Potions Lesson One - Sixth Years Empty Potions Lesson One - Sixth Years

Post by Evangeline Webb Tue Oct 09, 2012 11:40 pm

Evangeline was getting more and more settled into her role of professor here at Hogwarts and she was even beginning to want to come to lessons, where as before she had merely gone out of boredom and to have a quiet place to clean souls away from the world, she often liked to do this while sitting down lately it meant that she improved her skills but that she also could do other things at the same time, where as if she was doing the rounds physically it would take her so much longer and she would be far more tired when she had finished.

With a small smile on her lips she sat in the middle of a ring of cauldrons and their eerie green light reflected on her pale skin, the book for the potion recipie open in front of her, Evangeline waited for the others to appear, her scythe set on the wall behind her, it was pleasant to be down here when she was alone, and she hoped that the arrival of students would not ruin this calm and almost serene atmosphere as the base potions splashed lightly against the side of the cauldrons.

On the board she wrote down the lesson topic for today;

'Sleeping Draught'

Potions Lesson One - Sixth Years Empty Re: Potions Lesson One - Sixth Years

Charlotte wandered into the classroom her mind was full of excitement for the wedding that she was going to in the Spring, she had only ever been to Richard and Briony's wedding before and she didn't know if this was going to be able to top their wedding, it had been amazing when she had gone after all.

With a small smile on her lips she sat down on the normal seat she took and placed her things out on the table, ready to begin the lesson, looking up at the board she saw the lesson topic and she smiled lightly again, this certainly would prove to be an interesting lesson today.

Smiling a little at the professor she leafed through her textbook.

Potions Lesson One - Sixth Years Empty Re: Potions Lesson One - Sixth Years

Evangeline saw that there was a student in her class, noted the time and she thought that it would be time to start the lesson, drawing herself out of her thoughts with only a faint glow of her eyes showing that she was now ready to teach the lesson. With that same neutral expression on her face she stood, and walked over to the board where she tapped the lesson topic.

"Today we are learning about a sleeping draught, there are many different types and strengths of draught but can you tell me one of the ingredients found in almost every version of the potion?" she asked the girl sitting in front of her, she seemed to be somewhat excited for the lesson to begin.

Potions Lesson One - Sixth Years Empty Re: Potions Lesson One - Sixth Years

Charlotte knew the answer to this question, it was really common sense if you thought about it, although those people who didn't really take an interest in aromatherapy perhaps wouldn't know, but it was a common fact that the plant lavender had properties to relax, calm and place you to sleep.

It also helped that she had begun to memorise popular potion ingredients for her exams at the end of this year, it was going to be one of the most important examinations yet, so she was getting study in early.

"The ingredient used in almost every potion is lavender because of it's calming and soothing properties, it is often used in muggle aromatherapy and oils in order to help babies and adults a like sleep." she answered hoping to score extra points for detail.
