Lesson One - Third Years Empty Lesson One - Third Years

Post by Raven 'The Sweeney' Drake Tue Apr 17, 2012 2:03 am

Raven had a holiday that could only be described as eventful, after all she had found out that she had children at the closing of the school year last year, and she felt as if she was going to be ready to try and take them on as her own, and move them in with her by the end of this term.

Konig having pointed out, the change might have been too much the first time around. So, now she was getting ready to accept her new role, so her potion making had been put on hold.

Opening the door to her classroom, Raven sat on her desk, crosslegged and she tilted her head, looking at the smashed watch that she was holding in her hand, it was something that she couldnt bare to get rid of regardless of the pain it associated to her.

Luka had opted for Caity instead of Freddie today, much to the daggers protest. Luka frowned down at Freddie as he slid Caity into her place on his belt and crossed his arms. "Don't give me that look, I always take you everywhere." He snapped to the dagger, before he haughtily turned on his heel and left the Risiko common room. The dungeons were dark and cold, just the way Luka liked it.

It made him hesitant to walk up to the first floor, but he forced himself to do so - telling himself that he'd be at potions soon and everything would be just fine. He beamed as he entered the classroom and waved to his mother in an overly happy gesture.

He frowned as he saw her pained expression and her eyes were fixed on a smashed watch in her hand. He walked to the front of the classroom, dumped his bag on the desk there and then hesitantly walked over to his mother. "What is it?" He asked in a concerned tone that was only ever heard when associated with Keaira - and now his mother.

Terry headed on his way to potions class, he actually really enjoyed this class but he couldn't explain it though.

Walking into the classroom he had discovered the Keaira's brother was already there, but Keaira was not yet. He walked up to a front table and got his things out and ready for the class to start.

He noticed that Luka was up talking to Sweeney so he just sat in his chair doing his own thing.

Raven snapped out of it and moved the watch away from the front of her face, she placed it on the table and looked at her son with a small ghost of a smile on her lips, a look that she did not wear often, and it looked almost out of practice on her features, but there it was never the less.

"Nothing, just...ticking." she said, gesturing to the cracked watch, that in fact no longer ticked "Later." she said with a nod, before coming to the front of the classroom to teach the class.

Waving her wand, Raven conjured two gas masks and placed them in front of the two students, "What will we be making today that might need you to use these?" she asked.

Lesson One - Third Years Empty Re: Lesson One - Third Years

Terry found it quit interesting watching Sweeney interact with her son, and he had yet to see her interact with Keaira. It had found it interesting when she told him that Sweeney was her mother. But then besides her own kids Terry was probably the only other student that wasn't bother by her.

When she threw the gas mask down on the table Terry wondered what potion would be bad enough to require one of these.

Melissa knew being late for Potions was not a good thing, Sweeney always went out of her way to get her to do something, drink a potion or anything. But Melissa loved potions so she was going in spite of the fact that she was late.

Walking into class of course she knew it had already started so she picked a spot behind Terry. Looking at Terry's desk she noticed a gas mask and knew she was going to need one too this is going to be fun.

"Sweeney, Sorry I am late, but may I have a gas mask too." The way Melissa was feeling she probably would not care if it killed her.

Keaira walked into the Potions classroom with a completely dead face, lack of all human emotions. She wasn't feeling too well. She didn't know what it was, she just knew it bothered her. And it bothered her even more as she didn't know what it was. She clenched her teeth and saw Melissa and Terry sitting there. She dumped her bag next to Terry, gave them both a dead wave and then walked up to the desk. She had noticed the gasmasks, and how Melissa didn't have one either.

"Sorry mother, for being late. Do you have two more gasmasks, I can give it to Melissa," she said monotonously.

She looked at Luca and gave him one of her wicked smirks, preserved mostly for him or when a battle was nearing. Normally she would've sat down next to him, but she was in a Terry-mood today.

Terry realized that Keaira had sat down next to him and when he looked over he could tell she was in one of those moods so he knew it best not to say anything unless she talked to him first.

Terry did also noticed after Keaira commented about Melissa so he turned and noticed her there and gave a nod and went back to the Lehrer.

Lesson One - Third Years Empty Re: Lesson One - Third Years

Raven cocked an eyebrow when nobody seemed to have an answer as to what potion it could be, humming a little to herself Raven watched the door open and two students come in, to her dissappointment her daughter was among one of the students that were late to the lesson, although what she had planned to do to the late students was now wavering slightly, Raven decided that she should treat her daughter as above any other members of the class.

"No, you two may not have gas masks, you're late. So you must face the consequences of brewing the potion without the needed masks, but don't worry, it will not do you any harm, perhaps if you work in pairs your partner will even allow you to stay away from the cauldron and prepare the ingredients." she scowled lightly.

Tapping the board, the ingredients appeared there;

2 Runespoor Eggs
3 drops of Asp Venom
2 Porcupine Quills
2 teaspoons of powered aconite
1 frogs brain

Instructions;

1. Finely chop the runespoor eggs, make sure that they are diced into centimetre measurements or there about, add them to a base potion that you should have brought from home.
2. Place this on heat, making sure it is of a medium temperature.
3. Add the porcupine quills one at a time, making sure to rotate the potion as you do so, the potion should begin to give off some mild fumes, this is normal.
4. Make sure that you mash the frogs brain in the pestle and mortar, add this to the potion and wait until it turns a green colour.
5. Add the drops of asps venom all at once, making sure that the potion gives off the desired hiss afterwards, do not proceed until this has happened.
6. Turn down the heat of the potion and then add the teaspoons of powdered aconite, take off the heat and put into a bottle.

The fumes are what the gas masks are needed for, please ensure you have these on when step two is completed.

"Today we will be making Garotting Gas. It will knock you out if you breathe any in, so be sure that around step three people who are late take care not to breathe anything in. Begin."

Terry leaned over to Keaira and told her he was sorry and that he would have no trouble brewing the potion as long as she cut up the ingredients.

Terry was going to say that he couldn't believe that Sweeney would do that but that was not true, he knew better, So he went and got everything ready to go.

He let Keaira take care of all the ingredients and he mixed it up following the proper procedure and we he was done he bottled up the potion and handed it to Sweeney.

"There you go Sweeney." Terry thought Keaira and him did a fine job.
