Waiting for Professor Slytherin

Tessa found her way thanks to Leshia. She had no idea what Professor Slytherin wanted to talk to her about. This worried her because it could be for good or bad. But she knew that she shouldn't be worried.

[Sofia Slytherin]

Sofia heard small footsteps outside of her office and she went to the door and discovered a young lady standing there. She had not met this girl before so she assumed that this must be Ms. Grey.

"Ms. Grey I presume , please won't you come in. Here let me offer you help to the chair. My office has lots of things in it and everything always seems to be in the way." Sofia linked Tessa's hand in her elbow and lead her over to the chair.

"Don't worry child, you are not in trouble. Would you like some tea and biscuits, or something else to drink perhaps?"

She smiled a little bit. " I am Tessa Grey. She was a little bit more sure of herself. Once she head that she wasn't in trouble she started to rest a little bit easier. She was led over to a chair, she guessed that Professor Slytherin already knew that she was blind and she wouldn't have to explain it. " Just tea will be fine."

[Sofia Slytherin]

Sofia poured the child a cup of tea and then set the cup right in front of her.

"Your cup is directly in front of your right hand." Sofia smiled at the girl. Sofia remembered growing up with a little girl named Julie who was also blind.

"The reason I asked you up here is I wanted to offer you a couple of things that I have created over the years." Sofia took a sip of her own tea that she had poured.

"I noticed that you have signed up for Divination, but not Astronomy. I was wondering why you didn't sign up for Astronomy?"

"Now don't get me wrong I understand that you are blind and you think you cannot see the stars, but there are other ways to view them."

Sofia set her cup of tea down then folded her hands in her lap.

"Would you take astronomy if I could offer you a way to view the stars?"

Tessa then grabbed the cup and started to sip on it.

She then started to think about it. " I guess I would take astronomy if there was a way to see the starts." She then remember Leshia asking her if she would take the class. She was excited cause she always wonder what the stars looked like.

[Sofia Slytherin]

Sofia smiled, she was glad that she could possible bring some joy to this young girl.

"Let me give you a little background information. When I was a young girl I grew up around a girl named Julie. She was a witch just like me, but her parents could not see how she could ever go to school if she could not see, so her parents never allowed her to go to school."

Sofia stopped for a moment trying to hold in the tears that were trying to fall. She had never told anyone this story.

"Sorry" she said as she wiped a tear. "I have never told anyone this story before."

"So basically I was teaching everything I was learning in school, but thee were many things she couldn't do so I swore when I was old enough I would create things that would help her make it in this world."

Sofia had stood up and walked over to her filing cabinet where she had some of her papers.

"Now I am willing to help you, like I helped her if you are willing to let me. I know you want to learn on your own and that you do not want people to pity you, but sometimes a person needs help."

Tessa smiled. " My parents believe that me being blind show never hold me back. That is why the decided to send me to school just like a normal person.

She sighed. " It not that I don't like someone to help me, it just I don't want to depend on one person for too long. But I am willing to try, it will be something new and different."

[Sofia Slytherin]

Sofia sat back down and began to explain to Tessa about a spell that she invented.

"You see during my studies I figured out a spell that would make your mind see the stars." Sofia took a moment to watch Tessa's face.

"Vidi Visum, roughly translated see stars. I also have a book that goes with it. You find the constellation you want in the book then say the spell and it apprears in your mind, just as if your looking at it outside under them."

Tessa had a shock look on her face. And she was excited. " Really?" She couldn't wait to actually sign up for the class. She had always been curious what the stars looked like.

[Sofia Slytherin]

Sofia smiled a little watching the girl get all excited over a simple spell.

"Of course dear, I would not get your hopes up like that. Here let me get you that book so you can study it."

Sofia gets up and heads over to her desk in the corner and grabs the book, and also the deck of cards for her. The walking back to where Tessa was at.

"Here is the book, every single constellation is in here. On the bottom corners are page numbers, and it also tells you what constellations are on the page. So when I say a page number it will be the same as the other students text book."

Sofia sat back down in her chair and took a sip of her tea. "Also I see you have signed up for Divination. Here is a deck of Tarot Cards that are specially made with braille so you can read them, and also this is the book that explains each card. The books is also page numbered the same as the other text books."

Sofia could not express how happy she was to help this child out, it was like she was helping Julie all over again, she was sure Julie was looking down on her from heaven. She had vowed a long time ago not another person would suffer like Julie did from her disability.

"Now Ms. Grey I have lots of different spells that allow for many different things for a person in you situation. All you have to do is ask when you want help and I will be glad to help you." Sofia smiled

"In the end I couldn't help Julie, but I vowed that wouldn't happen again."

Tessa was so excited that words couldn't express how she was feeling. But she took both the books and tarrot cards. " I promise I will study them both." She knew that if she needed any help she could always ask Leshia.

She smiled a little bit. " I will be sure to come if I have any problems." Tessa couldn't get over both of the books, she had never expected to be helped like this. She thought she was going to have to learn like everybody else.

[Sofia Slytherin]

"You are so welcome my child, I was just glad I could help." Sofia just smiled.

"Actually the person you need to thank is your friend Leshia. Apparently she sent an owl to the headmistress begging her to help in anyway that she can. I just happen to be able to help." Sofia stood up and walked around the desk.

"Well I suppose I should let you get back to your friends, just remember I am always here to help when you want it." Sofia walked over and offered to walk Tessa to the door.

"If you would like I will help you back to the door." Sofia offered her arm again once Tessa stood. Making it back to the door.

"One more spell to help you if you want. 'Plumbum Via'. Say this phrase along with where you want to go and it will help you get there avoiding any dangers."

Tessa smiled, she couldn't wait to be around Leshia again. Because she wanted to thank her. She had no idea that Leshia owled the headmistress and told her that she was blind.

She then grabbed Professor Slytherin arm, as she was helping her to the door. " I will have to remember that phrase. Leshia said soon I should be able to run around."

[Sofia Slytherin]

"She was always a bright one that girl, just as long as she doesn't allow her sister to pull her into her web." Sofia was not sure where that came from but sometimes when Sofia says things they are just meant to be said.

"Well dear I will see you around, especially in class. Bye dear." Sofia opened the door and allowed Tessa to leave, she knew now the Tessa would make it back to her dorm with no problems.

Tessa blinked. " You mean Tabi? I meet her on the train, she seems nice."

She was smiling. " I will see you in class Professor." Tessa then did her best and walked to the Gryffindor dorms.
