Lesson Two - First Years Empty Lesson Two - First Years

Post by Richard Romain Tue Feb 28, 2012 3:37 am

Richard was idly drumming his fingers against the wood of his desk but that happened to be the only indication that he was actually alive. He had gotten so bored in waiting for his class that he'd rested his head on the table so that he was staring at the woodwork. Then he'd brought his breathing under tight enough control that it appeared that he wasn't breathing at all.

Hence, the only sign of life was him drumming his fingers on the desk.

Tessa walked into the classroom, cause Yamina led her. She then sat down at a desk and waited for class to start.

Lesson Two - First Years Empty Re: Lesson Two - First Years

Luke walked into the classroom and immediately took a seat. He had previously been in the library looking up more and more things for him to read about the Muggle world. He found it the most interesting subject, well...alongside Herbology.

He lifted his gaze towards his Professor, and honestly he looked either dead tired, or dead. He didn't say any anything towards the Professor, preferring silence overall, so he simply opened his book and then his notebook and waited for class to begin.

Xander quickly strode in and took the seat next to Luke. He had been hard to track down since the weekend had ended. He meant to ask him about it. Later.

Taking out his book he noticed the teacher. Just another that seemed to have had a bad weekend.

Lesson Two - First Years Empty Re: Lesson Two - First Years

Kasey made his way to the room, looking around, his expression rather bored. Seeing two slytherins sat together and two gryffindors sat together, he assumed the classes were split, just like his mother had told him. He walked towards the front of the room, taking his seat separate from the others.

He hooked his bag over the back of the chair and pulled out a novel, quickly flipping to his page, leaning back, and beginning to read, occasionally peering over the top to watch the professor.

Lesson Two - First Years Empty Re: Lesson Two - First Years

Jaycie flitted quietly into her Transfiguration class, sitting down gently at the closest desk. She was bored and wanted something to do, so she stared around the room, feeling a bit more exaggerated than normal. Jay noticed that Xander and Luke had become like the dastardly duo; always stuck to each other's side. She smiled, wishing she had a friend like that.

Lesson Two - First Years Empty Re: Lesson Two - First Years

Richard woke up properly with a small start and he looked around as he rubbed the sleep from his eyes. He smiled at his students slightly,

"Hey guys..." he yawned a little, "Didn't see you come in."

He yawned again before shaking his head to clear it, standing up as he did so. Taking out his wand, he flicked it downwards once,

"Corpus." he delcared clearly. A small line of wood appeared in the air where he'd flicked his wand, "Simple conjuration. Say the incantation, 'Corpus', and flick or slash your wand to direct where you want the wood to be conjured."

Anne Made a swishing movement with her wand and muttered, "Corpus"
As she suspected it worked, it was very simple.

Lesson Two - First Years Empty Re: Lesson Two - First Years

Post by Kasey Flynn Thu Mar 01, 2012 2:47 pm

Looking up as the professor woke up, Kasey closed and put away his book, ready to be able to do the lesson already. He'd been waiting all day for this class, and was excited.

He watched at the professor took out his wand, doing the spell they were going to learn and practice. Kasey repeated the incantation to himself, clear and concise, as he took out his wand and making a motion, imagining how he wanted the wood to form.

He then said the incantation as he flicked his wand, only a small bit of wood being formed, bit a good try for a first time. A thought then came to him and he looked to the professor. "Excuse me, but professor, I was wondering...how is this wood being formed? After all, you can' create something out of nothing, right?"

Richard looked over at Kasey for a few seconds, not showing any emotion, before cracking a grin,

"You got it kid." he announced with a smirk, "Equivalent exchange."

He stood up, now getting into a bit of a lecture mode since Kasey had pushed a topic that he himself was incredibly interested in and, in some circles, considered a genius,

"To obtain anything, something of equal value must be lost." he picked up his piece of wood, "To create this wood with such a simple spell what you are doing is using your magic to create the mass. This spell, like all spells, drains your magical core slightly to make the mass. Other spells, more complicated spells, can make solid objects like this wood out of the air instead of out of pure magic but you'll get onto that in fifth year."

Xander was surprised that someone had actually stop to ask about where the magic came from. Hmm.

Sitting up straight he concentrated and flicked his wand at his desk top, saying, "Corpus." A thin piece of rosewood appeared on his desk. Clean cut and unpolished, it was a nice clear piece.

He started wondering what ways this could be useful, in everyday life and possibly in battle.

He knew this! Luke smiled slightly happy that it hadn't been something too complicated. He had seen his mother do little things like this in their garden to add some decorations to the garden. Taking out his wand, he tried the first time to do it.

"Corpus"

As easy as blinking, the thin piece of wood appeared. He smiled satisfied and looked up at the Professor curiously.

Lesson Two - First Years Empty Re: Lesson Two - First Years

Post by Kasey Flynn Fri Mar 02, 2012 5:07 pm

As professor Romain looked over with a stready gaze, Kasey looked back, smiling once he smiled. He watched at the professor took on a completely different air about him, which he thought was interesting. Though, he wouldn't be teaching it if he didn't take any interest.

He listened with open ears and bright eyes, finding the basic idea of Transfiguration that he had a grasp of to be very interesting. It was one subject his mother never got into much with him, her not finding it very interesting. And his lack of knowledge about it spurred his interest.

"And the exchange with the magical core...that's how it works with all spells, right? Not just transfiguration?"
