Second Lesson - First Years
Now The Doctor was one of the first to admit that he liked being Highmaster of Durmstrang. After all, it came with a lot of power and pretty much everything went your way. The only problem was that every problem in the school became his. Which was why he was new standing in a classroom ready to teach a class he really didn't want to teach.

Re: Second Lesson - First Years
Alys had made her way to the third floor with the throng of first years for her Charms but had fallen somewhat behind in the crowd. So when the witch rounded the corner, all of them had already entered, presumably into the classroom right ahead. The witch smoothed her skirt and shifted her book bag from one shoulder to another, striding to the room with quick steps. Hoover, when she reached the door, it was to see The Doctor there.
The witch wondered if she had entered the wrong class but then saw that all her fellow first years were indeed seated. Walking in, the witch choose an empty desk at the back, wondering why the Highmaster was here.

Ava was running a bit late, when she arrived a t the classroom she was glad Alys was sitting in the back and she could slide into a seat next to her. It looked like class hadn't started yet, so she felt relief.
The Highmaster was at the front. This could end up being an interesting class. Ava was curious to see how the Highmaster taught his classes, she hoped he was as fun as Sweeney.

Once again Tarragon was one of the last of his classmates to turn up. He hadn't had much luck with finding all his classrooms in the right place yet, but he supposed he would get there soon enough. Taking up his seat next to Alys and Ava's desk, Tarragon got all his books and other equipment out of his bag.
He smiled at Ava and Alys before turning his attention to the Highmaster.

Re: Second Lesson - First Years
Charms, were not The Doctor's strong suit. Well... they were but high level life-restoring charms were not really suitable for first years. He was just glad that they were here for the really simple stuff. Giving them an eye smile, something he was found of doing now, he waved at his class,
"Hey! I'm The Doctor!" He greeted them all before grinning, "Today's lesson is rather simple. We're going to use the enlargement charm. Can anyone give me the incantation? It's worth 10 house points..."

Re: Second Lesson - First Years
The witch looked at Ava and Tarragon beside her, clueless as to what the incantation would be. She only knew the levitation charm so far but maybe Ava had done the enlargement one before, or Tarragon who seemed to know a lot more about spells than she did. Silently, the blonde waited for one of her friends to answer.

Tarragon waited to see if Alys would brave the answer, but seeing as she looked sideways at him in hope he gathered that she didn't. Raising his hand in the air, he took in a deep breath.
"Sir, I think that is Engorgio.." He wasn't familiar with every spell, but he was pretty sure this one made things bigger, although slightly swollen.

The Doctor nodded and smiled happily,
"Right you are Mr Zeverai! Ten points to you!" he declared brightly, "Engorgio is the incantation for this charm. If you would like to place your charm's books in the middle of your desk, you may practice the charm on the textbook."
He jabbed his wand sharply at a book on his desk,
"Engorgio." he said simply. The book grew to twice it's original size and The Doctor smiled at his class, "Just a short jab at the book as you say the incantation. Give it a try!"

Re: Second Lesson - First Years
Alys watched with wide eyes as the book on The Doctor's desk grew in size. He made it look so effortless. A simple jab and the book did what he wanted it to. Getting excited, the witch closed her own book and placed it at the center of her desk.
Getting out her wand, she jabbed the book sharply like she had seen the Highmster do but before she could mutter the incantation, angry sparks hissed from her wand.
Blushing, the witch eased up on the wand movement and tied again. "Engorgia," she said, jabbing the book less sharply then before. Sadly, if the book grew larger, it was in no noticeable way.

Ava was glad Tarragon was able to answer the question, as she couldn't; book learning wasn't her strong suit and her Father hadn't taught her that charm.
Following the Doctors instructions, she looked at her textbook, holding her wand carefully. She said the spell, jabbing her wand. It did grow, there was one problem though, it kept growing. The book just kept getting bigger until Ava finally called out, "Help, I did it wrong, and I don't know how to stop it!"

Re: Second Lesson - First Years
Tarragon prodded his book with a simple utter of "Engorgio". His book grew to twice the size and he smiled. He was beaming so much he didn't see what was going on with Ava's book until it hit him, knocking him onto the floor.
He looked up bewildered.
"Ava?! What did you do?"

Re: Second Lesson - First Years
Alys, who had been staring at Ava's growing textbook with a mixture of amazement and shock let out a laugh when the book actually knocked Tarragon over. She wasn't laughing in spite, simply because it was actually very funny. She hoped her friends would see that too.
Trying once again to see if she could make her own book bugger, she jabbed her wand at it and muttered "Engorgio!". To her delight, the book did increase in size, even if by only a little. It may not have been twice its size but it was bigger than it was supposed to be.
