Lesson One - Second Years Empty Lesson One - Second Years

Post by Darcie Vane Tue Jun 12, 2012 6:35 am

Darcie smiled happily, she never thought she would be so glad to be back at Durmstrang but she was, there was however that sadness that she would no longer be able to see Luther as much as she wanted to...and that she would be in the same castle as Mikhail, and it still made her upset to think of him walking out on her.

Biting her lip Darcie shook her head and composed herself for the lesson ahead, she knew that she needed to be happy for the students as they would most likely be nervous after having to take the ship to the school once more after the attack.

With a happy little flick, Darcie wrote in chalk the lesson point on the board;

Lesson One - Second Years Empty Re: Lesson One - Second Years

Christielle entered the room, eager to start the lesson. "Good morning, lehrer Vane!" she smiled. She was glad that lehrer Vane wasn't one of the lehrers who left Durmstrang. Or maybe lehrer Vane would leave. But she didn't want to think about that at the moment. She was only happy that no one was killed in the attack of the British Rebels.

Sitting on one of the seats, Christielle looked up at the board. She took out her book to have a little reading before class starts.

Lesson One - Second Years Empty Re: Lesson One - Second Years

Soothsaying, this is what Durmstrang called Divination. Lars had been unsure whether or not this subject was worth taking, because he had never really believed in it. Maybe he was wrong, or maybe he just didn't have the gift of fortunetelling. He suspected that for some people, it really did work. Somehow, he doubted he was one of those people, but he still wanted to find out.

Taking the seat next to Christielle, he got out his Divination book. Opening it to Omens, Lars began to read. If this was true, then omens could really tell you the general direction of your future. Interesting, very interesting. "Hello Professor Vane, this looks like it will be a very intriguing lesson. Are omens generally accurate, or not?" he asked her.

Lesson One - Second Years Empty Re: Lesson One - Second Years

Christielle looked up, seeing Lars walk in. She gave a small wave before looking at her book again. She heard Lars' question, and smirked. "I thought you were good in nearly all classes, but I guess not all are good at soothsaying," she said and smiled lightly, "But as for myself, I think some are quite accurate."

She closed her book since lehrer Vane was about to start. Christielle blinked at the ceiling and prepared for the lesson. "But then again, you should wait for Lehrer Vane's answer. After all, she is the professor here." she added silently.

Lesson One - Second Years Empty Re: Lesson One - Second Years

Darcie smiled happily at the class these were some of her most hard working students and she was always happy to see them in her lessons, she knew they would contribute so well.

"Hello again students, it's nice to see you once more, I'm glad you're still taking soothsaying."

When Lars asked about omens, Darcie smiled gently and she thought a little about how to phrase her answer before she spoke, she wanted to make sure it was understandable after all.

"Omens are no more accurate than any other method of Soothsaying, it depends entirely on the strength of the art of those who predict the omen." she smiled happily "Could one of you offer me one example of an omen from your text book?"

Lesson One - Second Years Empty Re: Lesson One - Second Years

Post by Mirri Kinne Thu Jun 14, 2012 2:20 am

Mirri was trying really hard to control her nerves as she gathered her things up for the first day of school. She hadn't had a chance to talk with Eleri yet about getting lost in the forest, and she was afraid she had totally disappointed her sister. What she was most afraid of is being sent home. Maybe if she did good in class it would make up for it. She was so worried about things that when she looked at her watch she realized she had only minutes to make it to soothsaying. Needless to say she had to run to get there on time. All she needed was to start off late.

As she skidded to stop at the door, she paused long enough to catch her breath and straighten her shirt. Then taking a deep breath she opened the door and walked into her first class at Durmstrang. Only hoping that it would prove to be useful in the future.

Seeing the instructor sitting in the front of the class she grinned and waved. "Do you have assigned seats or can I sit anywhere? I'm really new to all this. My name is Mirri by the way'

Christielle looked up as the door opened. She had been flipping through her textbook for some omens, but a Risiko girl entered the room before she chose an omen. "Hello Mirri, I'm Christielle. You may sit anywhere. There are no assigned seats." she said nicely.

She raised her hand when she found a certain omen. "There's... there's the Grim. Omen o-of death, I think?" Christielle said, unsure of her answer.

"Thanks, Christielle, I kind of got lost on the way here. What page are we on." Looking up she realized that class had already started. Embarassed Embarrassed she mumbled an apology and took her book out quickly and looked up the word omen in the index.

'When will I ever learn to just stop. This is the third class in a row I've done this in'.

Finding omens she began scanning the page for one she knew. Raising her hand she listened to Christielle, and quietly waited to be called on.

Darcie smiled happily when she saw another student enter her class, she was so happy that she could persuade another person to come along and give soothsaying a trial run, she was sure that she would love it when she started to divine for herself.

When Christielle gave her answer, Darcie clapped excitedly and nodded her head;

"Well done, 10 points to Verstand, the Grim is the darkest omen of Wizardkind, and it has been known to be seen before a lot of deaths of not only wizards but muggles alike." she said with a small smile "Now if you could all find an example of a different omen, we will look at those next lesson."
