Lesson Four - First Years

Briony sat at the desk in her classroom, after she had been hit by the spell in the streets she had been more than a little altered, and of course she didn't mind that, she thought that it was a good change, after all, it meant that she was getting more and more powerful.

Running her hand through her hair she looked at the empty desks and she waited for the students to arrive in their lessons, hopefully the least they would do would to be to arrive on time,

While she waited Briony took a long drag on her cigarette, she had made a charm to keep the smoke behind her desk, so the children couldn't moan about her doing it, closing her eyes, she waited for the students to arrive, the lesson point was on the board as usual;

'Protego'

Briony stood up and she flicked her cigarette ash to one side before directing her attention at the one student that was still left in her class, it was kind of pitiful that there was only one student but she hoped that that might change in the course of next year.

"Today we are learning about the spell 'protego' do you know what this spell does or what it could be used for in a battle situation? Housepoints may be given for correct answers." she said simply, looking directly at Melody as she waited for the student to answer her question, if of course she could.

Briony nodded her head, Melody was always very short and to the point, however she did not mind that, it was something that she liked about the girl, she didn't mess around or try to make sure that she gave a long and wordy answer to get more points.

"Right you are." Briony said rather sharply "10 points to Ravenclaw, now come up to the front of the class, you will cast a spell at me, and I will block it with Protego, you will then see how you can perform the spell, and will be expected to use it when I cast a spell back in your direction. Now, cast your spell."

Veronica entered the classroom. She was probably very late. "Sorry I'm late, Professor..." she mumbled as she walked over to the seat beside Melody.

She carefully and quietly watched what Melody and Professor Romain were doing.

Briony quickly raised her wand when Melody cast the spell at her, it was a rather juvenile spell that would be quite easy to dispell, so she cast the sheilding charm;

"Protego!"

Turning her head when she saw another student enter the class, Briony frowned and resumed her normal position, lowering her arms from her fighting stance. Walking towards the desks that the students were supposed to be sitting at, Briony glared;

"The points you just won from your house Melody have been lost by this late student here, now that you see how the spell works, you will be able to use it when we come back to school, you will need to learn it for our lessons. Class dismissed."
