Fourth Years - Lesson Two

Today he was teaching the fourth years a tricky charm, the bubble-head charm. It was particularly useful if you needed to hold your breath for extended periods of time. There was no incantation for it, so he just wrote 'Bubble-Head Charm' up on the board. Sitting down, he waited for his class to arrive.

Airen entered the classroom. He paused when he saw that the librarian was teaching the class today. He mentally shrugged and took his normal seat at the front of the classroom. He looked up at the board and read the charm they would be practicing. he opened his textbook and read over what the spell did.

"Good morning, sir," he said politely as he paused in his reading to greet the professor.

Zara walked into class, noticing the librarian was teaching charms this lesson. She sat down at a seat in the middle of the class and got her stuff out.

She looked up at the board. "Bubble-Head Charm?" she said to herself. She'd heard of it but she didn't know what it did. Curious, she looked through her text book to find the charm.

Victoria walked into class, surprised to see the librarian at the head of the class. She guessed she should be used to changing teachers by now. The Headmistress was probably glad to have less of a workload.

Taking her usual seat, she waited for class to start.

"Good morning Mr. Auditoren, Miss Hawkins, and Miss Rossmund. Today as you can see, we are working on the bubble-head charm. Now, can any of you tell me what this charm is used for, and what it does?" Horst asked his students. He didn't expect any of them to know it, but if they did they could earn points for their house.

Victoria raised her hand.

"If I'm remembering correctly, is that the one that creates an area around the head to breathe? Like if you go underwater or something."

She'd read about it in passing once, but there had seemed to be some discretion as to how the bubble actually formed: around the whole head or just the mouth and nose.

"That is correct Miss Rossmund. Ten points to Gryffindor. I am afraid we are out of time for today though; so, no homework for this week. Next week we will practice the bubble-head charm, and work on the next one. Class dismissed." Horst told them all. All in all, it wasn't a bad first day teaching.
