Lesson One - Second Years Empty Lesson One - Second Years

Post by Raven 'The Sweeney' Drake Tue Apr 17, 2012 2:03 am

Raven had a holiday that could only be described as eventful, after all she had found out that she had children at the closing of the school year last year, and she felt as if she was going to be ready to try and take them on as her own, and move them in with her by the end of this term.

Konig having pointed out, the change might have been too much the first time around. So, now she was getting ready to accept her new role, so her potion making had been put on hold.

Opening the door to her classroom, Raven sat on her desk, crosslegged and she tilted her head, looking at the smashed watch that she was holding in her hand, it was something that she couldnt bare to get rid of regardless of the pain it associated to her.

Telling Emmi good-bye Annika kissed her head and grabbed her satchel. she was so glad to be back to school. her visit home had been fun, but with the twins the annual trip into Trier for the Bread and Circuses holiday wasn't happening, and the amount of noise and confusion had just been too much after the independence of school. As she walked into class Annika noticed that she and Alex were the first ones there. She nodded at the professor and smiled at Alex, but after last year she almost was afraid to even say hello. Hoping that this year would be better than before she took her seat and looked over the text book her papa had gotten for her.

Lesson One - Second Years Empty Re: Lesson One - Second Years

Post by Dimitrius Skaia Wed Apr 18, 2012 1:07 pm

Dimitrius tightened his shoulder bag as he walked into the Potions classroom. Giving the Professor a quick nod of his head, he made his way into the room. He took a seat near the back, but close enough that he'd still be able to see all that went on in the classroom. He crossed his arms, wondering what they were going to be doing today.

He smiled to himself at the thought of what potions they might do. After all, he was a second year now, so didn't that mean harder potions and more ingredients? He sure hoped so.

Raven saw that there was most of her students still there and she grinned, closing the door to her office with a loud crash, she enjoyed teaching these people, after all they were nice, most of them, and some students were ven good for making potions not just good for scaring.

"Today we are going to be discussing the potion used to make photographs animated, a photograph potion." she said quietly, moving to sit on her desk.

Taking out three photographs, she placed them in front of each student, they were of the Highmaster.

"Name me an ingredient in one of these potions."

(OOC: There are no actual canon ingredients so just make some up Smile )

Alex smiled inwardly and she raised her hand Alex thought potions was one of her best subjects she sighed.

" One of the ingredents is, Peacock Feathers?" Alex said a little unsure she hoped she got it right, but she had that doubt in the back of her head telling her she had gotten it wrong.

"Miss would there be some gillyweed? I know that helps with breathing underwater and pictures do seem to be under a film." annika said before she really had time to think about what was coming out of her mouth.
"Now I've done it", she thought to herself as she hid her face behind her book. "Why did I even open my mouth. You'd think I'd learn after last term. oh, well, just hope for the best they say."
Looking around Annika hoped someone else would say something so she didn't feel so stupid. glancing up at the professor she started panicking/

Katrina knew she was late for potions because the door was already shut, but she pushed it open and walked into the classroom and slipped into a seat in the back.

looking in front of her she saw that Sweeney was handing out photographs and the only thing that Kat could think of was an animation potion. But she would sit back and be quiet and wait for Sweeney's wrath that was sure to come.

Raven shook her head when all the students gave incorrect answers, they had however managed to give her some for a brand of potion that they were not going to be brewing today, as there were various types, so she managed to give them some sort of reward in her mind;

"Although those answers are incorrect for the type of potion we will be brewing today, they are included in other variations of photograph potions, 3 points each Brant, 10 points from Risiko house for your tardiness."

Tapping her wand on the board, the instructions appeared;

'Ingredients:

1. Lacewing Flies (5)
2. Flobberworms (3)
3. Apple Grass (2 strands)
4. Unicorn Hair (1 strand)

Method:

1. Add a base potion to a medium heated cauldron#
2. Chop the three flobberowmrs finely and add to the base potion all at once, stir the potion 5 times clockwise
3. Add the strands of apple grass one at a time, wait until the potion turns a green colour. Make sure the potion is a LIGHT green, otherwise you have done something incorrect.
4. After this add the unicorn hair and stir the potion once counter clockwise
5. Finally add in the five lacewing flies and take the potion off the heat.

WAIT until the potion is cool before adding two drops of it to your photograph.'

"You may begin brewing your potions, the ingredients are in the cupboard where they were last year."

Alex nodded and walked toward the cupboard she grabbed all the ingredents and she added the base potion and she turned it to medium heat, Alex than grabbed the flobberworms and chopped them up finely, Alex added them to the base potion.

Alex stirred the potion five times clockwise than she grabbed the apple strands and she placed them in one at a time than she waited for the potion to turn a light green and when it did she grabbed the unicorn hair and she put it in the potion and she stirred the potion once counterclockwise.

Alex finally grabbed the lacewing flies and she added five of them into the potion, Alex than turned the heat off and waited for the potion to cool, she looked at it and it looked cool she touched the side of the cauldron and it was cool, she than added two drops onto the photo and the potion had seemed to work since the photo was animated she blinked and swallowed a gulp, she hoped it had worked.

Annika quickly wrote the instructions on a piece of parchment and went to the cupboards and gathered her ingredients. She really wanted to get this one right this time. Sh was very careful to cut cleanly, measure and stir as she added the items in the order listed. When it was finally done she waited nervously for it to cool down. She noticed that Alex seemed to be finished with hers and took a peek from the corner of her eyes to see if it would work. Then with mental fingers crossed she added the two drops to the photo in front of her. As she watched she saw to her relief a slight movement in the center of the photo, that seemd to spread. But then the movement was so slight she was afraid she had just imagined it. "Please work, I need to get something right to please Oma, Papa and Mama today."

Raven looked over the classes work and she found herself in a good moode with the two Geschick members of the class, she almost smiled, before she was consumed by anger at the rest of the class for not even attempting to make the potion, frowning she stalked her way back over to the desk and she steepled her fingers together, calmly looking over the students;

"Well there are two people here that are recieving ten points each for their work, the rest of you, should be ashamed, and you will make this potion at home, out of class, and bring it to me next lesson. Understood?" she said harshly "Class dismissed."

Nearly giggling because she had finished a potion successfully, and had even earned points for her house, Annika cheerfully gathered up her things. She smiled at Alex and the professor (nervously though) and made her way out into the hall and the then to the grounds where she could feel the fresh air and see the sky. It was a wonderful feeling to be able to please the Sweeney, it had seemed almost impossible last term. maybe she would do well in school after all.
