Lesson Three - First Years
Raven couldn't help but chuckle when she thought of what she was going to be doing with the student's today, it was going to be a good lesson, why? Because she got to see the student that she terrified a few days ago and the rest of the class.
Always getting a buzz from doing that, Raven couldn't wait.
Sitting on top of the cupboard that she kept her ingredients in, Raven looked down at her classroom, focusing her stare on the door and waiting for the students to arrive, she had taken the liberty of using a rock instead of the skull to hold the door open this time.

Alexandra walked down the halls to her first class, potions she didn't mind potions she started humming a song and looked down at her feet. She finally made it to the potions classroom, when she did she looked around the potions classroom looking for the professor she poked her head into the classroom. " Hello?" she asked looking around the classroom she sighed quietly.

Yeva walked down the hall her head down. Turning into the class room she looked around and saw a girl looking very perplexed as she stood in the middle of the room. For a moment Yeva was perplexed as well, and then she spotted The Sweeney perched, as her name sake 'Raven,' atop a cupboard. Walking past the other girl she elbowed her discreetly before nodding towards their teacher in a secretive manner wanting to alert her to The Sweeney's presence with out The Sweeney noticing.

Alexandra looked at the girl who poked her, she looked at where the girl was nodding too and saw the Professor she gave the girl a small smile of thanks, and let the girl walk inside first. The girl wasn't in her house , she shrugged and kept her head down Alexandra wasn't shy, she was just quiet.

Re: Lesson Three - First Years
Agne rushed down the hall lift the hem of her skirt off the floor with one hand while the other frantically clutched her books to her chest. She couldn't be late not to this class not again. She had this unnerving feeling that if she were to be late to potions ever again she would find herself killed, skinned and made into a doorstop. She shuttered. Darting into the door she was both relieved and horrified by the fact that "Trevor" was no longer at his post. Still in full sprint she headed for her desk, but something caught her eye. Turning she found The Sweeney looking much like the cat that got the cream upon a cupboard, this frightened her.
It was however in these few brief moments that Agne forgot to stop running and the table forgot to get out of her way. The air rushed out of her lungs with a thunderous 'wuff' as she collided with it. Giving a small scream which had neither force nor breath to carry it far she flipped over the table head and shoulders crashing to the floor, back strained precariously on the chair of the next row feet straight up in the air still wheeling. Agne blinked as few times as the world, in this new perspective floated into few and then the pain hit. "Ah!" she sobbed trying to breath without breathing because the expansion of lungs hurt terribly.

Re: Lesson Three - First Years
Praying not to be late for potions Annika skirted around the corner and into the class with a deep sigh of relief. The Sweeney seemed to be in an almost happy mood. Be she knew that the sadistic was just below the surface by the look in her eyes. "I wonder how the detention sessions went? " Slowly looking around she was happy to note that Agne, the shy seeming girl was still there. She had felt real compassion for her the last class. It looked as if she'd had a rough time again today. From the looks of things Agne had a way of drawing attention to herself and most assuredly not in a good way. Annika glanced at the Sweeney and saw that wicked smile slowly take form.
Not knowing if she should say anything for fear the professor would mistake compassion for weakness, she just nodded and smiled at the girl. She was a strong potions mixer, or that's what her parents had said, and she did NOT want to be accused of being weak. If only she could have a friend in this class that would understand her it would be alot easier to face what fears she had of the professor.
fear or no fear; friend or no friend she intended to do her best and try to impress her professor with her abilities. Pulling her quill, parchment and book from her bag, she sat quietly waiting for the class to start

Re: Lesson Three - First Years
Katrina had heard a lot about the Sweeney but she was not bothered by the idea at all. She was at the point nothing seemed to scare her anymore. Guess that is what happens when you run away from home at such a young age.
Coming into the classroom Katrina noticed that Hugo was already in class and she was glad. He had become like her strength whether he knew it or not. Glancing over at the Sweeney sitting on her perch she took her seat by Hugo.
"Hey Hugo, hows it going?"

Raven saw that most of the class was now here and she grinned manically down at them, there seemed to be more than last time but that was of no matter to her at all, it was just something that she would have to deal with, and she wondered why some of them appeared not to be scared by her presence.
Hopping down she raised an eyebrow at the girl who had detention with her, and she wondered why she was in such a high amount of pain, going to the cupboard she rootled around for a moment and then threw her a small vial of potion, a glint in her eyes.
"Want to chance it and see if it's going to make you better?"
Chuckling Raven turned and addressed the class:
"Hello small children. Today we are going to be brewing something called an 'Invigorating Draught' now can anyone hazard a guess as to some of the ingredients in that potion? There might be some housepoints in it for you."
Having replenished her supply of house points in her jar, Raven grabbed it and waited for someone to answer.
(OOC: There are no canon ingredients to this potion so just throw some out there )

Re: Lesson Three - First Years
Thinking back to home, Annika watched the faces of the other students. Some seemed scared and some just reluctant to try for fear of being wrong. She had watched her mom brew this one when her papa had been ill. It had helped him regain his strength and his humor although humor was not what she expected it to bring to the Sweeney. She seemed to enjoy other types of emotions.
Shyly she raised her eyes and her hand, " Ma'am would it include an infusion of oil of echanacia and powdered fever frew?" Then glacing sideways at her parchment she waited patiently for a response from someon, anyone so that her voice didn't linger in the silence that was the classroom.

Alexandra sighed she was trying to think, her mother made this when she was sick she sighed and raised her hand she wasn't scared of The Sweeney " Ma'am, also a scale from a mermaid and a leaf from a certian tree" Alexandra said she didn't want to be the second one to answer she sighed quietly.

Annika looked over to Alexandra with a relieved smile. At least someone else was trying to remember a potion the sweeney hadn't taught them. Maybe she could work with her or something sometimes when they did class work. It would be nice to have someone who was interested as she was in the magical arts. At home in the village there were only 5 wizarding families and she was the oldest of the children. so , alas, she hadn't had anyone her age but muggles to do things with growing up. Looking around she watched the faces of the rest of the class and out of the corner of her eye she watched the professor as she thought of her next move.

Yeva bit her lip and looked down at her hands, she had no idea, and with The Sweeney as her teacher she wasn't about to risk guessing.

Re: Lesson Three - First Years
Agne flinched but was able to catch the vial as she took her seat. "Thank you..." she whispered softly still unsure of what she had just been given. She popped the lid and took a tentative whiff, the brew was quite malodorous. She paled, was she really meant to drink it? A thought occurred to her, perhaps she could sneak the bottle out and make her think she drank it, but that would only work if it was actually going to ease her pain. Stewing she only just heard the question posed the class.
Still rolling the vial in hand she dared a whispered answer hoping she would not go the way of Trevor "Bicorn horn and Mandrake root?" she guessed.

Katrina looked around the room and just smirked looking at the little know it alls. She just decided to sit there and say nothing, but then Sweeney was her head of house and they may or may not look good.
"Wolfsbane of course has to be added" Kat remarked smartly.

Re: Lesson Three - First Years
Raven was surprised at the amount of answers that had come from the student, of course not all of them were correct but they didn't need to know that, she was sorely tempted to let them make the potions with the ingredients that they had suggested.
"Not one of you managed to give me a correct ingredient, even the people who thought that they did." she looked at the girl from her own house, Katrina if she remembered correctly "Shame on you!" she frowned.
"Now, now, I think we had better begin don't you? Get the following ingredients from the cupboards at the side: hellebore, belladonna, flobberworms - three, runespoor eggs -two, and a base potion.
Once you have them, chop the runespoor eggs and place them into a heated base potion, wait until it turns blue, then after this you must add the Flobberworms one at a time, then one stir clockwise after you have added each one, then add the belladonna and the hellebore at the same time, heat for five minutes, then dish into your vials for testing"

Re: Lesson Three - First Years
Annika was feeling really disappointed that she hadn't got it right, she felt as if she had let her mama and papa down. Slowly she stood watching as first one then another student got their ingredients. When she had retrieved hers things and got to her cauldron, the excitement came back full force. She had to concentrate to keep from humming her favorite song as she began her work. She really wanted to show her mama she could cope with things here. The new Annika was nothing like the one who had left home just a few short weeks ago and she was ashamed of the way she had become. With luck and hard work maybe she could find that girl again and doing good on this potion would go along way to finding her. With that she set to work and got lost in the magic of potions.

Agne paled immediately. She'd only just read about Mandrake root and Bicorn horn the day before. She was very unsure of herself and felt rather out of place as she flipped through her potions book trying to discern what the ingredients looked like before she went to the cupboard.

Alexandra sighed as she choped the runespoor eggs than she placed them into the heated base potion, she sat there and waited a few minutes than it turned blue, than she added the first Flobberworm, than the second, and than the third she than grabbed the belladonna and the hellebore than she dropped them in at the same time. than she waited five minutes, and finally she poured it into the vials.

Re: Lesson Three - First Years
Katrina was in shock that wolfsbane was not an ingredient in the potion. I guess if Kat would have looked in the book she would have known that. But Sweeney being disappointed in her did bother her but she was not going to show it.
Katrina went over to the cupboard and retrieved the ingredients that Sweeney had mentioned.
Walking back over to her table she pulled out her wand and lite a fire under the cauldron and then placed the base potion into it and began to heat. While the potion was heating up Kat proceeded to chop the runespoor eggs.
Noticing that the potions was up to temp Kat placed the eggs into the potion base watching the potion finally turn to blue Kat moved onto the next step.
The next step was to add the three Flobberworms one at a time. After placing the first one in the cauldron she gave it one stir like the instructions said. The mistake that Kat made came next when she accidentally dropped the next two worms in at the same time.
"Crap" was all Kat could say as she watched her potion turn this really weird looking color. She went ahead and finished off the potion by adding the belladonna and the hellebore at the same time then set it to heat for five minutes
Knowing she was going to be in deep shite because she messed up her potion, she went ahead and bottled up what she had. She was not sure what had happened but she would make sure it would not happen again.

Re: Lesson Three - First Years
Dimitrius tapped his fingers on the desk a few times before he actually got up and retrieved all the ingredients he would need to start making the potion. He made his way back to his little area before starting to heat up the base potion. He chopped up the two runespoor eggs with care, since he would rather not slice his fingers off. Healing magic or not, getting cut still hurt. He placed both the chopped up eggs into the base potion and crossed his arms, waiting for it to turn blue.
Once he saw the potion take on a blue quality, he added one Flobberworm before stirring once clockwise. He did that twice more and reached over for the belladonna and hellebore. He thought that the potion looked fine, but perhaps he could have waited just a bit longer to add each Flobberworm. Adding the hellebore and belladonna at the same time, he let it sit for five minutes, with his arms crossed. He wasn't the best brewer, but he thought he did well enough to get by.
When the five minutes was up, he bottled up some of the potion and corked it in his little vial. He hoped he made it at least decently well.

Annika worked quickly setting her station up. Turning on the cauldron so the base could heat, she looked around to see if she was doing okay. Agne seemed a little confused about the ingredients and was just now trying to get them. "If you want you can use the cauldron next to me. Maybe we could work together. My mama is a good healer and I know what alot of the ingredients look like. I just don't know how to put them together real good yet." She gave her a shy smile and hoped she hadn't been too forward. Sometimes she did that.

Raven sighed and rang the bell on her desk to signal the end of the lesson and she got up from the desk and looked around at all of the potions, although not all of them were ready just yet, she could see that some were on their way to being completed and she looked at the one girls who was completed and raised an eyebrow.
Taking the vial she opened it, looked at the content, and chuckled lightly, tapping the vial it dissappeared and she turned to the class.
"To all of those who gave the potion a try 10 points, and to those of you who didn't even bother to get the ingredients, shame on you." she whispered.
Opening the door to the class, Raven collected the vials from the Verstand boy and the Geschick girl and nodded satisfactiorally "Class dismissed."
CLOSED:
Lesson Point: Invigorating Draught
House Points:
Verstand: 10
