Lesson Two: First Years Empty Lesson Two: First Years

Post by Angel Valentine Tue Feb 28, 2012 11:11 am

From her last lesson, she had observed a few things, for one thing, not a lot of students knew much about Muggles in general. She decided that she needed to move slower in her classroom perhaps show them more about Muggles.

Currently, she was placing slides into their respective order for something she hadn't done in years: Projection slides. She figured, if she showed them enough about the Muggle world, they would be able to see the impact of electricity.

She had also placed a bin for the homework assignments, and was ready to ask each and every student at least one question about the previous lesson.

Tessa walked into the classroom, thanks to Yasmina. She then took a seat.

Xander forced himself to go to class. He knew it was going to be valuable in the long run, but he hated feeling like an idiot. He had done the research for the homework, but some of it still sounded like mumbo jumbo to him. He handed in the paper anyway, even if it may be terrible.

Taking a seat he saw the teacher sorting something. He wasn't quite sure what they were but figured they'd learn soon enough.

Lesson Two: First Years Empty Re: Lesson Two: First Years

Post by Kasey Flynn Tue Feb 28, 2012 4:24 pm

While Kasey didn't think it to important for him to take this class, as he felt he was well raised in both worlds, he had taken it at the request of his father, begging for him to hang onto his muggle side of the family, not to forget who he was. It would make an easy grade anyway he thought as he walked into the room.

He looked at the professor as she was setting up what looked like to be a projection slide of some sort. He took a seat near the front of the room, taking a glance around as he took his novel from his bag and began to read.

Seeing that enough students had entered, she began her lesson. The projection was done, but she noticed that a new student had entered, someone who was also taking her Potions class.

"Okay students. I figure that since we have a new student, and you are all fairly new to me. I'd like for you to stand up, tell the class your name, blood status, place of birth, an interesting fact about yourself, and why you are taking this class"

Sitting down on the corner of her desk, she picked up a small stress ball and squeezed.

"I shall start" she said smirking. "I am Angel Valentine, pureblood, I was born in Barcelona. An interesting fact about myself is that I, love plants. I am teaching this class because I think that people should know more about the muggle culture"

Anne stood up slightly nervous and said, "umm hi I'm Anne Jones, Muggleborn, I was born in London. To be perfectly honest I'm not that intesting. I'm takeing this class because i think it would be interesting to learn about muggles from a wizards point of view." Then sat down and waited for the next person to go.

Tessa stood up and was just a little bit nervous. " I am Tessa Grey, I am not really sure of my blood status, because I was left at an orphanage. So I am not really sure where I was born. An interestding fact is that I am blind and I am not stopping that from me learning. And the reason I took this class was to prove to myself that a muggle and the wizarding world aren't that different." She then sat back down.

Xander stood. "Xander Clarke, pure blood from London. I'm actually learning a new appreciation for Herbology, and I took this class to learn something new."

He quickly sat, not wanting to draw much attention to himself in this class.

Damien walked into muggle studies and took his seat next to Tessa just like he promised. He noticed when he walked into the class that everyone was saying who they were so before he sat down.

"I am Damien Greene, Pureblood, from London, nothing really interesting to tell about myself. And the reason I took the class is Tessa told me I needed too to learn more about muggles."

The professor had started talking, saying that they should introduce themselves. Kasey closed and put away his book, listening to the others talk. When it came to him he stood up as well.

"Kasey Flynn. I'm from northern Ireland and I've a muggle father and witch mother. I'm taking this class for my father...and my family moves a lot."

Finishing his introduction, he sat back down, looking around at the others.

She nodded satisfied.

"Good good, now today students, I would like for you to pay attention to the front of the room. This is a projector, as imagined, it creates a larger image of the thin plastic I put to the light. Today you will be tested as to what you learned, and just how much you read."

Placing an image of the car, she looked around.

"This is a Ford Model T American car, can anyone tell me what age it was invented?" she asked around.

He was late! He groaned quietly as he heard the door squeak a bit. He hoped that no one had noticed. Seeing that most students had introduced himself, and the professor was staring at him he felt himself flush.

"My name is Luke Sullivan, I am a pureblood from London. Interesting fact is that I am cousins with Xander and I took this class because I need to know more about the muggle world"

He felt that he should make up what he had done. He was late after all. He had done all the reading as well and he thought of it and raised his hand.

"1908" he said softly. "While not the first car invented, it was the first time it was industrialized"

My aren't students excited
she thought.

"Very good students. Ten points towards Mr. Sullivan, and five to Miss Grey who managed to answer the founder, despite the fact I didn't ask for it."

Looking at the car, she moved towards the next image and smiled.

"Now, if you all did you essays, please pass them forward..so they can be graded"

She moved the next image to a motorcycle, then moved to a bike, carriages, and horses. She wanted them to understand just how they looked like.

"Now...can anyone tell me, why it might be important to take this class?"

Lesson Two: First Years Empty Re: Lesson Two: First Years

Post by Kasey Flynn Fri Mar 02, 2012 5:15 pm

Kasey listened as the class went on, professor Valentine putting up all the slides of different muggle transportation. When she asked about the importance of the class, Kasey couldn't help but raise his hand and give it a shot.

"It's so we can see how we're not all that different. We're all people, and have a lot of the same things but done in slightly different ways. It's no help if we're ignorant to them either. Ignorance and misunderstand can lead to fear or hatred. They're the other half of our world, we all live in the same places. So being fearful or hateful of them only hurts us...

Damien sat back and listened to everyone else talk, while it was interesting Damien had now clue how to answer anything he just sat back and listened in her class.

Damien was a Slytherin and had no idea about anything in this class. What some guys do for a woman.

Angel smiled seeing that the new student had spoken up.

"Very good Mr. Flynn five points! And with that it transitions into the next assignment. I'd like for you to write how our magical world could include some sort of Muggle technology, you will present it to me in the next lesson"
