Lesson Three - First Years
Richard yawned a little as he sat down on the edge of his desk to wait for his class. Each table had a small collection of matches on them. Six matches for each student, no more and no less. With these six matches, Richard was going to teach them the next most important stange of transfiguration.

Anne walked into Transfiguration and sat at her desk noting the matches. She waited for class to start.

Xander walked into class and grabbed his usual seat. He pulled out his class things and prayed to Merlin that Luke would stop taking his sweet time to get here.
Transfiguration wasn't his strongest subject. It seemed to be too conceptual. He preferred the exact science of potions to Visualizing.

Re: Lesson Three - First Years
Alcyone hummed a tune under her breath as she moved throughout the halls to her Transfiguration class. She almost tripped over a loose stone, but managed to catch herself on the wall. She huffed, but continued walking until she reached her transfiguration classroom.
She would've liked to enter the classroom like a normal person, but alas it seemed she had gained a 'clumsy' trait for the day, and she tripped over the doorframe. "Ooft." She exclaimed as she landed, and with her cheeks tinted red she collected her stuff and moved over to a seat in the back, glad there were only 2 other students who had witnessed that. And her head of house.

Richard looked out over his class a few more times as they all settled into their places. Clapping his hands once, with a wandless amplification charm to make the sound louder, Richard stood in front of his class,
"In the last few lessons you have been working on non-organic transfiguration. Non-organic to non-organic and so on." he paused before gesturing to six matches on his desk, "That ends today. Today you will be learning non-organic to organic. And living."
He pointed his wand at the small pile of wooden matches on his desk,
"Botain." he declared loudly so that all of his students could hear him. The six matches began to merge together, as if liquid, before they arranged themselves into the shape of a slowly twitching stick insect. He picked up the small creature and it scurried around in the palm of his hand, "You shall turn your matches into a stick insect with that incantation."
He closed his hand, as if to squash the bug, but before he had even half closed his fist it had returned to being matches, which dropped onto his desk ready to be used again. Richard turned back to his class,
"The wand movements are simple." he instructed them firmly, "One clockwise turn and then a simple flick downwards. You must speak the incantation clearly and firmly. Why? Because it is very similar to this spell."
He pointed his wand at the matches,
"Butain." he said firmly. The matches glowed white for a second before popping into pieces of confetti, "Incorrect... Boo-Tain. Correct... Boe-Tain. You may begin."

Anne pointed her wand at the matches, she turned her wrist clockwise and flicked it downward saying clearly, "Botain." She watched as her matches turned into a stick bug.
She was happy she managed it on her first attempet she smiled slightly.

Re: Lesson Three - First Years
Luke snuck into class and looked at the Professor with wide-eyes. He hoped he wouldn't lose points for his class, but he was late because of his professor. He was lucky, in the fact that he managed to reach the class on time to hear his explanation.
"Sorry" he murmured hoping the professor wouldn't deduct points.
Hearing his lesson, he took out his wand and looked at the matches. Looking at the matches, he decided to visualize it first, before just going gun-ho towards it, it just wasn't his style. Seeing that it worked on that Gryffindor girl was nice, but then again that's why she was in Gryffindor, because they were impulsive and lacked finesse.
Clearing his throat, he moved his wrist clockwise and flicked it downward on the matches. Looking at it intently, he muttered:
"Boe-Tain"
The matches shook, and began to form the bug, but soon returned to their original position.
Perhaps I should speak louder he thought to himself.
"Boe-Tain!"
And sure enough, slowly the stick bug was formed and he grinned a bit.
