the fun sport that we play on those awesome brooms. There are two balls that zoom around trying to kill you, and two people on each team trying to keep the evil balls, Bludgers, in check. Those are the Beaters. Then, there is a big round ball with some indentations in it to grab onto, called the Quaffle. Which three people called Chasers pass around, and try to get through one of three hoops. The three hoops are up high in the air, and there is a Keeper for each team, guarding their own set of three hoops. The, last, but not least, is the team's Seeker. Now, the Seeker of a team tries to catch the Golden Snitch. It is a tiny, fast, gold ball that is insanely hard to spot. That is what I want to do, or Chaser if they don't want me as Seeker. Fun sport, violent, takes skill, and lots of fun!" Humphrey said, explaining the sport to Anne. She might like it. Give her a good way to release anger and frustration in a fun, controlled environment.

"Flying is one of my favorite things to do. It is a freeing experience, and I love the feel of the wind rushing through my hair. Oh, lots of people have, Anne. I'm sure you will one of these days, I am always stumbling over my words." Humphrey told her. "Let's see Anne, there was Keiba Namid, Charlotte Smith, those were the two strongest girls that slapped me. Umm, Tess McCartney does it playfully sometimes. Let's see, Pyxis, I know she hates me, but I forget if she ever actually slapped me or not..." he said, trying to think of anybody else who slapped him. That was all he could think of, for the moment at least.
