Lesson One - Third Years Empty Lesson One - Third Years

Post by Briony Romain Mon Apr 16, 2012 10:29 pm

Briony was getting ready for the new school year and was more than a little excited to see all the old faces again, and also, some of the new faces that she hoped to have in her class, the increase in German attacks, as well as the idea that they were now attacking everywhere as opposed to just large groups of wizards, was one that was frightening.

Hoping that students would know that now it was more important that ever to learn how to defend themselves properly, so, opening the door to her classroom, she stood behind her desk, placing a hand over her little bump, and smiling a little when she felt the baby kicking slightly.

Lesson One - Third Years Empty Re: Lesson One - Third Years

Haley walked happily to the Duelling classroom. She had missed this lesson. She had figured that she needed to drop some lessons, but she still wasn't sure which. This was not going to be one of them. She actually needed to talk to Briony, so when she walked into the classroom, she walked over to the woman with a smile.

She thought that Briony had put on some weight when she walked closer, and immediately pretended like she hadn't noticed. She then sighed.

"Good morning professor. Can I talk to you in your office after the lesson?" she asked softly.

Lesson One - Third Years Empty Re: Lesson One - Third Years

Entering the classroom, she noticed she was the second in. She smiled slightly at Headmistress Romain, and ignored the little bump knowing that it was no business of her acknowledging something that the Headmistress had not commented on.

She also felt that she needed to behave more, whatever that really meant considering that now she was the Headmistresses apprentice for dueling. She was excited to learn in the lesson, as well as learning how to defend herself.

Taking a seat she wondered what they were going to do, especially considering the fact that much of the attacks were committed on students and many did not know how to defend themselves.

Parker was watching his feet as he came into class. He knew how important this class was, especially with the attacks which he had a feeling would be occurring more often. It made him have a sinking feeling in his chest though. He didn't want to be part of a war...

He sighed as he took his seat near the back, setting his bag down. He leaned over, lifting his pant leg, to check the scar on his leg from the last attack. He ran his finger over it, still able to feel how it felt when it happened. He lowered the pant leg and rested his head down on the desk, waiting for class to start.

Airen entered the classroom in a good mood. He sat down in the front as always. He smiled up at the headmistress. He didn't fail to notice the bump on her stomach. He smiled to himself. He was glad the headmistress was expecting, but he wouldn't draw attention to it.

Taking out his parchment, as well as his quill and ink, he arranged them neatly on his desk.

"Salve (Hello), Professor," he greeted.

Lesson One - Third Years Empty Re: Lesson One - Third Years

Briony smirked lightly, it seemed as if there were less people taking duelling than she would have thought this year, but at least they had an even number for which to do practice spells on, and the spell that she had today was something that they would be needing to practice on themselves, well, more like there were several spells that they would be needing to partner up for.

"Well hello class, welcome back from your holiday, and I hope that it was fruitful, but now, it's time to get back to work, and today, we are going to be using all the spells we have learnt in the last year and this to have a duel." Briony smirked "Now before we begin, can anyone name some of the spells that we have learnt?"

Hoping that they would get them all, Briony waited for someone to answer.

Haley raised her hand quickly. "We've learned Serpensortia, Vipera Evanesca and Rictumsempra," she said.

Lesson One - Third Years Empty Re: Lesson One - Third Years

Post by Victoria Rossmund Thu Apr 19, 2012 3:33 pm

Victoria walked into class, knowing she was late. She wasn't going to try to hide this year. She didn't act all high and mighty, but acting frightened of loosing a few points wasn't going to get her anywhere.

She took a seat next to Tess and smiled. She was excited to learn new spells, but questions had been nagging at her. Over the summer she had made a new friend who had really got her thinking. What was this war even about? No one had told her in the two years she'd been here. She still wasn't even sure who to ask. Probably a professor, but she wasn't sure who to start with. Maybe the headmistress.

Briony nodded her head at what Haley said, they had indeed learnt those spells but they had also learnt another and she wondered if she had forgotten or was leaving it out deliberately for someone else to offer it up, hearing the door open she frowned lightly when she saw one of her students come in late;

"Correct Haley, 5 points to Hufflepuff, and now Victoria, can you tell me the spell that we learnt that has not been mentioned?"

Victoria straightened her back, full knowing that she deserved the question for being late. She wasn't proud of her tardiness, but was more than willing to try to make up for it.

"The last spell we learned last year was Finite Incantatem. Used for stopping all spells except for the Unforgivable Curses."

She let out a hesitant breath. Victoria didn't like feeling like she had let down the Headmistress, but had been glad she'd remembered the spell. In truth, she had been keeping a journal of all the spells, charms, and potions that they had learned since their first year. She didn't want to forget a thing!

Briony nodded her head with a small smirk on her lips, it was good that they had managed to remember all of the spells, although they had not been able to have a duel today, they were going to be able to have one in the extra session that Briony was going to hold this year, that was expressly for people who wanted to practice their spell casting in a more competitive environment.

"Well done Victoria, 5 points to Gryffindor, now, all these spells are what you are going to be able to practice in a club I am thinking of holding, to make sure that you practice all the spells you've learnt regularly, so, if you are interested in attending, please write your name on this list. Class dismissed."

Briony placed the list at the front of the room, and waited for anyone to sign it.

Haley quickly signed the list Briony dealt out, wanting to be a part of whatever it was. She would only want to get better in this class, and falling behind was not an option. Not with her enemy.

Tess forced herself not to pout, but seems that she could not attain any points for her house. Either way, hearing Headmistress Romain talk about a club, she immediately looked at the paper curiously. She picked up the quill and immediately signed the paper.

Taking the time to put away her things, Victoria joined the line for signing up. She wasn't quite sure how good she would be at actual combat, but figured this was a safe environment to learn it in. Plus, who better to be around if things got bad than a bunch of wizards and witches in a school with an infirmary.

She couldn't help but grin at her cynical thoughts. When it came her turn she quickly signed the sheet and followed Tess out of class, excited for the weekend.
