Dark Arts Sixth Year Exam Empty Dark Arts Sixth Year Exam

Post by Darcie Vane Mon Dec 10, 2012 7:00 am

Darcie was a little anxious as she handed out the papers for this exam, she had thought of some of the questions herself, and she was glad that the students would at least get to see her face in the exam hall, if only so that they didnt feel so nervous. Hopefully they would find that if they had revised the paper would be a doddle to them, however, there was a niggling feeling that many of the students would not have revised enough for the detail of the paper.

As soon as all of the students had arrived she smiled softly and looked through the paper one last time befoure coughing to get the attention of the hall of students, them falling silent gradually as she did so.

"This paper represents 100% of your marks for this year, it is a series of 5 questions which you will have some muiltiple choice options, and some not, you may begin this paper, now."

Question One:

The use of necromancy in modern society is one that is frowned upon, the revival of the dead into a mimicry of the living is one that many witches and wizards condemn as one of the darkest forms of magic, one of the most unforgivable acts that a magical person can perform. Necromancy involves reviving the body of the dead, and giving it a magical base form of life, it cannot be a very detailed existence in most cases, but the power of the necromancer can elevate the consciousness of the individual, a modern day example includes Raven Drake, who can create new bodies for spirits.

Question Two:

1. The art of Ya Sang was developed in Thailand.
2. This art involves mastering the art of poisons in order to harm others
3. The poisons used in this art create stomach ailments, physical pain and intoxication.

Question Three:

1. If the vampire in question is non-day walking then exposing it to large quantities of sunlight will help to destroy the creature.
2. Massive trauma to the head, such as a gun shot or any attack that centers around the brain will also kill a vampire.
3. Just like the head, massive trauma to the heart will also kill a vampire.

Question Four:

What can the long lasting effects of using a nightmare spell be? Pick two answers.

A) Increased mental trauma
B) Risk of Suicide

Question Five:

Two uses of a pentagram include, being a protective symbol against lesser evil entities when worn as a pendant or as a tattoo on the skin. Not only this but it can be used as a channeling device to allow magic to flow more effectively when performing rituals of a pagan nature.

Question One:

One of the modern day examples of a witch whos primary magic involves Necromancy, is Raven Drake, she has famously recreated a body for a spirit and has placed the spirit in this body giving it a completely new existence. Necromancy in general is generally less advanced, the consciousness is limited to basic instructions and often the personality of the person/vessel is completely gone, after the 'life' is brought back into the body it can give the impression that the person is living, even though the essence of that person is gone.

Question Two:

1. The art of Ya Sang was developed in Thailand.
2. This art involves mastering the art of poisons in order to harm others
3. The poisons used in this art create stomach ailments, physical pain and intoxication.

Question Three:

1. Sun light
2. Damage to the brain
3. Damage to the heart

Question Four:

What can the long lasting effects of using a nightmare spell be? Pick two answers.

A) Increased mental trauma
B) Risk of Suicide

Question Five:

Two uses of a pentagram include, being a protective symbol against malicious omens or spirits. Not only this but it can be used as a channeling device to allow magic to flow when performing rituals.

Dark Arts Sixth Year Exam Empty Re: Dark Arts Sixth Year Exam

Answer 1:

Necromancy was initially considered to be one of the renowned principles of the Dark Arts, concerned with communication with the deceased, or reviving them. However, in the present day, Necromancy is an almost extinct art, very few people strong enough to effectively 'wake up the dead'. The word 'necromancy' was derived from the Late Latin word necromantia, and was classified in Renaissance magic as the first among the seven forbidden arts. Necromancy was prevalent in history, with records of its practice in Babylon, Egypt, Greece etc. and the oldest literary account of necromancy can be found in the 'Odyssey' performed by Odysseus under the instruction of Circe.

Answer 2:

i) Ya Sang is a form of black or dark magic developed in the northeast of Thailand, Isan.
ii) It involves ancient knowledge of plant and animal poisons
iii) Its intent is generally to cause harm to the victim, who shows symptoms like pain, trance-like behavior, stomach disorders etc. It results in death.

Answer 3:

i) Sunlight has varying damage on sensitive vampire skin, ranging from slight burns to full out charring of flesh
ii) Silver is not fatal to a vampire as is popularized by myth, but a silver bullet through the head or heart will definitely kill a vampire in opposition to any normal bullet because of its inert nature
iii) Concentrated heat is fatal for a vampire. Burning it, then scattering the ashes is an effective method of killing a vampire and ‘keeping it dead’
Answer 4:
A) Increased mental trauma
B) Risk of suicide

Answer 5:
1) The five points of a Pentagram represent the five elements (Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Spirit). When used in ritual, Pentagrams are drawn at the beginning to set a witches protection, positive power and is used to control the elements.
2) An inverted Pentagram is used for Dark rituals.
