Lesson Three - Fourth Years Empty Lesson Three - Fourth Years

Post by Darcie Vane Tue Jul 10, 2012 1:25 am

Darcie had a lovely Christmas, she had spent the day itself with her father and then went to visit her friend Luther, she had thought that he would like to be around someone when it was Christmas as it didn't seem like he would have too many friends to call in on.

Now however she was more than happy to be back at school, it was good to be here again and she was glad that she had missed the rampage of Wraiths that raven lead through the school on Christmas.

Biting her lip she tapped her rainbow painted nails on the desk in front of her, she was so excited to begin the lesson today, turning she wrote on the board the lesson topic;

'Black Magic Spells'

Lesson Three - Fourth Years Empty Re: Lesson Three - Fourth Years

Dmitra walked into the Dark Arts classroom, feeling rejuvenated already. This class just had that kind of effect on her. Moreover, she had relaxed quite a lot during the Christmas holidays, explored her new school, and so she was in quite a cheery mood.

Dmitra glanced at the topic on the board, and her smile grew brighter. Oh, she definitely liked this topic. After wishing Professor Vane, she walked to her seat and sat down.

Vladimir walked into his class, he was looking forward to it and his excitement was running high with the tournament almost over, he hoped that Durmstrang would win, but he also hoped that he was going to be able to get a chance to compete in this round...he had been waiting for it after all.

Looking up at the task on the board, Vladimir grinned wolfishly, this sounded like his kind of lesson.

Lesson Three - Fourth Years Empty Re: Lesson Three - Fourth Years

Lucian had a quiet Christmas.

He had hoped to go back to see Raziel. But of course he couldn't. Because the stupid Reporter had decided that it would be a good idea to kill her, now the only thing that was on his mind was getting revenger for his sister.

When she had died all her energy, all her money had gone to him, and he was crackling with the power, it was almost breaking through him with his eyes glowing permenantly.

Which meant, he was not in the mood for this lesson. At all.

Lesson Three - Fourth Years Empty Re: Lesson Three - Fourth Years

Post by Aquila Wilson Wed Jul 11, 2012 10:25 am

Aquila yawned in exhaustion as she tried to get some rest before her Dark Arts class. She hadn't slept at all the night before, un-able to find sleep when all she felt was the agonising pain in her chest. It was getting worse, and she knew she'd have to owl her mother soon.

She looked up and realised it was time to go to the lesson. She wanted to just skip it, but wouldn't do that to Darcie. With reluctance, she stood up and dragged herself to the class.

She didn't look around the classroom as she dropped into the seat closest to the door up the front and rested her head in her hands.

Darcie couldn't help but notice that Aquila seemed to be a little down today and she made a note to try and find her to talk about it later on, maybe she needed some help or something, but she didn't want her to suffer on her own.

Deciding that it would be best to start the class now, Darcie smiled happily and clapped her hands gently to gain the students attention.

"Hello again everyone, I hope you all had a lovely holiday and enjoyed yourselves at Christmas, today we are looking at different spells that could be classed as 'Black Magic' spells, there are some very clear examples that you all should know about if you want to suggest some ideas?" she asked with a hopeful smile.

Lesson Three - Fourth Years Empty Re: Lesson Three - Fourth Years

Dmitra raised her hand, last time Professor Vane had cheered her up when she was extremely exhausted by the second Tournament task, and Dmitra intended to reciprocate her gratitude by being as active in class as she could. "Black magic is classified in different ways by different people. Some people take black magic to be only voodoo spells or necromancy, which is why reanimating an Inferius, or a corpse, is a clear example of Black Magic." Dmitra recalled a picture of an Inferius she had seen and shuddered slightly.

"Others treat even torture to be a form of Black Magic, or mind control, so the Imperius and the Cruciatus, can also be interpreted as Black Magic, if desired."

Darcie smiled happily when Dmitra raised her hand to answer the question, she was always the student who gave her the best answers and she was glad to have her in her class, the two boys just seemed to be there to listen and take everything in, as they rarely participated.

Not really minding this however Darcie couldn't help but smile widely when Dmitra told her the answer that she had in fact been looking for when she had asked the question;

"Yes, that's 100% correct Dmitra! 10 points to Muhe house for your lovely answer, everything that we have covered in this class could techinically be called a form of 'Black Magic' as the topics are often used for evil intent." Darcie added.

Turning back to the class she asked; "Historically, when was there a rather large surge of black magic, and it does not have to be in Germany, other countries too can be used for examples."

Dmitra raised her hand again, by now she had gotten used to being the only one that responded in most of her classes, and seeing that it only helped her house won more points, she had no objection to it at all, "The two Wizarding Wars can be used as examples from history when there were large surges of black magic. First, the war against Grindelwald, where his followers used a lot of black magic, and second the war against Voldemort, when his Death Eaters were the users of black magic, or dark magic."

Darcie was beginning to realise that the only person who would respond in her class was Dmitra, she didn't know what she would do if she decided to leave her lessons later on in the year, she would probably try and coax one of the boys into answering.

"Well done again! 10 points to Muhe. Those wars are indeed great examples of rising of dark arts, but not only them, the Salem Witch Trials, and also the period in Medieval England where witches were heavily persecuted came about because of the increase of noticable dark arts."

With that Darcie wrote the last points up on the board, seeing the end of the lesson was near she nodded to the board;

"Can all of you write these notes down please before the lesson ends?"
