Lesson Three - Third Years Empty Lesson Three - Third Years

Post by Briony Romain Mon May 14, 2012 6:23 pm

Briony was not in a very good mood at the moment. She had spent all night awake while Raven was screaming at the top of her lungs, it was not a very exciting experience so far, being a parent and Briony only hoped it would get better as she grew up.

Sighing a little she placed her head in her hands and looked at the empty classroom, hopefully it would not be empty for long as she waited for the students to fill it.

On the board she wrote what they would be doing for lessons today:

Pyxis walked through the halls aimlessly for hours before she realised that it was time for her lesson and quickly returned to the common room. Once there, she collected her bag and continued along to her lesson, where upon arrival she took a seat at the back and waited for the lesson to begin.

Airen walked into the classroom. He felt particularly happy today, but he really couldn't figure out why. He moved to his normal seat at the front. Seeing the headmistress with her head in her hands, he decided not to tick her off.

"Salute, Profesore, (Hello, Professor)" he said in his Italian accent.

Entering the classroom, she smiled towards the Headmistress. She noticed her darkened expression and it dimmed a bit, she murmured an unintelligible congratulations not wanting to rile her up.

She sat down quietly on her usual seat and nodded towards the others as a greeting.

Briony sighed and looked up from where she was sitting, after all now it was about time to get the classes started, seeing as there were some people there now to actually teach. Placing a strained smile upon her lips, Briony stood up and came to rest on the front of her desk.

"Hello again class, now, I am very very tired because of our new little arrival, so I am likely to snap at you. Apologies in advance." she said with a wry smile.

"Today we are going to be learning the spell 'Petrificus Totalus' can anyone tell me what this spell does to the person it is cast on?"

Pyxis eagerly rose her hand in answer to the question, a smile still on her face at Professor Romain's previous words. She'd been quite excited that the professor was having a baby despite she had absolutely nothing to do with her other than the fact that she was her headmistress and teacher, but she still thought the prospect of new life exciting.

"Petrificus Totalus freezes the person that it is cast on, however the spell is temporary."

This was his second class with the headmaster. And again, despite his rush to get here; he was late for Duelling class. Humphrey took a seat at the back of the class and wondered if he would get a detention. Pxyis was answering a question the professor had asked. He began taking notes. Petrificus Totalus feezes a person temporarily, he wrote down. Now that sounded like a very useful spell.

Victoria was having more trouble getting to classes on the upper levels of the castle. The higher she was, the harder it was to escape the sun's rays.

She followed Humphrey into the classroom and quickly took a seat next to Tess. As she listened to Pyxis' answer, she quickly grabbed her book and flipped to the corresponding page to follow along.

Post by Parker Emery Thu May 17, 2012 12:41 pm

Parker cursed to himself as he quickly was trying to make his way to class. Why did it have to be the classes with the strictest professors to which he was always late to. The class rooms were always so spread out and far from each other that he still miscalculated how long it would take to get places.

He lowered his eyes as he made his way to his seat, immeadiatly going to sit next to Pyxis, despite the fact they'd not talked properly in a while. He set his bag on the desk.

Post by Haley Vilde Smith Fri May 18, 2012 10:00 pm

Haley shouldn't be late for this class. She knew that. As if the headmistress didn't have enough problems already. She saw Parker's back going into the classroom and she quickly followed, hoping Romain wouldn't be too mad at her. She knew there was a slim possibility, but at least she wasn't alone in being late.

Haley then walked over to the front, thinking she might as well sit down next to Airen. So she did so and looked apologetically at the professor before getting her books and took down notes on petrificus totalus, having heard what Pyxis had said as she walked into the class.

Briony nodded at Pyxis when she rose to answer the question, although she had not been in lessons that much recently, she knew that she would have a reason, and she would have simply missed all the spells that they had learnt.

"Well done Pyxis, 10 points to Slytherin." she gave her a light smile before looking at the trail of late students and she flashed her eyes a little bit at some of them.

So surprised was she at Haley's lateness she blinked at her for a moment before continuing; "Ten points from Gryffindor, Ten points from Slytherin and Ten points from Hufflepuff for your tardiness, Victoria you are excused you told me you would be late."

Gesturing to the front of the classroom four mats appeared there and Briony pointed at them;

"Everyone who was late, stand in front of a mat, everyone who was here on time will now practice the spell on you, remember to pronounce the incantation clearly when you cast students."

Haley sighed. Ten points... That was not good. She then rose to her feet instantly and walked over to the mat, knowing she wouldn't be able to move in a moment. She prepared to fall to the floor, and she prepared for the pain she'd feel. But she was defiant and merely looked around the classroom with absolutely no expression on her face. Cold. Empty. It was easy.

Lesson Three - Third Years Empty Re: Lesson Three - Third Years

Post by Humphrey Williams Sat May 19, 2012 12:14 am

Humphrey followed Haley up to the front of the classroom, standing on the mat next to her. He looked at her, and smiled wryly. This would not be pleasant, such an embarrassing way to start a class. As he stood there, he braced himself for the body bind curse to hit him. First lesson back, and he had lost ten points already. What a way to start.

Lesson Three - Third Years Empty Re: Lesson Three - Third Years

Post by Victoria Rossmund Sat May 19, 2012 1:24 pm

Victoria sighed in relief that the Headmistress understood. She made a mental note to leave earlier next lesson to arrive on time. She didn't want to let this new life stop her from doing what she wanted.

Following the others, she stood on a mat. She could feel the sun through the windows falling on the shoulders of her cloak. Squeezing her right hand to secure her ring in place, she could see the shadows moving around her grow thicker. She wondered how well the others could see them, but chose safety over secrecy.

As she looked at the rest of the class, she locked eyes with Tess, hoping she would be the one to cast on her. She trusted her, and felt better about being on the receiving end of her spells.

Tess feeling Victoria's eyes on her nodded as if answering her question. She knew that Victoria trusted her, and in return she trusted Victoria. She trusted her even now as she saw how different she was because of her transformation.

Seeing that she was ready, Tess took out her wand and smiled reassuringly  before sending the spell her way.

"Petrificus Totalus!"

Post by Airen Auditoren Mon May 21, 2012 3:00 pm

Airen decided to go up and perform the charm. He passed by Humphrey, not wanting to let his still healing grudge again him be reopened. It wasn't that he wouldn't or couldn't forgive him for the past. It was just taking awhile.

Walking up to Haley, they had talked in brief morning greetings, but they didn't know each other that well. He thought that since she knew that he was a gentleman, that she would feel less humiliated if he did the spell. He gave her a short nod of respect. He took out his wand and aimed it at her. He mouth a quick 'sorry' and said the spell.

"Petrificus Totalus," he said. The spell hit its mark.

Lesson Three - Third Years Empty Re: Lesson Three - Third Years

Post by Victoria Rossmund Mon May 21, 2012 4:24 pm

Victoria was surprised by the initial jolt of power. She packs a punch! She was able to stay upright for a few seconds, surprised that she was able to still look around, before toppling backwards.

That's gonna hurt. She landed flat on her back and groaned inwardly. She started wishing for those pillows that some of the other professors used.

Waiting for the spell to end, she closed her eyes and let herself be engulfed by the strange sensation of being bound magically.

Post by Briony Romain Mon May 21, 2012 6:19 pm

Briony watched as some of her students managed to complete the spell and she nodded her head, it was good that they had actually made the effort to get up out of their seats and try the activity however bad they may feel casting spells upon their friends.

"Well done Tess and Airen, 10 points each. Now class is dismissed and I will see you all next lesson...on time please." she said pointedly.

Walking over to those who had the spell cast upon them Briony performed the counter, and they were now able to get up and leave her classroom with ease/

Tess nodded and immediately ran towards Victoria. She helped her up and looked a bit like a puppy hoping she'd understand she didn't realize that the spell would hurt her.

"Merlin, I should have made a cushion or something" she muttered. "Come on, let's go. I'll carry your bag"
