Herbology, Lesson Two: Second Years
Today was an important day. She was excited about being able to teach her students once more. While her first years were dealing with Wolfsbane, students today were going to deal with spells! She had noticed that there had been a lot of spiky bushes around her greenhouse and it had made her plants sad that they could not interact with students.
Around two dozen had grown and while she could have done this herself, she decided that she could take advantage and teach them something new. Her wand was out and she sat at the corner of her desk rather than her chair and waited for her students to arrive.

Haley walked into the greenhouse. She hadn't been there for the first lesson, but she hoped she would be allowed to parttake this time.
"Good day professor Del Sol," she said with a smile, looking at the professor.
She then placed herself next to one of the long tables. "I realize I wasn't here last lesson, and I'm so sorry for not reaching it in time. But can I still continue with Herbology?" she asked softly.

Victoria was excited for the next lesson. While she hadn't enjoyed the mandrakes themselves, she loved having class surrounded by plant life. She felt more alive around nature and it was something she needed more of.
When she walked into class, Haley was talking with the teacher about joining the class. She hoped she would be able to stay. It seemed like Haley needed a little sunshine in her life now to, and the teacher always seemed to give off that sunshine.
Victoria took a seat behind Haley and got her book out.

Lily smiled at the girl and nodded.
"Of course dear, no one is ever denied to partake in my class" she said smiling. "I feel as if everyone should have the opportunity to experience the joy of plants!"
She found herself smiling all the more whenever she was around students who wanted to learn and she found no reason to ever limit someone's yearning to learn as well.
"But please, everyone, you may call me Professor Lily, I don't mind...just don't tell anyone" she winked teasingly. "Once more students enter, I can start the class and you can get your wands ready"

Haley felt herself smile to the professor.
"I shall keep that in mind, professor Lily," she said joyously.
She then sat down and waited for the rest of the class, giving a smile to Victoria as well.

Walking into class, she noticed that she wasn't the first. Still no matter, she sat herself beside Victoria and smiled.
"Happy to be back?" she teased.
She noticed that the Professor was talking to Haley and she smiled, Professor Lily was so much cheerier than the rest of the Professors, it was like night and day.

Walking into the greenhouse, Parker let out a pleased sigh and looked around noticing plenty of the class had already filled up. He pulled his bag off his shoulder and went to take a seat near Haley and the others, feeling a bit more sociable then last week.
He set his bag down on the table, smiling at Haley, then turning and giving a small wave to Tess and Victoria.

"Hey Parker," Haley said with a smile, "You ready for an awesome Herbology lesson?"
Haley grinned and hinted over at professor Lily. "We're using our wands today, it seems. I wonder what we will be doing," she said curiously.

At Haley's greeting he turned back to her, giving another smile, "As long as it's nothing like those mandrakes, I think so." He hadn't even unrooted his last class, he was to put off by them.
He looked over at the professor. "Oh, are we?" He opened his bag and dug around for his wand, pulling it out. "I'm pretty curious too.."

Victoria smiled as the others filed in. She waved back at Parker, surprised that he had been so open. She didn't remember a lot about him from last year, but thought he had been almost painfully shy. She was glad to see him coming out of his shell.
Turning to Tess she said, "Yeah. For this class anyway."

Lily smiled seeing that students had finally arrived. She was so excited to start the lesson. Getting up she looked at her class and clapped her hands.
"Hello students, today we will be dealing with spiky bushes!" she said giggling. "Please leave your books and follow me outside towards the gardens"
Taking out her wand she waited for the students to line up and then began to walk out.
"Can anyone tell me a stunning spell?" she asked.

Tess couldn't help but smile seeing that they weren't going to be buried in the books and in the greenhouse. Getting up, she looked back at Victoria with a surprised look at the method of teaching.
Hearing her question, she raised her hand.
"Stupify is a stunning spell" she said.
She was curious as to how the stunning spell was relevant.

Lily smiled and nodded.
"Good good Miss McCartney! Five points" she said giggling.
Walking out, she lifted her hand and the sun began to shine even brighter. She was glad she could manipulate the sun to not only warm up the night day, but to help her plants grow.
"Now you must know that we are dealing with Spiky Bushes. Spiky bushes are very dangerous and you need to be careful, it hurts to get stabbed by the thorns"

Re: Herbology, Lesson Two: Second Years
Parker pocketed his wand, standing up with a smile. As everyone started to make their way out, the professor asked them for a stunning spell. As Tess answered he wondered what they'd be stunning. Surely not the spiky bushes, right?
As they walked out, Parker cupped his hand over his eyes, it seeming brighter out then it did when they had gone into the greenhouse. He looked around, setting it to himself to try not to be clumsy and get hurt again. he didn't want another trip to the hospital wing.

Haley walked after the others and lined up. The sun was brighter. Either, the sun had been behind some clouds, or Haley wasn't the only one who could manipulate the weather.
She looked at the professor when she asked a question, and was about to reply, but Tess beat her to it. Haley smiled to Tess and then she waited for the lesson to truly begin.

Re: Herbology, Lesson Two: Second Years
As she reached the Spiky Bushes, she handed out Muggle goggles.
"I know with Mandrakes we used earmuffs, but with Spiky bushes we will be using goggles. They will protect you from their spikes that usually are aimed at your eyes" she said.
It was no joking manner and she made it clear also.
"Okay....now I am going to show you how it's done" she teased.
Waving her wand in a circular motion, she simply called out "Stupify!"
The bush immediately wilted and stopped throwing the spikes towards them.
"Now you try!"

Re: Herbology, Lesson Two: Second Years
Excited to try something new, as always, Victoria grabbed her goggles and put them on.
She stepped up closer to the bushes, trying to keep a safe-ish distance though. Pointing her wand at the closest bush, she firmly said "Stupify."
Once the spell shot from her wand she would see the bush wither a bit. It seemed to rethink the importance of throwing spikes.
Victoria grinned, rather liking that spell.

Tess smiled at the fact that she got a few points and as she heard the explanation as to why they were going to be using the spell. She picked up the goggles and stood a few feet away from the plant. She copied the professor's movements and murmured a clear:
"Stupify!"
The bush immediately wilted and she smiled satisfied at the good work she'd done.

Re: Herbology, Lesson Two: Second Years
Parker put on the goggles nervously, he and spiky bushes, magical or otherwise, never got along.
He watched the others go nervously, his wand held tightly in his hand, waiting for his turn. As of yet, no one was hurt. He gulped as it was his turn, he really didn't want to mess this up.
At around the distance the others were at, he quickly shot off the spell, being in his nervous state, and it hit and wilted the bush right next to the one he was aiming at. Well, he still did it, he figured.
He smiled, taking a breath, stepping back away for anyone else to go.

Re: Herbology, Lesson Two: Second Years
Lily clapped her hands happily.
"Good job students! Five points each!"
Hearing the bell ring, she turned back and frowned, knowing that class was over.
"Oh dear...it seems that time's run out. Students who have not had a chance to use the spell, please practice on your own time with some bushes that I will stick here. By the end of this week, if I do not see that the bushes are gone, I will find out who didn't do it, and will lose points for their house."
The plants will tell me who will lie
"Class dismissed!"
