Herbology: Fourth Year, Lesson 1 Empty Herbology: Fourth Year, Lesson 1

Oh it was a new year, and she was excited to see who was still in her class. She loved teaching Herbology, it was a passion of hers and she wondered if she could make it all the more livelier.

'Screechsnap' she wrote neatly on the board and waited for her students to enter.

Victoria moved quickly to the greenhouse, excited to see the professor again. Like her name, she was always sunny and happy.

Taking a seat near the front, she said, "Good morning, Professor. How was your summer?"

Curious about their next topic, she opened her text and started searching for it.

Herbology: Fourth Year, Lesson 1 Empty Re: Herbology: Fourth Year, Lesson 1

Entering the classroom, she enjoyed the feel of it all. Honestly Herbology was one of the classes she felt right about, as if it was one of the classes that was genuinely entertaining.

"Mornin' "
Sitting down beside Victoria, she sent a grin to both her friend and Professor Del Sol waiting for the others to arrive.

Herbology: Fourth Year, Lesson 1 Empty Re: Herbology: Fourth Year, Lesson 1

Herbology was always a hands-on class, and Humphrey was glad for that. He didn't feel like thinking particularly hard at the moment. Definitely couldn't daydream, but note-taking, and that kind of thing he did not want to do at the moment. Right now, he had a splitting headache.

Once in the greenhouse, he saw that Victoria and Tess were sitting next to each other. Since he had yet to patch up his friendship with Tess, and Victoria was Tess' best friend, he decided to sit on the opposite side of the classroom. "Good morning, Professor. Hope your summer holidays went better than mine did." Humphrey said in a slightly frustrated and depressed tone of voice. All he wanted to do was go over there and straighten things out with Tess, but now wasn't the time.

Lily smiled brightly as she saw at least three students in her class. Hopping off her seat she walked towards the front of the class.

"Summer was lovely Mr. Williams thank you for asking" she said humming.

She lowered the curtains and dimmed the sun taking in the energy before she began the lesson knowing Miss Rossmund's aversion to the sun.

"Can anyone tell me a fact about the Screechsnap?" she asked smiling.

Victoria raised her hand. "They are categorized as semi-sentient. They have the ability to feel both pain and pleasure."

She didn't know much about the plant. But she'd read a book during research in the library about certain plants having feelings.

Lily smiled brightly.

"Very good!" she said smiling. "Screechsnap is a magical plant with the ability to move and make noise. It is also described as a "semi-sentient" plant for having the ability feel both pain and pleasure as Miss Rossmund said. Today you will be making a scientific experiment. You will pair up and practice experiments out of your own creativity, and see how the plant responds. Creativity earns extra points! Now..Begin!"

Victoria smiled at the creativity allowed in this lesson. She quickly walked over to a plant and pulled out her wand, thinking.

She was curious how it would react to different elements, so she tried the Aguamenti spell first. When the water shot from her wand the plant seemed to squirm in delight, humming happily.

She then moved on to a more interesting spell. Using the Blue Bell Flame from last year, she lit the end of her wand. Taking care not to place her wand too close to the plant, she moved it towards it. The plant moved from the smooth squirming to a more frantic jerking back and forth. It's humming now a high pitched screeching.

Satisfied with the experiment, she quickly distinguished the spell and jotted down notes about the plants' reactions.
