Lesson Four - First Years
The Doctor stood in the standing stones awaiting his class, twirling a walking stick he'd never been seen carrying ever before. It was made of a dark and heavy wood, most likely oak from the look of it alone. But what was curious was that the entire length of the wooden stick was engraved. Every inch, every centimeter and every millimeter of the dark wood was covered with the small valleys of engravings. They were, even to amateurs, runes.

Ella-May trudged down to the standing stones for her Ancient Runes class. She felt a little behind, as she had been overcome with sickness and was unable to attend her third lesson. She scratched her face, wondering if the Doctor already knew of that.
She reached the class area and saw the lehrer standing, waiting, with a peculiar looking staff. Upon closer inspection, Ella could see it was covered in strange symbols. Were they going to be using it in class today? She wondered...
"Hello, Lehrer," Ella greeted softly, putting her bag down beside one of the stones.

Annika paused before going out to join the professor and an other student for Ancient Runes. After the strange behavior (Sticking out his tongue) of the prof she was not sure just what to expect from him. The staff/stick he carried was intriguing though and she so much wanted to see what it would do. She decided to hang back a little and just watch as she still have a few minutes before she had to actually join them. Besides she had just received an owl post from home that she wanted to peek at first.
Slowly opening the post a small cameo fell into her lap. At first she wasn't sure what it was, then she recognized the face as that of her grossmutter Marilena. She gently picked it up by the delicate chain and placed it around her neck as she read the note that accompanied it.
"Annika my kider, mama has give you yet another sister, but what a surprise when a brother arrived too. They are all doing well and grossmutter is here to help while mama is recovering. We have named your sister-Bertha Elise and you brother-Josef Albert. Not worry any more my kinder, all is well in your home.
We miss you but are proud. Mama says remember what you learned from her and put it to good use.
Love Papa"
Tears in her eyes for the homesickness and joy blurred the scene as she smiled and almost floated to join the class.
