Polar Opposited (Nick and Marylin) Empty Polar Opposited (Nick and Marylin)

Marylin had decided that she was going to look around the school a little bit more and she walked down the corridors, letting the heels on her shoes click on the floor as she looked around the corridor, it was pretty boring because all there was were paintings and suits of armour, like in every single corridor in Hogwarts.

Sighing she leant against the wall and ran her hands through her hair, she didn't want to be stuck here in Hogwarts with no excitement going on, suddenly she gasped a little and she fell backwards slightly as the wall opened behind her.

Straightening herself up, Marylin looked at the dark passageway and she grinned wickedly, this could come in useful when she needed to practice her rituals, as she had not yet found the room of requirement.

Nicholas had been wandering down the third floor, minding his own business, when he heard the sound of a gasp and someone trying to regain their balance. It was a long hall so the two sounds had echoed down to him. He immediately thought that someone could be hurt and rushed down the corridor to see a section of wall missing with a girl stood in it,

"Are you okay?" he asked her, concerned, "I heard you falling... I guess you caught yourself though."

He blinked and looked at the passage behind her,

"Woah... some kind of secret passageway!" he grinned, "Freaking sweet find! I'm Nick by the way."

Marylin turned her head when she heard someone coming down the corridor and her eyes flashed a little bit when they might have seen her falling over, it would be embarrasing above all else, especially when they would probably find it amusing.

"I am perfectly fine thank you." she said curtly "You were mistaken, I merely lost my balance when this passageway opened up behind me, that is all."

Straightening herself up again, brushing down her clothes to ensure that there was no dust on them, as Marylin scarcely wore her school robes except to class, where she had to, she would have got in trouble if she didn't.

"Freaking sweet?" she asked with a smirk "Im sure that there are better expressions to use in this situation, Nick. I am Marylin Mason."

Nick was sure that it must have been embaressing to admit that you'd lost your balance and almost fallen over so he didn't really blame her for the curt tone of voice. He chuckled a little bit but in a soft and good natured way that let her know that he wasn't laughing at her but with her,

"Well alright as long as you didn't fall over and hurt yourself." he agreed with a small grin, "But lucky you leant on this part of the wall eh? You've found an awesome secret passageway!"

He watched her dust herself down with unusual attention to all of the dust on her. It was rather amusing, he'd never seen anyone take so long to thoroughly brush themselves down of dust,

"Yeah I'm sure there are but seeing as how the professors tend to dock points for swearing I've kind of gotten into the habit of not." he remarked with a laugh before grinning, "Nice to meet your Marylin. You know we have three lessons together and I think this is the most we've ever spoken... say, do you know where this leads?"

Marylin swooped her hair behind her shoulders and she smiled gently, but on the inside she was smirking wickedly, you could certainly say that it was a lucky find and she would definately be using it when it came to learning about different spells.

"Indeed it does appear lucky and I intend to use it as much as possible, it doesn't seem very well utilised, which is a shame when you think about it." she thought, her lip curling up into a sort of smile.

His laugh was beginning to annoy her, and it made her twitch on the inside but she kept the same flawless outer expression of mild interest on her face as he continued to talk in his rather annoying and peppy manner.

"I saw you in our lessons yes, you're a Gryffindor student are you not?" she asked with a raised eyebrow "Well no because I have only just discovered it a few moments before you came along."

Nick watched Marylin swish her hair behind her with a small smirk. He was going to enjoy being around this secret passageway. Of course he had a feeling he might bump into Marylin here too but maybe they could become friends or something? He laughed,

"A shame for everyone else maybe but not for you... right?" he asked with a grin before peeking around in the secret passageway, "Pretty spacious too. If no one else came and found it you could have your own private den area or clubhouse or something."

Glad that she at least remembered him from the lessons, Nick grinned. It was always nice to be remembered after all. He nodded,

"Yeah I'm a Gryffindor. It's not so bad I guess but every once in a while you do catch yourself thinking people would just shut up." he told her with a smaller smile before grinning, "Well how about we explore it? I'll come with you. Better to have someone watching your back and not need them than to need them and not have them there right?"

Marylin thought that this boys rather annoying happy attitude was going to grate on it even more, it was really quite annoying that he kept talking to her and hanging around when she wanted to explore the passageway on her own, now she couldn't use it because it looked like he was coming back.

"Unfortunately you have now found it so I cannot use it for my own clubhouse can I?" she sighed, looking at her nails, as if she was bored by this conversation, it was really the longest she had spoken to anyone in a while.

Rolling her eyes internally, she thought about how sexist that sounded, why on earth would she need to have him come and explore the secret passageway with her? Its not as if she was going to be chucked into a secret room and trapped there.

"If you insist, however, I do not think that I'm likely going to find much trouble in a tiny passageway." she sighed, walking into the passageway, quickly casting a spell; "Lumos." to light her way.

Nick was aware that perhaps he was being a little bit too happy and a little bit too, well, Gryffindor-ish for his new Slytherin friend. If she would indeed be considered a friend. He decided that it was best that he tone it down slightly,

"Well you could." he reasoned with a small shrug as he looked around the passageway, "I prefer the great outdoors to a secret passageway anyday of the week so I won't bother you here. And if you ask me to, I won't tell anyone."

Nick knew that what he'd said could either come across as paranoid or sexist but he didn't much care as long as he was sure she was safe. He was like that, he just wanted everyone to be safe and happy. He shrugged a little bit,

"I didn't say it was likely and beside... well I'm curious too." he grinned a little bit before casting his own lumos spell. He paused, "Should we close it so no one sees the entrance?"

Marylin smiled lightly and she hid a smirk under her smile, however, inside she thought that he was being quite endearing in his efforts to make her happier in the fact that he was going to leave her new secret passageway alone for now. For some reason, she believed him.

"I would very much appreciate it if you kept this a secret between just us, after all I think that I might have some uses for it besides getting to and from places in the castle."

Casting her wand to and fro, it just looked like the passageway was a simple straight line, with no rooms off the passage, which although was not ideal, the passage way was still wide enough for her to move her arms in to cast spells.

"Yes I think that would be wise if we wish to keep it a secret." she smiled gently, before tucking her hair behind her ear and walking further inside "Oh my it's quite dark isnt it?"

Seeing that she seemed to like the fact that he was going to leave this place alone to her, Nick smiled happily. It was always nice to have a friend and friends trusted one another. The fact that she trusted him enough to believe him suggested that they might yet become friends,

"You got it Marylin, no one but us will know of this place." he grinned and placed a hand over his heart, "I will not reveal this secret unless given instruction to do so by Marylin Mason or I believe it will keep her from harm, so mote be it."

The oath finished, he grinned, secure in the knowledge that she would now have to trust his word completely. He closed the passageway behind them and immediately the only light was that of the two lumos spells. He nodded his head in agreement,

"Yeah it's almost pitch black in here..." he noted with a small smile, "Should we turn up our lights a little bit?"

Marylin raised an eyebrow slightly as soon as he began that strange oath type thing and she sighed internally, she thought that he was labouring the point a little bit now and she just wanted to be able to get on in this passageway and find a potential route out.

"Thank you, although that really wasn't needed Nicholas." she said with a small smirk, her posh and educated accent coming across with every word that she spoke, it was how she was raised after all.

When the door was closed, Marylin blinked for a moment in the complete darkness and stopped moving while her eyes got used to the low level of light around them, after all, she didn't want to fall over something unexpected.

"I believe that we should concentrate on looking at different parts of the passageway, maybe you look at the floor and I will look to the sides, to make sure we dont trip up or run into anything." she suggested, looking around with a small smile on her lips "I do love exploring."
