Lesson Two - First Years
The Doctor whistled a little bit, idly making up a tune, as he twirled a stave expertly in his hand. He'd discovered his affinity for staves a long time ago and since then he'd worked tirelessly with them. Spinning the stave up in the air like a baton, he sat down in his chair and caught the stave on his fingertip.

Cautiously Annika watched the professor out of the corner of her eye as he twiddled with the stave. It really amazed her how dexterous he was. She would never say anything about it to anyone though, she was still shy. It wasn't her normal behavior, but there were more people in Durmstrang than in her home town of Butzweiler. She was always afraid to say anything for fear of calling someone by the wrong name, or revealing just how 'small town girl' she really was. Sitting down she took out her quill and some parchment and began a letter. 'Dear Mama and Papa....."

Ella-May stepped into class quickly, fearing she'd be late. Her worries were mended, however, when she saw she was only the second student there. Ella watched in fascination as the Lehrer played with a stave. He appeared quite skilful.
Sitting down at a random desk, she pulled out her things from the depths of her bag. "Hello, Lehrer."
