Lesson Three Empty Lesson Three

Post by Leilah Meranovoskov Thu Jan 12, 2012 5:15 am

Leilah walked into the classroom and sat at her desk. She was rather displeased with the amount of homework she had recieved. She asked for them all to give it to her, one of them handed it in. She wrote on the blackboard the name Gellert Grindelwald. She charmed books to go to the tables along with parchment quills. She had put anti-cheating spells on the quills. She was a kid once and knew all the tricks. She hoped to meet the new Deputy Highmaster as well. By the looks of it, he spent all of his time in his office. She made a mental note to ask him to meet her sometime. She smiled at the students as they walked in...

When they had sat down, she stood up and started the lesson. "Guten Morgen class. I hope the model basilisks I gave you are well." She smiled secretly to herself. What the students didn't know was that they had a test soon that involved the model basilisks she had given them. "Now, as you can probably see, today the lesson is on Gellert Grindelwald. He would have sat in the same room as you. Right here." She remembered meeting him once in her first year. "He trained hard. He worked for what he got and he got it. But, little known fact, he didn't just want to kill and maim. He wanted something powerful. The Deathly Hallows." She changed the writing on the blackboard to The Deathly Hallows. She thne got her wand and made the sign of the Hallows with it, leaving strips of blue light. "The line down the middle is the Elder Wand, the circle, the Ressurection Stone and the triangle is the Cloak of Invisibility. The most famous owner of the last item is Mr Harry Potter." She spat the name out. She hated him. "Now, what you will do first is write what you would do with each of the Hallows. There is a book on your desk about them. When you are finished, hand it in to me. Then we will start doing genuine spells." She was exited about this part of the lesson....

Lesson Three Empty Re: Lesson Three

Post by Guest Thu Jan 12, 2012 8:27 am

Alys could sense Lehrer M’s bad mood today and she didn’t like it at all. Her head of house was a reasonable person and for her to be mad, something must be wrong. The girl decided to try extra hard on her homework. Opening the book Lehrer M had passed out; she started reading up on the Hallows and wasn’t surprised to learn how the English had stolen those from Germany as well. The elder wand belonged to the great Gellert Grindelwald until some British guy called Dumbledore had stolen it from him. And everyone knew Harry Potter was just a follower of the same man.

Once having read up on the three highly magical items, the witch started wondering what she would do with them. A wand that could never be defeated, a stone that could bring dead people to life and a cloak that can hide you from even death.

Even as a child, Alys had found it hard to believe in fairytales. They always presented an impossible scenario which ended up somehow tricking the characters because they wanted power or love or whatever. Muggle fairytales were even worse as they always showed girls to be useless and only boys able to save the day. Fortunately for her, as soon as her parents had discovered this, instead of the nightly story telling, they had started the nightly story analyzing in which her Mama would present her with a seemingly amazing scenario and ask her to find loopholes in it. So while other children grew up listening to fairy tales, Alys Diederich grew up seeing their duplicity.

And the Hallows, when all was said and done, were just another fairytale weren’t they? Bowing her head over her parchment, the witch began to write.

The three Hallows mentioned are tools designed to make the owner of them the most powerful man to ever exist. Yet, is that much power really necessary in one hand? Furthermore, each of the Hallows has been shown to be the owner’s undoing. The undefeatable wand has been defeated time and time again in combat, the resurrection stone has driven people mad and never really brought anyone to life and the invisibility cloak is simply a cloak. It may work better than most cloaks and its charm might not wear off but if I shoot a killing curse at you under the cloak, the fabric won’t be enough to stop the curse.

So if I had the three items, I would get rid of all of them because they cause conflicts, fights, wars and so on. I have no need for a powerful wand, I have my own and I like it very much. I also don’t think I will need the stone as no one I know well has died. And even if they have, I’m sure they’re okay wherever they are. As for the cloak, it may fetch a good amount of gold on in the market but again, that will cause more problems. So if it were up to me, I would destroy all the Hallows so there will no longer be fights over them.

Tarragon smiled at the task, he thought it was rather good personally. He quickly read through the chapter and picked up his quill.

What would I do with the Elder wand?
If I owned the Elder Wand, even though it is destroyed, I'd hex Lukas to high heaven for being such a git to everyone and hopefully this would teach him a lesson and a little respect all at the same time.

What would I do with the Resurrection Stone?
Probably nothing, to be honest. Yes I could bring people back from the dead, family. But I don't want or need them. I like my sanity as well.

What would I do with the Cloak of Invisibility?
I think that question would be relatively easy to answer, I'd cause a little mischief, and head out into the village just outside Durmstrang, get myself some goodies, and possibly enough to sell on to make more money!

Tarragon looked at his work with a pleased smile. That would be what he would do with the items, nothing more, nothing less.

Leilah was pleased with most of the work so far. Yes, there was the odd not-so-good one. She remembered her school days when the only person who did worse than the First Years was Orgaloff. He was an idiot. She knew where he had ended up. Not a nice psition, a communal grave. She was pleased with the work that was going on. At least it wasn't like Orgaloff's. She waited for the last student to finish their sentence then whipped her wand out of her robes and pointed it at a dummy that was made to look like Harry Potter. God, she hated that... thing. "Reducto!" The dummy blew up into a pile of dust. She smiled at the class. This was her way of being mean. "Now class, that is a simple curse that will blast your enemies into dust. Now, as you probably found out, the incantation is Reducto" she was worried that the class would go mad with the curse now "your task today is to first transfigure the dummy provided to look like someone you don't like. Preferably not me. Then, you will destroy the dummy and then notice how quickly it dissolves. The quickest person will recieve a rather nice prize. Second place, smaller. Then, you just get a few extra House Points." Leilah felt very Russian today. She needed to go to the village and get a drink. "Now, if you fail to follow these simple instructions, you will be seeing me in your own time for a while. If you attack a fellow student. Be warned, I believe that you have evenings free. I don't care if you say the crup ate your detention slip, you will come. If you have any clubs, Idon't care. Oh, and by the way, I will supplying you with a test later in the year. If you fail to complete that, well, let's just say that you won't have much of a holiday." She added a smile on the end of that sentence. "Begin."

Lukas read the book thoroughly, some parts twice, making sure he didn't miss out any critical information. He gathered his thoughts and wrote done his somewhat evil intentions with his beautiful handwriting. The Deathly Hallows, not a fairytale anymore.

I would have done the same thing as Mr. Potter did to the elder wand. If somebody else had the elder wand they would be more powerful than me. If I owned the wand then I would be pretty much every ambitious man and woman's mark. So if I destroy the wand I would have eliminated the possibility of having an individual who had a special wand which made him more powerful. Secondly, it would also completely stop the killing madness the wand had created. Obviously it was designed to kill as it was made by death himself. Hence, I would say good thinking Mr. Potter.

I am not sure if it is possible or not but if it can happen then i would love to raise an army of the dead using the resurrection stone.

The invisibility cloak, now this is a tricky one as it would only hide me. People would still be able to hear me breathe, they would be able to hear my footsteps. So I would probably use it when I am around the muggles. Also if possible I would like to tailor it to my fittings and wear it in war. It wouldn't matter if they hear my footsteps or see the light of my spells as aiming at something you can't see in war is as good as a war won.

He put the quill on the side and rolled his parchment up. Waiting for the teacher to begin teaching some dart arts.

What a demonstration! Go Lehrer!, Lukas thought. Transfiguration wasn't his best suit but he wasn't a completely bad either. He did not hate or 'not like' anybody so he just decided to make a dummy wooden boy with a top hat. "Reeeducto!", he said with excitement but nothing happened. Realizing how silly he must have sounded he blushed a bit. He gave it another try with his emotions in control and watched as the top hat boy was reduced to nothing.

Fun. This is fun, he thought and smiled.

Alys was understanding the lesson perfectly well until Lehrer M came to the part about transfiguring the wooden figure. The only spell Alys had actually learned in transfiguration was the one she had learned with the doctor and that really wasn't very helpful in actual matter manipulation. Lehrer M wouldn't set them an impossible task, the girl reasoned. The wood must be made of malleable material.

Closing her eyes, the witch thought o the one person she disliked above everyone else. Surprisingly, no one came to mind. She was expecting it to be Lukas but surprisingly, she didn't even hate him enough to want to blast him into dust like the teacher had done with the figure of Harry Potter. But then who? The blonde closed her eyes, imagining what would make her angry, afraid, provoke her enough to blast it with all her strengths.

And whens she opened her eyes, the wooden figure in front of her had changed. It stooped now, its tiny hands straight and making it look like it had four legs instead. Even the facial features had changed enough to reflect something of a snout. The resemblance was obscure by all means but the shape was definitely animal, a four legged, hairy beast with wooden chips protruding like fangs from its jaw.

Pointing her wand at it, she witch muttered the curse.

It didn't explode into dust like the one Lehrer M had cursed, but the sound crack that split the wooden wolf in two was immensely satisfying and for the first time since eh encounter in the dark forest, the witch smiled at the sight of the animal.

And then, without knowing why, she turned her face to Lukas and gave him a cheeky wink.

Tarragon looked as Alys' figure as it changed from human to wolf and frowned before concentrating on his own. It transfigured into an elder woman, with blonde-grey hair, a wicked smile over her face as she strutted around his desk. He definately wasn't surprised to see her. He closed his eyes and exhaled deeply. Opening his eyes, he pointed his wand at the figure and calmly spoke.

"Reducto."

The figure turned to dust, quickly. He didn't look back at anything as he left the classroom in a flurry of emotions. He knew that he'd be in trouble, but he couldn't stay in the room any longer.

Leilah was pleased with the Reducto-ing going on. It was simple yet effective. You never know when you need to blow stuff up. She remembered the not-so small battle when her fiancee got blown up from the same curse that she was teaching. She felt tears sting her eyes. She stopped immediately and replayed the moment in her head. Painful to think of, disastrous to have lived through. She put on a brave face just in time to see Tarragon leave the room. She knew that something was troubling him. Well done Sherlock, she thought. It was obvious. She didn't mind, just as long as he didn't do anything overly stupid. She knew kids. She used to be one. She watched as Tarragon left. She then turned to the rest of the class. "Right, for homework, I would like you to tell me about three curses and tell me any famous uses. I expect no less than three. Class dismissed." She stared into space as the class left...
