To Meet (Tess and Vero)

Vero entered the tower and touched the walls carefully. She was cautious of the room and it's abilities. She worried that she'd be caught and in trouble so she bit her lip and kept the robe tighter about herself. She wanted to know more about her new home if she would be spending seven more years of her life her without her mama, Chazi, Aurin, Zaxiel, her aunts or uncles. She heard ricocheting footsteps and swiveled around her wand raised eyes wide. Was this castle truly haunted?

"Hello?" She asked worriedly biting her lower lip.

Last stop She thought to herself.

Now in her second year, Tess had decided to finish up a list she had started while on the ride to Hogwarts. IT had started simple enough, exploring each floor and so forth, but now she had reached her last stop: The Prison Towers.

She'd heard that it had once housed Sirius Black deranged Killer, and how it was inescapable, that is except for Black himself. She had wanted to do this with Victoria, or Xander, but since both were busy, she decided to figure this out on her own...even if it killed her.

Reaching the last step, she found herself kicking a pebble accidentally that made a few noises. It echoed uncomfortable in the tower and she frowned at this.

"Stupid thing" she whispered.

Still she froze for a second hearing a voice. But curiosity got the best of her and she walked towards the light and saw a girl. She wasn't looking the right way, but she learned that she had followed the noise of the pebble she had kicked.

"Boo" She whispered, but the echo transferred it all around the room making it boom.

Vero gasped but smiled instead when she realized it was another girl instead. She wasn't literally in any danger. She was truly scared though that it was a ghost. Mama had told her that there were ghosts in Hogwarts and it chilled her to the bone at the thought of meeting the very annoying Moaning-Myrtle.

"My oh my I believe I do see a ghost." She stated using a mock-Southern Belle accent and smiling.

"Hi, it's good to know you're not my conscience here to haunt me." Vero grinned and extended a hand.

Tess smirked and walked over to the girl realizing she was a Gryffindor by her attire.

'Gryffindor, shoulda known.' she thought.

She rolled her eyes at the girl's accent, amused by it all.

"Afraid not, you don't really want a Slytherin as your conscious" she teased. "And ghosts do roam the halls of Hogwarts, just no on the towers. Peeves once said that it was too chilly, and he would freeze to death"

The glint in her eyes showed her amusement.

"The name's Tess, and you might be?" she asked.

Vero noticed the smirk and the mention of Slytherin. Putting the pieces together she figured this girl was in Slytherin. Yet to her relief she wasn't unkind at all. Or maybe she just didn't know that she was a half-blood, she added bitterly. She hid her wand in her sleeve.

"Hmm perhaps that would lighten the burden on all of us." Vero commented on Peeves with a smirk of her own.

"Veronika just call me Vero so it sounds less German." She mumbled rolling her eyes at the complication of her own name.

Tess laughed softly and shook her head.

"I love Peeves, he's the sliest ghost there is" she said. "Nice to meet you"

She smiled at the girl and stuck her hand out, with a small smile on her face.

"Nice to meet you. You're a first year right?" she asked.

She knew most of the Gryffindors and she'd never seen her face.

Vero nodded feeling a little intimated now.

"First year but not the least experienced at magic." She replied hoping she didn't sound like she was bragging.

"Eh, he could always smile a little more." She commented with a slight snark.

"How's Hogwarts treated you?" Vero asked curiously tilting her head.

Tess noticed something had shifted, and a small smile lit her face.

Why do all first year Gryffindors brag? How cute.. she thought smirking.

"Let's hope not" she drawled out at the girl's comment.

Walking towards the center of the Owlery, she shrugged at the question.

"Treating me pretty well, can't really complain." she began. "Always new people to trick, new tricks to learn, and avoiding being tricked. And you?" she asked.

She was testing the girl. For one thing, she wasn't that much of a trickster, usually Victoria, or Xander were at the butt of the pranks but that was it. Still, she wanted to test out the girl's reactions.

Vero shrugged and looked at one of the windows covered in dust. She made a face; it hadn't been occupied which was good. Yet it had not been cleaned either.

"Eh, haven't been here too long so not much to complain about." She raised a brow though at the next comment.

"So Fred and George Weasley's legacy as well as the Marauder's prankster days live on. Do they not?" She inquired slyly beginning to pace the room with even and soft steps.

Tess chuckled and shrugged.

"Well what can I say...if a Gryffindor isn't going to continue the legacy someone has to" she taunted.

Seeing an old cement bench she sat down and looked out the window. She felt comfortable enough, and looked back at the girl.

"You'll find something to complain about eventually. Idiots tend to roam the halls sometimes." she commented.

Vero took a seat beside Tess on the bench and hummed to herself as the lyrics played over in her head.

"Well, if I walk the halls then perhaps so. Slytherins have taken it over? Books do them no just." She commented shaking her head with a grin.

"First year was good to you huh?" She asked smiling.

Tess raised her brow and looked at the girl.

"Are you talking about Slytherins in terms of taking over the pranks, or out idiocy hm?" she taunted.

It was a good thing Tess tended to be the most passive Slytherin that roamed the halls...well perhaps after Parker, but still this Gryffindor wasn't very careful about her words.

"Mais n'est pas important." she said softly. "I'm in a curious mood, why not tell me about yourself?" she asked.

Vero shook her head.

"Pranks; idiocy is those of the brave in case you haven't noticed." Vero was surprised that Tess seemed to know French and she grinned.

"Je suis désolé de vous avoir offensé." She commented giving a half-crooked smile. "I'll share my secrets with you, if you share with me." She added slyly.

Tess smirked but shrugged a bit. Either the girl meant that there truly were idiots in her house, or she simply wanted to fit in. Either way she liked the answer. She had nothing against Gryffindors, on the contrary her best friend resided in the dorms.

"Course I'll share stuff with ya, the only thing is as a Slytherin, you get to decide what is true and what is a fallacy" she teased.

Vero nodded. She bit her lower lip for a moment. She yawned a little bit.

"Would you believe me if I said that I was a gypsy? A fallacy is that I'm a chicken that came back to life as a gypsy dancer's daughter who's Italian. Also, that I am a thief from who's the vampire sister of Jack the Ripper." She stated evenly with a teasing smile.

Tess did not know who Jack the Ripper was.

Is it something related to muggles? she thought.

She mentally wrote a note to asked Victoria about it later, as a muggle-born she suspected that Victoria would know. Still, a gentle smile touched her face towards the girl's playfulness.

"Lovely. I do suppose that a gypsy would sound interesting, are you?" she asked curiously. "As for me, I'll tell you a bit about myself, take it as a lie or truth, it's all on you." she began "I am from America, only child, find stupid people atrocious to be around, and I love myself some mischief"

Vero nodded and stopped her small mental noting and just smiled.

"Oh, how is America? What is it like?" She asked grinning. She wondered if Tess knew who Jack the Ripper is as she mentally noted that her mother was far too graphic in her stories of Jack the Ripper and the Murder in Florentine. All were gruesome tales she wished she never heard but they always entertained her.

Tess let a hum as she thought about America.

"It's warm" she said softly. "At least in California it is, and it's sunny. A lot of people there, a lot...Wizards tend to live in a specific area in the mountains or in the seaside where I lived. Muggles in the middle, but you never really knew, at least I never knew, if I was interacting with a muggle or wizard but I never asked...I suppose it was mostly wizards and witches now that I think about it, but they'd gone to Salem"

Vero nodded. She added that onto a list of beautiful places she'd have to go. Warmth felt so much better than the coldness of Germany and Scotland. She enjoyed the true loving feeling of the warmth.

"Oh really? How amazing! I think I'll have to visit California one day. When did you decide to attend school here in England?" She asked.

Tess looked at her and smirked at the question.

"Salem was out of the question with father. As he said 'A true McCartney blood family heads to Hogwarts to be a Slytherin and only a Slytherin" she said chuckling.

She shook her head at the memory with a small smile. She missed her parents dearly.

Vero raised a brow at Tess's smirk and smiled.

"Well, I was born in Germany and then I got entered into Hogwarts and mama allowed me to go. She dropped out when she was fourteen to be a gypsy in Germany. She changed her surname too." She added closing her eyes and sighing.

"So McCartneys are a family of purebloods hm?" She asked her eyes still closed as she crossed her legs on the concrete bench.

Tess was a little wary about her mentioning Germany. She never really felt comfortable with Germany every since the attack. Still she was very polite, so well it'd make her proud and smiled softly.

"Hm...pureblood? Oh yes of course" she said softly. "We can trace our family back from it's origins, it's fascinating, the family tree is extensive."

She felt uncomfortable asking her of her blood origins because she didn't want to push her, so she allowed a soft silence to occur.

"Well, I'm a half-blood. I hope you don't mind hanging out with even though I'm part blooded." She paused slightly to give Tess a thoughtful look. "I'm part German, part English, part Spanish, and as you know speak French." Vero added.

Up until she was eight she grew up German and then when they moved to English she had problems adjusting to the more peaceful life full of living in a Pub. She still loved her life as a gypsy and would always appreciate it but she wondered what would happen if she were to trace her blood origins back.

Tess felt something hit her and she frowned a bit. It was funny, how Vero somehow believed that she was prejudice, but in reality Vero was being the prejudicial one when she was stereotyping Tess. She didn't take it to heart and she shook her head.

She pushed her hair out of her face and tied her hair up because her bang was in the way. She felt a cold breeze but she felt it refreshing. She let out a small chuckle at how Vero would think she wouldn't want to hang out with you.

"I don't see how it matters" she replied. "My best friend is a Gryffindor, and more than that a muggleborn. She's great...blood makes no difference"

She didn't really meet her in the eye, not wanting to sound indignant because Vero was not to blame.

"I'm half English and half Spanish, my mother taught me French...I am fluent on all three languages as well."

Vero let out a sigh her chest relaxing.

"I'm so sorry for sounding a little prejudice." She mumbled smiling weakly. "It's just outside of my family I haven't really interacted with other people so I'm sorry." She bowed her head in shame of saying something with a little bias.

"How long have you known French?" Vero asked changing the subject.
