Treats For a Hero (Air and Char)

Charlotte had been so worried through the length of the tournament, it was so hard to hear and watch Airen getting into trouble, and those spiders had made her all the more scared that he was going to be hurt, but she was very glad he had managed to escape the Head of House duel that Humphrey had to go through.

Sucking on her lip piercing, Charlotte looked up at the trees outside of the sweetshop where Hannibal was perched, keeping an eye out for Airen, he was probably making sure that there were no attacks going on either, for a bird, he really was very smart.

Looking around the shop Charlotte picked up a blood pop and gazed at it strangely, she had never had one before and wondered if it actually tasted like blood or not.

Airen walked casually toward Honeydukes. He was glad to get to spend more time with Charlotte, his girlfriend. He still got a fuzzy feeling whenever he remembered that she had agreed to date him. How much luckier could a guy get?

He saw Hannibal perched outside. Smiling, he walked up and gave the bird a few strokes on the back. He looked inside and saw Charlotte sitting at a table. He walked up behind her and covered her eyes gently.

"Guess who?" he spoke softly in her ear.

Charlotte smiled happily when she heard Airen whisper into her ear, it made her feel kid of fuzzy inside and she didn't know why that was, maybe it was something she wasn't yet meant to understand. Turning around she looked at Airen and grinned;

"Hey there Air!" Charlotte greeted, turning around in her seat to see him better, with a small smile on her lips "It's very nice to see you again, how have your been?"

Placing the lollipop on the table she stood up and hugged Airen tightly, very glad to see him once more.

"I've been good. I'm just glad that the Tournament is over. I felt like I was in enemy territory," Airen replied. He returned her hug with gentle affection. He missed her during the Tournament. He placed a soft kiss on her lips before he asked her how things have been with her.

"How about you? What's new in your life?" he asked as he took a seat next to her.

Charlotte smiled happily and she returned the kiss when Airen began it, she had almost thought that he wasn't going to give her one for a moment, but she was veyr glad that he had done. Hearing his views on the tournament, Charlotte smiled gently this time, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear;

"Well I suppose that we technically were, but nothing was ever going to happen to us, Briony would never have allowed it to happen!" she grinned happily "Although it doesn't help much I suppose."

Sitting down once more Charlotte grinned and she thought about what had happened since she saw Airen last;

"Well Uncle James is back! I met him a few days ago, and, I'm meeting up with Grandad Chris in a few days time."

Airen smiled into the kiss when Charlotte returned it. He withdrew and sighed contentedly. He liked being Charlotte's boyfriend. he listened as she told him her thoughts on the tournament. He smiled at the thought that their Headmistress would protect them.

"At least we're safe now," he said, smiling.

Airen listened as she told him about what had happened in her life. He smiled as he saw her face brighten up when she talked about her family. He missed his aunt, but he knew he would see her when school let out.

"I'm happy for you, Charlotte," he said simply, a soft smile on his face.

Charlotte nodded her head and she was very glad that they were back in Britain now, after all there was no place like home and she did feel a lot safer here in places that she was familiar with and she was able to wander around knowing where she was.

"Yeah, I do like knowing where abouts I am, now that I'm back in familiar surroundings I feel a lot better." she grinned, twirling the lolly in her hand.

When Airen looked at her with that soft smile, Charlotte felt a little bit guilty, she was just so happy to have another person to add to her little makeshift family, that she had forgotten it might upset Airen.

"It's wonderful, I'm very very happy about getting another member to my family, are you excited to go back to Italy in the summer holidays?" she asked, changing the subject towards Airen.

Airen agreed silently with wanting to know your surroundings. He had been really afraid of going to Hogwarts due to not knowing what it would be like, but his aunt had boosted his confidence. He was glad he came. After all, he might not have met Charlotte.

"I know. It feels kind of scary and kind of exciting being in a new place," he admitted, remembering the thrill of being in Hogwarts for the first time.

Airen thought about his aunt. Over the Christmas break, they had gone to pay respects to Airen's fallen comrades. It was very tearful for Airen, as he hadn't really gone back to the ruins much. Even when he did, he avoided the graveyard at all costs. There were too many ghosts for him to set foot there. The experience was moving.

"I am. My aunt wants to meet you soon. She's even offered you a guest room in the villa," he said, smiling.

Charlotte nodded her head with a happy smile on her lips, she knew that she was going to have to meet Airen's Aunt soon, however she was more than a little nervous and she didn't know when she was going to be able to go and see them in Italy...

She was after all going on holiday with both Cobie and Christopher, maybe they could all visit? Or the adults could spend some time without her while she went to visit Airen?

"Well I'll ask Papa to allow me to come and see you two when we do our tour of Italy this summer, after we go on holiday to Spain with Uncle Christopher, he has a holiday home there!" she smiled gently.

Getting up from the table she smiled wider and gestured towards some of the sweet stands with her head;

"You want to have a look around the shop with me?"

Airen listened closely as Charlotte told him about her summer plans, and how she was going to ask her father about maybe paying Airen and his aunt a visit over the summer. He smiled. Airen hoped that she and him could ride the horses. He knew she didn't like heights, so maybe they could share a horse.

"I hope he agrees. I want to take you on this excellent horseback trail that I found in the countryside," he said, remembering going for a ride one day and finding the beautiful trail that now became his favorite thing to do when he was bored.

Airen smiled and nodded his head. He stood up and took her hand in his.

"Lead the way," he said, a kind smile on his face.

Charlotte tilted her head to one side when Airen mentioned going on a horseback ride, it would be lovely to go on one, however she didn't think that her experiences with horses, the only ones she having rode being the flying ones, were filling her with confidence for the trip.

Maybe however normal horses would be different, they wouldn't be taking off and flying at any rate!

"I think that as long as I am with you I would love to try riding a horse, as long as they aren't the ones that start flying when you sit on them." she giggled "You know how much they scare me!"

Looking around the shop Charlotte went back to the blood lolly stand and hummed to herself; "Do you know if these actually taste of blood or if they are just strawberry flavour...?" she asked, intrigued.

Airen remembered Charlotte's trepidation about the flying horses. He smiled softlyand took her hand gently in his. He gave it a soft squeeze, hoping to reassure her that he would be there when she needed him.

He chuckled at her attempt to make light humor about her fear of the flying horses.

"If you want, you can ride with me on one horse. That way, you can hang on to me if you get scared," he suggested, shyly. He didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable. He just wanted to make sure that she had a good time.

Walking up behind her, he wrapped his arms around her waist and placed his chin on her shoulder. "Knowing magic, I'd go with it tasting like blood," he said.

Charlotte smiled happily and she liked the idea of going on a horse with Airen, after all it was something that she felt much safer doing, rather than being on one on her own and not knowing how to ride it. After all she didn't know what it might end up doing!

"I would like that, I would feel much safer with you on the same horse as me, at least until I learn how to ride one properly." she blushed a little bit, feeling silly that she didn't know how to do something like that.

Smiling broadly when Airen wrapped his arms around her, Charlotte hugged him back and she rested her chin on his arms before making a face and putting the lollipop back on the shelf display that she had taken it from in the first place.

"Ick!" she pouted "Why would anybody want to have something that tasted like blood? Do you have a favourite sweet from this shop?" Charlotte asked.

Airen smiled when Charlotte accepted his offer. He had hoped that he wasn't being too presumptuous and was glad when he found that he wasn't. He kissed her cheek softly. He drew back and smiled softly at her.

"It's a date, then," he said, a gentle and caring smile on his face. "I'll teach you how when you visit," he promised.

Airen looked around the shop. He noticed quite a few wizarding candies, but he actually preferred muggle candies, specifically peppermints. Sure he was a so-called 'Pureblood', but he actually liked being muggle in some areas of his life. He smiled when he saw a stand that held said peppermints.

"I guess they have to make some kind of candy for vampires," he said, shrugging. "Call me un pesce four d'acqua (a fish out of water), but I prefer muggle peppermints to anything else," he admitted bashfully.

Charlotte was glad that Airen seemed to be getting happier when she told him that she wanted to learn to ride the horse in the first place, maybe it was something he felt like he was forcing upon her because he wanted to have that experience with her?

"I'm going to be very happy to learn, you're a good teacher after all Airen." she smiled gently, but then her mind was cast back to the lessons she had with Pyxis and Charlotte was slightly saddened.

Not knowing that Vampires would still be able to eat food, let alone candy, Charlotte hummed gently and shrugged her shoulders; "I suppose that must be why they have them."

Hearing that Airen didn't like many sweets Charlotte's mouth dropped open and she couldn't help but wonder why that was; "Really? You don't like any wizarding sweets? Even chocolate frogs?" she asked, incredulously.

Airen noticed that Charlotte seemed saddened by a thought that lessons with him may have triggered. He decided not to push things and keep her happy. He smiled softly when she remarked that he was a good teacher.

"Thank you for the compliment," he said, still smiling casually.

Airen shrugged. "It's only a theory. I may be wrong, and it tastes nothing like blood," he said.

Feeling rather silly, Airen blushed crimson. "Okay, maybe I worded that wrong. I like sugar quills, chocolate frogs, or anything with a minty flavor. Peppermints are just my favorite candy of all," he said bashfully.

Charlotte giggled lightly when Airen said that he was thankful for the compliment that she had paid him, after all he had helped her learn some little things about being a sword mage, she hadn't thought that he would have been able to have learnt it at all.

"You're very welcome Air." she grinned happily, before casting a look outside to Hannibal who caught her eye and cawed happily at her, before ruffling his feathers and falling asleep.

Humming a little, Charlotte picked up the Blood Pop again;

"Well maybe I should buy it so we can know for sure." she mused, wondering if it was a good idea or not, it wasn't too expensive, five knuts it said on the wrapper.

Seeing Airen blush Charlotte gently pecked his cheek and she grinned gently; "I like sugar quills too, but chocolate frogs are my favourite, I only have a few cards left to collect and then I'm done! Maybe they have some peppermint imps in here for you..."

Airen couldn't help the smile on his face when Charlotte giggled in that cute way. He smiled even more when he knew that he had caused her some form of joy. Wow, he sounded sappy.

Airen bowed ostentatiously in good humor. He got back up and smiled at her. He followed her gaze to Hannibal. The vulture met had just fallen asleep. He wondered where Altaïr was. The barn owl was a free spirit and would fly and wander the countryside for days at a time during the summer. Airen couldn't blame him. Being cooped up in a house could do that to a person.

"If you'd like, I'll try it with you," he offered, picking up his own Blood Pop.

Airen blushed deeper when Charlotte kissed his cheek. "How many cards are there?" he asked, his curiosity getting the better of him.

Charlotte smiled happily and she was glad that Airne was willing to try a bloodpop with her, she didn't want to have to buy it and then not like it, maybe if one of them liked it they could have both of the lollies instead of just throwing one away?

"I would like that." she smiled happily "After all we might both find out that we like them, you never know if you don't try I think the saying goes."

When Airen asked how many cards there were Charlotte grinned and she thought about roughly how many there would be, after all it was something she hadn't thought about before, but she had agood few boxes of the cards at home so...

"I think that there must be at least 250...maybe even more! I haven't counted up my cards in a while, do you have any collected from the frogs you;ve had?" Charlotte asked.

Airen smiled at Charlotte as he plucked his own blood pop from the stand. He looked at it. He had always a person who preferred to with the tried and true when it came to food, but he knew that he couldn't live like that forever. He thought he may as well start now.

"Your welcome, milady," he said, smiling good-naturedly. "And yes, that's how it goes," he added on.

Airen's eyes widened a bit when she told him how many cards there were. He knew there were a lot, he just didn't know there were that many. They must be a pay to try and collect all of them.

"250?! Wow, I knew there were a lot, but I didn't know there were so many. I've collected a few, but all the extras I give to friends. In total, no more than 150 or 125," he said, shrugging.

Charlotte giggled a little when Airen spoke to her like that, it really was nice to be called a lady, sometimes she didn't think that anybody she knew was as proper and gentlemanly as Airen was, which in her opinion was a good thing, it made him all the more special.

"I just hope that they aren't a waste of money and at least one of us likes them." she grinned, holding the stick of the lolly loosely in her hand as she wandered amongst the shelves of sweets in front of her.

Hearing Airen exclaim at the sheer amount of cards that she had Charlotte grinned and she felt almost porud of her collecting skills, she however had traded some so she didn't technically buy all of the cards that she had.

"Well I've only bought about as many as you have, but I traded things to get the rest of my collection, maybe I'll have some doubles that you don't have?" she suggested.

Airen smiled once again at the giggle that emanated from Charlotte's lips. He liked being able to make her happy. He followed her as they wandered through the shop. He picked a few peppermints from the jar and put them in his hand.

"If we don't, then at least we can say we tried," he said, shrugging nonchalantly. He looked at the lolly. He was a bit worried that it would taste like blood, but he knew that the taste was only as long as it was in his mouth.

Airen nodded his head at the thought of trading. He'd never really been much of a collector, but he was interested in the other cards they had.

"Sounds good. Maybe you could bring some when you come to visit," he offered.

Charlotte smiled happily when she saw that Airen had managed to find some of the peppermints that he liked so much, looking at some of the chocolate frogs, she picked one up and toyed with the box for a few minutes before she decided to buy that as well.

"Awwww you found some peppermints! I knew there would be some around here, I think that I'm going to go and buy my sweets now." she smiled gently before heading over to the counter.

As soon as she heard that she would be still going to see Airen at his Aunties house this summer, Charlotte smiled again, she had wanted to check but she didn't want to seem rude by intruding on the time he would be spending with his aunt.

"Why dont you get some sweets for your Auntie when you go and see her, I might bring her one of my paintings, what sorts of things does she like?"

Airen watched as Charlotte picked out some chocolate frogs. He smiled at her and picked a few of his own. He idly wondered who he was going to get this time, but in truth, he didn't really care. He just wanted something to nibble on for a bit.

"Yesh, I did. Guess that they did end up having them. Why don't I buy those for you. My treat," he offered kindly, following her to the counter.

Airen smiled at her and thought about what his aunt liked. The answer was quite simple. She had always had a fondness for horses. This was particularly why she owned a ranch and villa. People would come from all over Italy to rent, or buy horses from her.

"She really likes horses. It's the main reason behind the villa she owns."

Charlotte smiled happily and she couldn't help but blush a little bit when Airen asked if he could pay for the things that she wanted, it was so gentlemanly of him and she felt bad for allowing him to buy them for her, but it was just such a nice gesture.

"Oh thank you Airen!" she giggled happily, placing a peck on his lips as the cashier ran the items through the till and she waited anxiously to see where they would go to now "You have any idea where you would like to go after this?" she asked with a smile.

Hearing that Airen's Auntie loved horses, she supposed that made sense because he had mentioned the fact that she owned lots of horses and that they would be going horse riding themselves when they met up in Italy.

"I haven't got any paintings of horses." she pouted "I'll have to make one."
