Lesson One - Sixth Years
Richard sighed a little bit as he sank back down into his chair. It had been the entire summer since he had last sat down in this chair and it felt like years since he had just sat down. What with all of his frantic work to try and develop a cure for the disease, he had never had time to relax. No that wasn't true. He didn't allow himself the time to relax. Every death that occured while he 'relaxed' would have been on his conscience, he knew, even if it wasn't he fault.
He rested in his chair for now, content in the knowledge that the cure was getting closer and closer. Now he could ease off a little bit and teach as there was little he could do to help make the cure now. It was all beyond him now. But teaching the next generation? Ah that was never beyond him.
And he had to congratulate his class today too. They had all gotten the grades to continue studying transfiguration overall and that was something to be proud of.

Re: Lesson One - Sixth Years
Lucas entered the Transfiguration classroom and greeted Professor Romain a good morning as he sat down on a seat. He had done okay during the Exam, having gotten an 'E,' but he wanted to do better. Since he was in the sixth year now, he assumed the lessons would be harder, so he had read his Transfiguration book, which was very unlike him, but very important.
Lucas settled down and waited for the class to begin.

Re: Lesson One - Sixth Years
Richard was a little bit discouraged that only one student was taking his class at Sixth Year level but thankfully that one student was Lucas. Lucas was good at Transfiguration but he had the potential to be even better. Nodding to himself, he moved up to the board,
"Morning there Lucas." he greeted the boy as he wrote down the topic on the board, "Today I'm going to teach you some battle transfiguration. Namely how to turn something small, like a quill, into a weapon. A spear would be the easiest thing here."
He wrote down some more instructions, including the wand movements (clockwise turn, left flick, forward jab, down flick) on the board. To demonstrate he picked up a quill and held it in one hand. Using the wand movements he wordlessly transfigured it into a large wooden spear. Testing it's weight, he threw it across the classroom where it embedded itself in the wall,
"You see?" he told Lucas, "Now this is completely non-verbal because you should be able to do that for transfiguration now. Transfiguration is not about the words; it's about the intent."
