At the Edge of the Water (Open)

She closed her eyes and smiled seeing that she was surrounded by her environment, a place she knew. She bent down and grabbed water in her hands and smiled feeling it's cool temperature. Many times she asked herself why would she want to act human when she could simply jump in the water and return to her home, where she belonged.

"Beautiful" she whispered softly.

Tamara was swimming at a lake she didn't even know the name of. She then noticed something. She caught up on a presence much like her own, only calmer and more refined. A siren. She aimed her head to the surface and started swimming to it.

When she broke it, she saw a beautiful woman standing by the lake and looking longingly at it. Tamara smiled softly, knowing the woman had seen her.

"It is truly beautiful is it not? Tell me, siren, why have you left it?" she asked curiously.

She knew sirens were more peaceful than mermaids. They could be cruel and horrible, but they didn't drink blood like mermaids did. Not that she knew of anyways.

When she then realized what she had asked, she frowned.

"Not to be rude, of course. To make up for that mistake; my name is Tamara Aquaila, and I'm a mermaid, as you can probably see," she said softly.

Thalia hid her initial surprise as she saw someone emerging from the lake. She looked at her with her golden eyes studying her. A mermaid, clear as day, and she let out a serene smile, something oftentimes seen from a siren.

The mermaid was very beautiful, and she knew that like sirens they too were seen as gorgeous and incapable of being surpassed by a mere human. Her eyes were matching the color of the sea and she new beauty when she saw it. A small smile glossed her face, a friendly one not wanting to seem rude.

"Do not worry dear, I do not take it as an offense" she replied, her voice sounding like musical notes. "If you must know, I left it out of sheer curiosity. I was curious about what was beyond my home, and I have learned some. But it seems no matter how comforting the human world might seem, it cannot call me like the ocean does"

Feeling a bit out of practice she soon added.

"Forgive me I have not said my name. It is Thalia, Thalia Rosalinda"
