Lesson Three - Fourth Years Empty Lesson Three - Fourth Years

Post by Briony Romain Mon Jul 09, 2012 10:37 pm

Briony had a lovely Christmas with her family, it was her first Christmas with her baby Raven and she had spoilt her a little bit too much, after all she had every right to when they had their first child, she wouldn't mind either she was sure.

Sighing a little she sat down behind her desk and wondered if the rest of the class had a pleasant Christmas too, then she rolled her eyes when she thought that one of them would have probably killed themselves or something over the break, they seemed to have more drama in their lives than muggle soaps operas.

Waiting for the class to begin Briony wrote the tasks on the board;

Lesson Three - Fourth Years Empty Re: Lesson Three - Fourth Years

Airen walked into the classroom, and sat down at his desk. He had had a pleasant Christmas with his aunt. It made him sad that he couldn't spend it with all his friends from his old life, but he counted his blessings. He had gotten and given some very thoughtful and generous gifts, but his greatest gift was a diamond shield that he received from his aunt. She told him that it was a family heirloom. It was combat worthy, and that's what mattered to him.

He took out his ink, quill, and parchment. He looked up at board and read the spell they were going to learn. "Good morning, Professor," he said in greeting. He liked this class. It had to be one his favorites, along with Infiltration and DADA.

Humphrey's Christmas had been spent at home with his Aunt Julia. It had been almost two years now since his uncle's death, but his aunt was still distant and withdrawn. He was starting to doubt she would get better, despite that he tried to help her whenever he was home. She had gotten him a set of stencils and a small sketchpad for Christmas. Definitely would come in handy, he always needed art supplies.

Duelling was definitely one of the best classes, and Headmistress Romain was probably his favorite teacher. She always knew what she was doing and had a good lesson for them. "Good morning, Headmistress, how was your break?" Humphrey asked. He took the seat next to Airen and got out his writing supplies.

Briony looked over the classroom and tapped the rune on her desk, a cup of coffee appeared and she sipped it as she looked at the first year students, still very happy that she at least had some in her class that bothered to turn up.

"Good day to you Airen, Humphrey, my Christmas break was lovely thank you. Today as you know we are learning the spell 'Protego Horribilis'."

Turning she tapped the board to highlight how the spell was to be written down, and then she turned her attention back to the two students in her class, a small catlike smirk on her lips;

"Who can tell me what this spell does?"

This was something he had learned from studying over the summer. "It is a larger version of the Shield Charm. From what I read, it protects a very large area against all kinds of dark magic." Humphrey answered. He had also read that it was used in the Battle of Hogwarts to try and keep Voldemort and his minions out.

Sometimes he felt a bit odd studying before classes, but it paid off when trying to answer questions in class. This spell seemed like a very useful one to learn as well.

Briony nodded her head curtly when Humphrey gave the right answer to her question, indeed the spell was used to make the caster sheilded from dark spells and it was one that would be very useful for the students to learn.

"Well done Humphrey, 10 points to Gryffindor." Briony said, swiftly "This spell is one that, obviously we cannot practice in class, as we have no dark magic spells in our arsenal, however it is imperative that you learn it on your own, you will be tested next lesson."

Looking at the door Briony nodded her head and gestured to it; "Now the lesson is dismissed, I'll see you both next time."
