Potions, Lesson Two: First Years Empty Potions, Lesson Two: First Years

Post by Angel Valentine Tue Feb 28, 2012 10:55 am

Angel sighed as she fixed up her room. So much had happened during the week. News had been spreading of how Creatures were rising up and banning together to control the wizards in general. It had not only worried her, but it had worried Lily who convinced her that to be safe they would be collecting Wolfsbane for potions. It was a shame that the students were not advanced enough to do this potion, or else she'd gladly hand them to anyone, but it forced her and Lily to begin making some Wolfsbane potions in case anyone were bit.

She currently was dealing with a headache, and she figured that if students behaved today she could end the class quickly. Se he had the brilliant idea of having the first years finish up the potions that they had started the previous time.

Walking towards the front of the class, she waited for the students to come and waited to ignore the migraine that she had.

Walking into class, he noticed that the professor didn't look too cheery, but when did she ever. He noticed she was always serious, but then again people were so talkative, he understood. Sitting down on his old seat, he pulled out his items and waited.

Xander entered the class in a relatively good mood. As long as they were brewing something, what could go wrong?

He nodded to the professor, who was obviously not in the mood, and sat down next to Luke. He wanted to ask him about his date with Victoria, but this class was definitely not the place to do so. So he settled with getting his book out.

Potions, Lesson Two: First Years Empty Re: Potions, Lesson Two: First Years

Post by Kasey Flynn Tue Feb 28, 2012 4:59 pm

Kasey pushed the door open with his shoulder, walking in, his face buried in a book. He slid into a seat nearby the two slytherin boys and slid his bag to the floor. He was so engrossed in what he was reading, at the peak in his book, and wanted to try to finish it before class began. The possibility of that was not likely but he wanted to get as far as he could. The near silence of the room he found to be peaceful, and the darkness as well.

Tessa walked into the classroom with Yasmina ledding her as she went over and sat down at a desk. And waited for class.

Potions, Lesson Two: First Years Empty Re: Potions, Lesson Two: First Years

Jaycie briskly made it to class, enticed by the prospect of getting to finish off the potion they'd started last lesson. She entered the dungeon room and sat down at a desk, somewhere near-ish Tessa. It wasn't a bad spot, she could see the board without being in anyone's way, hear the Professor without being too noticed.

There was a new Ravenclaw boy with his nose buried in a book sitting near the Slytherins. Jaycie wondered how that would go down. Professor Valentine wasn't one for nonsense, and really... those Slytherin boys scared her a little.

Potions, Lesson Two: First Years Empty Re: Potions, Lesson Two: First Years

Post by Angel Valentine Wed Feb 29, 2012 12:01 pm

Seeing that more students had arrived she cleared her throat trying to earn their attention.

"I see that there are new students in the classroom, and I would like to re-introduce myself. I am Professor Valentine, I am your Potions Mistress. Today we will continue to the Wiggenweld Potion. Can anyone tell me into what category does the Wiggenweld Potion potion fall in?" she asked.

She wondered how many more students would be entering, but she figured after a few Q and A's they could really begin the lesson.

Luke was surprised to see that the lesson had started. He barely had time to nod towards Xander acknowledging him, and then towards the new Ravenclaw boy that he'd never seen before.

Hearing Professor Valentine's question, he immediately raised his hand, and once he was picked on, he answered.

"The Wiggenweld Potion falls into the Healing category of potions." he said and then added "It awakens people from magically induced sleep"

Noticing the class had started and the professor began speaking, Kasey marked his page and set down his book. Haven taking to long, a slytherin and a gryffindor had already answered. He should have been faster. Some other things came to his mind and he raised his hand before speaking.

"With what's already been said, that means this potion care cure the Draught of Living Death. They share some common ingredients as well, including moondew, I believe..."

Xander raised his hand. "There is also a Grand Wiggenweld Potion, that is stronger. One of the key ingredients is Wolfsbane."

He remembered Professor Del Sol mentioning that she and Professor Valentine had spent time collecting Plants to make Wolfsbane. He thought it was a nice thing that the potions and herbology teachers were working so closely together.

He deliberately walked by Tessa and touch her on the shoulder to let her know he was there.

Walking his way over to his spot he nodded to the other guys.

Post by Jaycie Simple Wed Feb 29, 2012 10:00 pm

Jaycie listened to what was being said, intently paying attention. She didn't really know anything about the Wiggenweld Potion, so she didn't say anything. Instead she took mental notes on what the other students knew. It seemed to her to be a very interesting potion; though she doubted it could wake someone from the Draught of Living Death. Jay thought she'd read somewhere that nothing was really powerful enough to wake someone from the Draught of Living Death, and even if there was, they wouldn't be teaching it to first years.

Potions, Lesson Two: First Years Empty Re: Potions, Lesson Two: First Years

Post by Guest Wed Feb 29, 2012 11:51 pm

Annabell gracefully walked through the door. On the way up to class, she was getting so excited. It was her first class at Hogwarts. She had high hopes for the future and planned to study hard at school.

Walking through the door, she stopped in her tracks, noticing class had already started and she was only just walking through the door now. Her eyes widened and a look of horror grew on her face. Oh no! I thought I was on time. Now what do i do?

She then remembered back to when she first packed her bags for school. She put in an old watch but noticed the time was a bit behind. She said to herself that she would set the right time when she got to her dorm, but she forgot to.

"I'm so very sorry, Professor. Please forgive my forgetfulness. I'm new to Hogwarts" she said, shamefully looking at the floor. She then proceeded to sit down in a seat next to Jacie and quickly get her equipment out for the lesson.

Angel smiled seeing that more students were talking, but while more than one answered she chuckled a bit. Noticing that a new students had entered he frowned a bit seeing she was a few minutes late.

"I see...well Miss Murphey, I am forced to take five points from Hufflepuff. Please remember not to be late next time, no matter how new you are. Be happy that you are not given detention"

She did feel bad about the Hufflepuff, but she needed to show that her potions class meant business.

"As for the others very good! Ten points to Mr. Sullivan for your wit, and five for each students that mentioned other information. I see you all have done your reading!"

She waved her hand and the words of the spell appeared.

"Today you will continue from the previous potion!" she said smirking. "For the two new students, I have two cauldrons with half of the potion done so you will be on time with the others.

Sloth brain Mucus (Make sure to take the chunks out of it so just the mucus is placed in the cauldron)
Moondew drops (only twelve)
Powdered root of asphodel (make sure it's pink)
Shredded dittany (thinly shredded)
It should be bright pink....
Wiggentree bark (2 oz)
Moly petals (36 rose petals)
Salamander blood (4 ounces)
At this points please cover and wait ten minutes...
10 Lionfish spines
Unicorn horn (powdered, make sure it's powdered)
Wolfsbane (at this point it should be green)

"Please begin!"

Potions, Lesson Two: First Years Empty Re: Potions, Lesson Two: First Years

Post by Kasey Flynn Sat Mar 03, 2012 3:55 pm

Kasey got up from his seat, grabbing all the needed ingredients. Bringing them back over to his station of the half started potion, he methodically set out his stuff.

He made sure all the mucus was seperated out, putting it into the cauldron and followed it with the moondew and powdered root. He shred the dittany and putting it in, he smiled at the perfect colour. With the bark petals and blood and the covering of the cauldron, Kasey was feeling a bit annoyed. All the measuring was a bit tedious, although very necessary.

He wiped his hair from his forehead with his sleeve, waiting the ten minutes for the potion to sit.

Xander went over to the cupboard to grab the ingredients. Once back at his desk he took the time to count out all the petals, shred the dittany, and crush the root into powder. While the sloth brain was especially gross, he took care to leave no extra pieces in the mucus.

Falling into his usual way, he put all the ingredients in order of how they would be added, using this to make sure he had everything. When it came to potions, a mistake was not an option.

After all his prepping, he added the ingredients. He counted out, to himself, the drops, bark, and blood. When he was done it was a pastel pink that made him think of the sickly shade associated with babies.

Putting the cover on, he sat down to wait.

Tessa then remember that she wrote all of it down from the class before. She then walked over to the cupboard. After grabbing everything that she needed, she walked back over to her desk. Looking down she seen that Yas had went to sleep. Tessa then started to pick through the sloth brain, making sure to get the chunks out. This part was making her stomach turn, but she knew that she had to do it.

She then added the rest of the ingredients in. Tessa knew that she couldn't afford to make a mistake on this. She then counted all of the petals that she would need. She only wished that Damien was aloud to help her. But she knew that she had to do this by herself. After dropping the bark, blood it was turning a pastel pink. She then covered her potion and had to sit there and wait.

Potions, Lesson Two: First Years Empty Re: Potions, Lesson Two: First Years

Post by Guest Tue Mar 06, 2012 12:53 am

Damien had got the rest of the ingredients for his potion and continued to work on the rest of it. Damien always loved potions and he was learning a lot from Master Prewett. Potions was the one thing that Tabi and him had in common.

Damien had written down the directions on his piece of paper so he could look right at things. Damien had gotten the first eight ingredients into the potion base then he took the cover and place it on the caldron. He kept watching over at Tessa and how she was doing. He had to laugh as he watched her facial expressions as she was messing with the sloth brain, girls never seemed to like gross stuff, except Tabi, but she was not the typical girl.

When his timer went off he added the last 3 ingredients. Adding the lionfish spines he counted to 10, then he had taken the Unicorn horn that he had turned into powdered. He had actually worked on powdering it while it was cooking the 10mins. The final ingredient he added was Wolfsbane. After he finished the potion it turned to the perfect shade of green. He had loved working with a potions master because potions came easy to him. He wanted to be a potions master one day.

Damien bottle up the potion and waited for the final instructions on what to do with it.

He looked satisfied with his potion and looked at the teacher waiting. He knew he had done as asked, if only he might get out soon.

Lifting his head he noticed the time, and hid a smirk knowing it was almost over. He definitely preferred Herbology over this class.

"Good students, now it seems we have all run out of time. Please be kind and write your names on them so I may inspect them later to see your process. Class dismissed"
