Another Moonlit Night (Pxyis and Parker)
Parker was sitting against a tree a bit of a ways off from the shore of the lake. He managed to get his way out of the castle the same way he did when he first came by the lake. But this time he knew a way back, through the secret passage Pxyis showed him that night. Why did he even come back here? It was a stupid thing to do when the last time he tried to return in the day time ended in disaster. But that was the day time. It wasn't the same. And he had a feeling that until he faced this place again properly he'd keep having the dreams about it, he'd keep itching at his ankle even though it never itched.
He felt like he needed to get away from everything that seemed real anyways. And this was the place. What happened to him here almost made it surreal, as if it were entirely separate from the real world. Back at that night it was him, Pxyis, and the lake. It was the night he realized...something about himself that he still couldn't put his finger on. He rested his head on his knees that were brought up.
He felt his lip quiver and tried to push everything he was feeling down. He was just being stupid. That's all he was lately. He couldn't do anything right and one thing after another only proved it. Pxyis was always mad with him, he would upset his other friends, he couldn't ever keep his mouth shut, he didn't know how to comfort, and he was a damn coward; and as Tabi said, he didn't belong at all. He knew it was stupid to blame himself for everything too, but he just couldn't help it. He sniffed and looked back up over the moonlit water and the reflection of the sky off it.
He needed to stop this self pitying, it seemed all anyone was doing lately and he didn't like it. Maybe just the overall bad feelings were rubbing off on him. He knew he just felt so overwhelmed all the time. Once or twice he even felt like he just wanted to snap. He hated this and how he'd been acting recently. He needed to change something...but maybe things would change for him next year. He'd be helping Professor Henley in the hospital wing, he'd be able to go to Hogsmeade even though he'd have nothing to buy. Maybe people would just grow up a bit? He lowered his head again onto his knees, sighing loudly.

Re: Another Moonlit Night (Pxyis and Parker)
Pyxis wasn't sure why she was here. What was her purpose, right now. She felt un-easy, strange, jittery. Her thoughts were all over the place, and she kept tripping over herself as she moved throughout the castle. Her cheeks were stained with tears, and her body ached from crying. She didn't even know why she was crying, maybe it was all too much. The stress, her friends, her life - she just couldn't take it. So she went away. She slid through the secret passage and escaped the castle with ease.
The girl air washed over her skin, made her feel at peace. The tears stopped almost instantaneously, and she felt as if a great weight had been lifted off of her shoulders. She knew why she was sad all of a sudden, it hit her almost as instantly as the wind had when she had first escaped the tunnel. She was slowly falling in love with her best friend, and damnit it hurt. She didn't want this, she just wanted her friend. Why, why, why, why. Thoughts ran through her head, but another breath of wind washed them away.
Her vision span before her, and she stumbled over to the lake as she began to cry again. She was so frustrated, with herself mostly. Everything was so tiring, and she kept having nightmares. Of that gryindylow taking Parker, of the German's taking Charlotte, or the German's attacking again. The night was still, silent, too still, too silent. It put her on edge, made her worry, made her eyes flick around in the darkness. The moons eerie glow was reflected off the surface of the softly rippling lake, and that was when she saw Parker.
It was just like last time, him by the lake, her by the lake, just them in their own special world that only they knew about. Nothing, no-one could take this away from them. She moved over to Parker, wiping away her tears as she felt her mood lift at the sight of them. With a tiny smile, she pounced on him and pulled him down with her, her laughter breaking the stillness of the night.

Re: Another Moonlit Night (Pxyis and Parker)
Parker sat there with his head down on his knees for what felt like ages. He was trembling terribly from the ice cold wind, and he wished he brought another jacket. But of course he was too stupid to think of bringing one. His muscles felt stiff as tried to lose his mind in the cold and the wind and not think about just how cold the lake was or how he wanted to pull at his ankle. Not think about the loudness and the chaos of the attack, the nearly constant paranoia he felt, or the fact that his friends were losing all their families. Not think he may lose his family too, or could have lost Pxyis when he abandoned her like the coward he was.
Maybe that's why she was always so mad with him. He never tried to fight for her, be the hero. She always was saving him, and she must be so fed up dragging him around or him following her like a lost puppy. But he was in a sense, she was his first friend, his best friend, when he thought he'd never make any. She was the first to actually care what he had to say or if he actually lived. She could have just as easily stepped away from the struggling boy in the water that she hardly knew. But she didn't. Maybe that was it. Doing something to make her happy, make her proud, gave him a reason to live. Though with her being so mad at him all the time he felt so lost, like he actually had no purpose. And that may have been the most over whelming thing.
When he looked back up at the mirror-like lake, he caught sight of the ever familiar, almost florescent in the nighttime, blond hair of Pxyis'. He bit the inside of his cheek to keep from calling out for her, but it seemed like she'd seen him already. For a moment he worried he was in for a scolding like the first time. Not a, 'oh, are you alright, you nearly got pulled down' but a 'what were you thinking, you're smarter than that' sort of moment. He smiled a bit, but lately he figured it would just be her actually mad rather then concerned. He realized he never got a chance to ask her what she was upset about a few nights ago. Maybe now that they were in their own, separate world they'd be able to talk. Maybe it would go back to that first time they talked. It was open and it felt like nothing was kept or dodged around even though they hardly knew each other.
Lost in his thoughts he'd not noticed her rushing over. When she pounced him and knocked him right onto his back with her, his breath was knocked from him, but he laughed. He wrapped his arms around her as they both laughed. There seemed to be no reason for it, but it instantly made him feel better. She knew the connection they had here, he could tell. His chest felt so much lighter and he didn't even attempt to sit up as another chilled wind swept over them.

Re: Another Moonlit Night (Pxyis and Parker)
Pyxis laughter died down as the cool air washed over them, and she waited for him to release her with a light blush on her cheeks. When it seemed that he was quite comfortable where he was, she giggled and disentangled herself for him arms, pulling herself up into a sitting position. She looked out over the lake and felt the memories wash over her like the breeze had. She loved it here, at night, with Parker by her side. She looked down at him and pulled him up beside her so she could rest her head on his shoulder.
"Remember? Last year, when we first became best friends. It was right here." She smiled softly as she looked out across the lake. She wished she could stay here forever, never have to go back to the castle and sleep. She knew they were breaking a ton of school rules, but she'd never cared for rules anyway. They were more like guidelines in her opinion.

He smiled when Pxyis had giggled and sat up. He closed his eyes, still laid back, taking in the slightly chilled wind, which was suddenly much more pleasant. Everything felt so comfortable at that moment, despite the resent ups and downs they had. He opened his eyes as she had pulled him up and took in a deep breath, looking out as she rested her head on his shoulder. Despite what had happened, this place had become so peaceful, a place to escape to. Maybe it was because of what happened that it felt like that. He had often heard from the older people that dying was a peaceful sort of thing. He thought he were mad then, but he may have had a little appreciation for it now.
"Of course I remember...there's no way I could forget. Not in a million years." How could he forget it? There was something so surreal about it, like a strange dream that was forever stuck in his mind. It could have been precisely the stangeness of it that made it so special. He had been attacked only moments before and then they just talked as if nothing had happened. He felt a smile tug his lips. He figured he liked how strange they may have been. Back and forth like they were, while frustrating at times, he couldn't imagine things any other way.

Re: Another Moonlit Night (Pxyis and Parker)
Pyxis felt at peace with everything in that moment, for here the troubles of the world just seemed to fade away. All of the schoolwork that had been making her tired and stressed out seemed to just disappear, as if it had never existed. All of the pent up emotion within her had been released into the air and was drifting away with the wind. She sighed happily, for out here this was their world. They had their own, private little world that could never be taken away from them, she hoped.
Those few words made her feel warm and fuzzy inside, and she hugged him tightly as she felt tears swim in her eyes. "Neither could I." She mumbled, settling back into her previous position with her head on his shoulder. She watched the black lake, like a piece of black silk rippling lightly in the wind, save for the moon reflected on its peaceful, beautiful surface. She smiled softly, it was as if nothing had changed, as if they were innocent little 11 year olds once more who'd seen no bloodshed, no war.

He could practically feel both of their worries disappear into the dark and feel her relax more against him. He felt a sigh of relief escape from him, and while he felt better, there was still a slight heaviness of worry deep within. He couldn't let it bother him though cause this world was separate from everything. Nothing else mattered, it couldn't matter.
He kept his eyes on the dark water, able to spot the small dots of stars just as clearly in the water as he could the sky. He found his thoughts growing just as dark, and found himself concerned for the future. "Pyxis...you think things will get better soon? With all these bad things happening to people?...Everything has to get better at some point right?"

Re: Another Moonlit Night (Pxyis and Parker)
Pyxis was un-aware of something within Parker that was worrying him, to busy reminiscing about the last time they'd been there. She realised now that she could've been kinder after saving him, but she'd been panicking and all to aware of the fact that it was so much like the last time when she'd lost her best friend. She knew that it didn't give her a right to yell at him, and she also realised that he hadn't heard a majority of what she'd said.
Pyxis' eyes trailed upwards towards the sky, the stars twinkling above and forming strange shapes within the sky. She loved it out here at night, everything was so at peace. It was as if the world was simultaneously relaxing. Pyxis could only shrug at his question. "Im not sure, I don't know. Wars always last a long time, Parks."

Re: Another Moonlit Night (Pxyis and Parker)
Pushing his mind back to the first time out here, he could almost feel the lap of the water against his legs and the pull of his arm. He smiled a little, remembering the way Pyxis had so frantically been yelling at him. No cooing or coddling just a straight up, 'what were you thinking.' He didn't understand or recall any of the other things she'd yelled at him though. But that was fine. With an experience like that, he may not have had as strong a bond to her if she'd reacted any other way. The conversation after only set it in stone. Sometimes he even found himself wondering about the friend she had lost, but figured it would never be appropriate to ask. He realized there was still a lot he didn't know about Pyxis, and maybe they could finally get around to talking about those things he didn't know yet.
He sighed at her shrugged comment. "You know, I still don't get why were in a blasted war. I didn't even know we were in one, but everyone keeps throwing that word around..." He sat forward a bit, wrapping his arms around his legs. "I hope it doesn't last long..."

Re: Another Moonlit Night (Pxyis and Parker)
Pyxis smiled softly as the moon shone brightly in the sky, casting its luminous glow on the rippling surface of the lake. She shut her eyes as a warm breeze ruffled her hair and made her feel at one with nature. She shifted closer to Parker and rested her head on his shoulder as she grabbed his hand and held it tight. She stretched her other hand out in front of her and focused hard on the cold feeling that swept through her. With her eyes narrowed, she imagined her minds hand forcing the wind to ruffle his hair, and grinned as it did so. She let her hand drop then and sighed in exhaustion. She lifted her head to look at his hair and giggled at how wind-swept it looked. "Do you like it?" She asked playfully as she pointed to his reflection in the water.
Pyxis shrugged her shoulders, she didn't know anymore than him and placed her head on his shoulder once more, her hand holding his so hard she thought she might cut off the blood circulating through it and forced her hand to loosen her grip on his. "I don't know either, its kind of stupid though. But, war is war and there's nothing we little kids can do about it. I hope it doesn't last long too." She let go of his hand and watched as he wrapped his arms around his legs.
