Lesson Three - First Years Empty Lesson Three - First Years

Post by Richard Romain Tue May 15, 2012 2:55 am

Richard yawned a little as he sat down on the edge of his desk to wait for his class. Each table had a small collection of matches on them. Six matches for each student, no more and no less. With these six matches, Richard was going to teach them the next most important stage of transfiguration.

Lesson Three - First Years Empty Re: Lesson Three - First Years

Carly walked into the classroom in a bit of a daydream, she had lost her favourite bracelet and was trying to think were to look for it. Looking around she realised she was the first one there, which surprised her, she guessed she was getting better at timing after all.

Taking her seat in the middle of the class next to a window, she smiled at the Professor, then saw the matches laid out on her desk. Wondering what they were doing today, she sat and waited for the class to begin.

Lesson Three - First Years Empty Re: Lesson Three - First Years

Senium walked into class, she had returned to school late as she had been working on one of her projects with her Grandpapa, as there was no denying the fact that she was getting much much worse in terms of condition, she tried however to make sure when she was in school she at least didn't walk like a robot.

Smiling lightly at the her Master she sat down and got out her things, she had spaced out a little last lesson, but she was determined to make sure she would win her house points this time. Senium just hoped that Master Richard wouldn't ask to speak to her after class about her condition, which she was sure he would be able to tell.

Lesson Three - First Years Empty Re: Lesson Three - First Years

Post by Richard Romain Sun May 20, 2012 12:17 am

Richard looked out over his class a few more times as they all settled into their places. Clapping his hands once, with a wandless amplification charm to make the sound louder, Richard stood in front of his class,

"In the last few lessons you have been working on non-organic transfiguration. Non-organic to non-organic and so on." he paused before gesturing to six matches on his desk, "That ends today. Today you will be learning non-organic to organic. And living."

He pointed his wand at the small pile of wooden matches on his desk,

"Botain." he declared loudly so that all of his students could hear him. The six matches began to merge together, as if liquid, before they arranged themselves into the shape of a slowly twitching stick insect. He picked up the small creature and it scurried around in the palm of his hand, "You shall turn your matches into a stick insect with that incantation."

He closed his hand, as if to squash the bug, but before he had even half closed his fist it had returned to being matches, which dropped onto his desk ready to be used again. Richard turned back to his class,

"The wand movements are simple." he instructed them firmly, "One clockwise turn and then a simple flick downwards. You must speak the incantation clearly and firmly. Why? Because it is very similar to this spell."

He pointed his wand at the matches,

"Butain." he said firmly. The matches glowed white for a second before popping into pieces of confetti, "Incorrect... Boo-Tain. Correct... Boe-Tain. You may begin."

Lesson Three - First Years Empty Re: Lesson Three - First Years

Carly jumped and nearly fell out of her seat when she heard the professors clap. At first she thought it was someone behind her, but the she realised he must have used some sort of magnification spell.

She watched intently while he performed the spell, excited to try and transfigure her own stick insect. At ne point she thought he meant to squish the bug, and she winced, no one liked bug corpses. Then she realised he had simply turn the insect back into matches.

Carly pronounced the spell carefully, trying hard not to get it mixed up (although personally she thought making matches explode into confetti was more exciting). It took her a lot of tries, but finally she managed to turn the matches into a stick insect, (before she had just managed a normal stick) happy with her progress, Carly pracised turn the matchs back into the stick insect a few more times. Then she got a bit bored and just let the insect scurry over her desk, wondering if she could keep it, it did look rather cool.

Senium smiled at her Master and she tried to think about doing the spell the proper way, normally she just thought of what she wanted to change and what she wanted it to change to and it would just do it automatically, she didn't need the incantation.

However deciding to practice the wand movement of one clockwise turn and then a simple flick downwards, she made sure she had learnt it before trying out the incantation with it.

Pointing her wand at the matches, she visualised the change in state from matches to a stick insect, and while she was doing that, cast the spell with a confident tone;

"Boetain."

Opening her eyes she watched as the same liquid movement occured to the matches and it turned into an insect in front of her eyes. Smiling happily she let the insect crawl up her arms.
