Reading (open) Empty Reading (open)

Terry had decided he wanted to get out of his dorm room and sit in the common room for awhile maybe he would meet someone that way. It never seemed like anyone wanted to hang out in the common room, maybe it was too boring.

He had been spending a lot of time lately thinking about Keaira, she was the most beautiful creature he had ever seen and he wanted to spend a lot more time with her, maybe he would send her a owl.

Walking over to the bookshelf that was in the room he went in search of a good book to read, after finding one he sat down and began to read waiting to see if anyone would come in to talk to him.

Erik walked into the common room trying to find any distraction from his homework. He had never enjoyed schoolwork and had always waited until the last minute, thus resulting in lower grades then what he was actually capable of.

Flopping onto the couch in front of the fire, Erik looked over at his housemate. "How you doing there, Terry?" The two boys had met during their study session earlier but really hadn't had the chance to get to know each other yet.

Terry was engrossed in his book when he heard someone come into the room. Terry looked up and noticed it was Erik that came in.

"Well not doing much, I am just sick of studying. I know that" Terry said

"I will say it is much quieter in here without all those girls chatting away." Terry closed his book and turn to Erik.

"So how are things with you?"

Erik could empathize with Teddy's feeling about studying. He already felt overloaded, overwhelmed, and overworked from the assignments that were due soon.

"I've never been one to enjoy schoolwork. I'd much rather be out playing quidditch or well anything else but working on an essay."

Erik smiled at the comment about the girls. "Yeah the girls are cool but it's definitely quieter without them. So any reason why the institute isn't holding quidditch teams? I was really looking forward to the chance to play."

Terry had to agree with Erik about the school work and writing.

"I have to agree, I hate schoolwork, and writing too many essays, but I need to get good grade."

Terry had yet to learn about quidditch, his friend Tarragon from last year moved to a different school so he never got to learn.

"I am not really sure you will have to ask the flying instructor. I just have started to learn to fly."

Erik leaned back into the couch with a happy sigh. "Flying is the best feeling in the world!" he exclaimed. "I'm guessing you haven't played quidditch then. Ever been to a match? My father and I have gone loads of times. We both big followers of the Heidelberg Harriers."

Erik reached into his bag and pulled out a thin book that showed the players and stats of his favorite quidditch team. Opening the book, he pointed to the photo of the team captain. "Luka Stein is the best chaser is the European Quidditch League. I saw him play this summer and he never missed a shot."

"I got to fly for the first time last year, and my friend last year was trying to teach me somethings about quidditch." Terry was wondering if Erik could pick up where Taragon left off.

"Up until last year I thought I was a muggle, only to discover that I am a pureblood. So everything in the magical world is still new to me."

Terry thought about how much his life had changed since finding out he was a wizard.

"Maybe you can teach me some things?"

After classes Annika went straight to the Geschick dorms. "I just know that Emmy is mad. I should have left more food for her when I left this morning. Maybe it would have been better if I'd have left her home and let the girls finish her training. Well, I just hope she didn't do any damage to the room." As she entered she heard voices and saw too of the boys talking on the sofa. Not wanting to be anywhere near 'lousy boys' she quickly and quietly rushed through the room and up to the girls dorms.

Quietly opening the door she was relived to see that Emmy, her pseudo-dragon was asleep on her perch and all looked like it was when she had left this morning.

"Hi, sweetie, I'm finally done with school. Want to play a game with me? I missed you today. I hope you don't hate me for leaving you alone. I just can't have you on my shoulder in class. The teachers frown on pets there." Rubbing behind Emmy's neck seemed to calm her down and the kisses she received in return made her feel more at home.

Grabbing an old ferret skin she teased Emmy getting her interested in a short game of fetch before she ventured down into the common room to do her homework. How she missed the little girls, especially the baby and her prattle while she played.

Another long day of classes and still no real home work. At least not what she considered a lot. It was lunch time but Annika wasn't hungry, just a bit distracted, so she skipped the great hall and headed to her dorm. Annika went quickly through the common room avoiding any one and anything there and went straight to the dorms. Her pseudo-dragon was waiting to climb on hershoulder for her share of attention now. "Oh, sweetie, I love you but I really want to get this post off to papa and mama before my next class. Do you think they miss me or have they just found things better without me?"
She sat on her bed and got her things out to try to write again. She'd have to hurry though, not a lot of time left.

That night before retiring, Annika tried to spend some time in the common room. She wanted so much to try to find a friend, someone who she could talk to occasionally and maybe get enough courage up to go into town. Living in a very small village had one big advantage over the school. There she had known everyone, muggle included and had lots of friends. Here she felt so out of place and lonely. Her free time was too quiet without the girls to annoy her and chores to do. She wondered if the baby had come yet and if mom was doing okay. She was really hoping for a brother, but doubted that would happen. Even Papa had resigned himself to a life as a solitary man. She had sent out her owl and could look for an answer in a couple of days. Hoping they would go faster she put her books on the table and started her essay for Astronomy. study
