First Years: First Lesson Empty First Years: First Lesson

Post by Angel Valentine Wed Feb 15, 2012 11:12 am

Another year another new batch of young bright minds entering her classroom. She was giddy to say the least, because while students were stressful and rowdy most of the time, she viewed some students as bright minds ready to see the powers of Potions.

She moved the seats around to form four seating places. One area the very left were for Slytherin, the next Ravenclaw, which was one of the houses that wasn't too afraid nor to competitive towards Slytherins. After that were the Hufflepuffs, and lastly on her very right were the Gryffindors.

She smiled and unlocked the doors of her classroom, allowing herself to enjoy the excitement of new students entering. Sitting on her chair ,she waited to see just what seats would be filled up.

He had lost Xander somewhere in the busy grand hallway. He didn't mind, he didn't want to seem like a needy kid. So he walked into the Potions classroom, after all it was already in the dungeons.

He looked around and found his seat as far away from the front as possible. He placed his books down and sat there waiting for other's to come.

The Professor wasn't a sight for sore eyes do say the least, she was pretty.

'It might be easier for me to pay attention I guess' he thought.

But in reality, Potions was a subject that interested him. So he waited hoping those other students would hurry.

Tessa manged to find the classroom on her own. She was really glad that Professor Slytherin gave her that spell to use. But she just stood there because she had no idea where to sit. This was one reason she hated to be blind.

But she guess that the Professor was told about her and she probley had something special for her that she could do.

Alcyone walked with her head low and her eyes fixated on the ground. Her bag dug into a scar that was on her right shoulder, but she couldn't carry it on her left. Her left was far too weak, and it ached more than the right, so she ignored the pain. It wasn't like she wasn't accustomed to the feeling of pain, though this did not mean that she had developed an immunity towards it. She still despised pain.

She entered the classroom, and not in a sociable mood - not much of a surprise - she moved towards the back corner, where it was dark due to the light being cast more towards the front. Alcyone liked the dark, you could blend into it and fail to be noticed within it. The darkness welcomed her, and she gladly took her seat. With her bag settled at her feet, she looked up and awaited instruction from the teacher with a bored expression.

Tessa walked over to a seat. She had no idea where she was supposed to sit, but she figured that someone would tell her. And maybe help her move. Getting around was much easier that Tessa thought. She thought she would be trip and falling flat on her face.

Damien was completly ready for his next class it was potions and he was so glad it was his favorite class. Walking into the class he pratically ran into Tessa.

"I just can't get away from you can I?" Looking at her she seemed that she was lost.

"Aww can't little Tessy find her seat. Here let me help you." Damien grabed her arm and lead her over to where the Gryfindorks were supposed to be.

"Here you go..Now be a good little girl and try not to blow up anything." He whispered in her ear.

Tessa rolled her eyes at Damien." You better watch what you say to me Daimen. Cause you may never know when I will do something bad."

She then grinned at the thought. " Aww well I haven't blown anything up in here, don't you trust me."

She looked at the students entering and she could not help but think that these students were very...how do Muggles say it? Down in the dumps? Yes that was probably it.

Angel saw that there was one student and seeing the file, she knew it was Miss Grey. She waited for the young Slytherin boy to sit down, and she walked towards the girl.

"Hello, I am Professor Valentine" she whispered to her not wanting to draw attention. "If you don't mind, I will put a small charm on you a Glimpsing Charm. The Glimpsing Charm is an incantation that allows you to see what is otherwise impaired to see a momentary images of your surroundings. I've tweaked it a little to aid you to see it for an hour which will be the length of this classroom."

Damien was about to answer her until he saw the Professor heading her way over to Tessa so he thought he would head over to where the Slytherins were suppose to sit. He sat down next to this boy he could not place.

"Damien is the name...and you?" Damien just said not really listening to whether he answered him or not.

He looked around the room and noticed that Alcyone was seated in the back of them he continued to look at her hoping she will notice him instead of her desk. He decided that he would turn his chair around so he could watch her.

Xander sauntered into what he knew would be his favorite class. He could smell the dust and other odors that accompanied potion making.

Seeing a few girls he didn't know, he spotted Luke and another Slytherin near the back. Taking the seat on the other side of him, Xander grabbed his now worn book from his bag and propped his legs onto the desk to read.

Luke seemed to be taking to the other boy, so he patiently waited his turn to introduce himself.

Biting her lip, Jaycie slipped into the classroom hoping to go unnoticed. She saw the desks were grouped up, and sat herself down in the Hufflepuff section. She was the only Hufflepuff there, she noticed. Pulling out her bag, she retrieved her books and equipment, settling it on her desk. Bored, she decided wand twirling would be a little fun.

Jaycie twisted her wand around in her fingers, right up until she accidentally dropped it onto the floor. It clattered and rolled in the direction of Slytherin table, making one heck of a ruckus as it did so. She stared at it; people were starting to look at her. Not good.

Damien saw another boy walk up to them and the kid sat down. This kid Luke seemed like he was spacing so Damien thought he would let the new kid join the conversation..

"Hey..I am Damien Greene, who are you". Damien knew it sounded rude but he was a Slytherin and that was how it was.

Xander grinned lazily. Finally, someone he could deal with!

"Xander Clarke. And you are?"

This kid reminded him of every other pure blood that he had ever met. He guessed it was a good thing to be sorted with someone with a similar background. Saved a lot of energy arguing.

Luke seemed to be clamming up at the moment, so he decided to let him be.

He was surprised to see this guy simply sit beside him, but he didn't say much just nodded.

"Luke" he said after a while.

He noticed that people were talking around him, no real surprise. Xander was the real talker, not him, he'd rather be left alone. He wasn't used to so much interaction.

Now this was the the type of guy he could get used too short and simple just the way he like them.

He knew this was the type of guy not to carry on a conversation with so he left it up to the guy if he wanted to chat.

Now the other guy he could get used to.

"Well I will remind you again..Its Damien Greene"

Jaycie's wand rolled to a stop underneath one of the Slytherin chairs. Dammit! How on earth could it roll THAT far? She screamed internally, knowing she'd have to get up and ask one of them to get it for her.

Swallowing hard, Jaycie rose to her feet and approached the table, heart leaping into her throat. "Uh, excuse me?" she said, voice barely heard. She tried again, this time making her voice louder so they could hear her. "Ex-excuse me... could one of you possibly get my wand from under the table for me?"

There we go. Now they could hear her. She really wanted to run and hide and get her wand later, but she forced herself to stay. Which was an accomplishment, for her, anyway. Jaycie's palms clammed up with nervousness as she waited for someone to answer her.

Post by Guest Fri Feb 17, 2012 10:44 pm

Alcyone entered with her face - per usual - void of any human emotion. She regarded the classroom with her grey/blue eyes, a frown flickering momentarily across her features as she studied it. She saw Damien, and was slightly pleased to see he was in Slytherin.

At least she knew one person. Not that Alcyone minded, the silence and the loneliness was a friend to her.

She saw that a Hufflepuff girl looked most un-comfortable over the fact that her wand had rolled under the Slytherin boys chairs, and with the smallest smirk she could manage, she strode over to the boys and retrieved Jaycie's wand. She handed it to the girl without a word, and then took her seat elsewhere.

Jaycie watched as a new Slytherin girl boldly retrieved her wand for her from under the boy's seats. "Th-thank you," she said, eyes wide at the pluck of this girl. The girl never said a word though, and sat at her own seat. Jaycie took that as not-meant hint and returned to her own seat, blinking a few times. She'd never met someone with so much nerve before.

Looking over at her, Jay seemed to deduce that the girl must be nice enough - why else would she have gotten her wand for her without being asked?

Tessa could tell that she was the only gryffindor. But she was used to that in her other classes. At this point, she couldn't tell if she liked this class or not. She hated how Damien was in most all of her classes. He only drove her up the wall mad. But she knew that she couldn't let him know any of that. She was trying to enjoy that quiet before class would begin.

Damien had heard something rolling on the floor and he was just about to see what it was when a girl walked up and asked him to get her wand. Just as he was about to make some snide comment about crawling on the floor to get it herself Alcyone bent over picked it up and handed it to the girl and then went back to her seat without so much as a hello.

Damien got up out of his seat and went back to Alcyone.

"Hey, don't I at least rate a hello." He said to Alcyone

Clearing her throat she decided that enough students had entered.

"Okay students, today we will be making the Wiggenweld Potion"

Magically, on the board, the Potion title appeared.

"You will be working individually today. So please enough chatter and concentrate on your potion."

She chose this potion specifically because she wanted to see just where these students were and if they could follow directions.

One pint of Horklump juice
2 drops of Flobberworm Mucus
7 Chizpurfle fangs
Billywig sting slime
A sprig of mint
Boom Berry juice
One stewed Mandrake
Drops of Honeywater
(Since it takes time, we will divide this potion into two lessons. After this point please pack your things, place your name on the cauldron and place it under your desk)

Sloth brain Mucus
Moondew drops
Powdered root of asphodel
Shredded dittany
Wiggentree bark
Moly petals
Salamander blood
10 Lionfish spines
Unicorn horn
Wolfsbane

"Even though we are dividing it into two lessons, but please pick up these ingredients and place them under your desk. Now begins!"

Post by Jaycie Simple Sun Feb 19, 2012 2:19 pm

Jaycie bent her head down and wrote down the ingredients. She concentrated on what she was writing so it would sink in and she would remember it. She jotted down the last ingredient and rose from her seat. Pulling out the cauldron, she made her way over to the store cupboard. It took her a few trips to get everything she needed, but eventually Jaycie had everything set up neatly, measured and ready to go.

Glancing back up at the recipe, Jay noticed there weren't any proper instructions. With the amount of ingredients, it looked to be a fairly complicated potion. She didn't know where she was supposed to start.

Damien knew about this potion very well. Potions was one of his favorite classes, he kept glancing over at Tessa to see how she was handling the class. He really wanted to go over and help her, but he didn't want to get in trouble. He wondered if the Professor Slytherin had any ideas on how to help her through potions.

Damien had decided at this point anything between Alcyone and him would never happen, he couldn't even get the girl to talk to him at the moment. It would have been nice. He noticed she was still rubbing her wrist every now and then, so he wondered if she was still using that cream he gave her.

It was a very long list of ingredients so he thought he better get to collecting the list and get is table set up to brew the potion.

Damien got the first part of the list:

One pint of Horklump juice
2 drops of Flobberworm Mucus
7 Chizpurfle fangs
Billywig sting slime
A sprig of mint
Boom Berry juice
One stewed Mandrake
Drops of Honeywater.

After this part he placed all of these ingredients into his cauldron and placed his name on the cauldron and placed it under the desk. Next he went to get the remaining ingredients and neatly placed the rest of the things by his cauldron.
