DADA third lesson, third years (Obscuro)
Lucia walked into the classroom, feeling both exhausted and happy. She was starting to notice the effect of having four jobs at once, but she could handle it. She knew she could. She loved doing what she did, and she would continue doing so. She walked over to her desk and sat down, waving her wand at the blackboard, the chalk writing the word 'Obscuro'. She looked at the students who had gathered.
"All right class. We will begin the lesson immediately. Firstly, can anyone tell me what the spell Obscuro does?" Lucia asked them all.
(OOC: New MO: I start the lesson instantly and the next time I post, the students coming in after, will be regarded as late)

Airen entered the classroom. He took his normal seat at the front, and waited for others to arrive he greeted the professor with his normal greeting. It was a habit he had formed at the Swordmage Academy.
"Good afternoon, Professor," he said happily. He listened to the professor as she gave the instructions. He listened to the question and thought on what the spell could mean. He thought it sounded like obscure.
"It hides or blocks something from view," he said, with a small bit of confidence.

Entering the classroom she was surprised by the onslaught question. She had barely entered and the lesson had already began. She sat down and let Airen take it because she was a bit out of it that particular day

Charlotte walked into the classroom and saw that Tess and Airen were already there, it was nice to see a friendly few faces in her lessons, and they seemed to be in a lot of them. Seeing as the lesson had already started, Charlotte was startled and hurried to her seat, making sure to keep her ears tuned in for the next question, she didn't want to miss anything else Lucia told her.

He was excited about DADA, it was one of the classes the he needed to do very well in so he might eventually become an Auror. Humphrey enjoyed learning how to defend himself, and he thought that this was possibly the most practical class that the school offered. Thankfully, the professor was one he actually knew, and that thought had him looking forward to the lesson.
Finding a seat at the front of the class, he sat down and saw the word obscuro written on the board. His fellow Gryffindor Airen had already put his hand in the air. So, he just took out his book and looked at one of the professors that he actually knew. Which were few and far between.

Victoria was excited to get back to this class. It always proved to be exciting, or at least informative. As she took a seat next to Tess she was glad she had made the lesson in time.
Taking out her things, she wondered how the spell would be practiced.

Parker rushed to class, nearly running, and the loose papers sticking out of his bag nearly spilling out. He slowed his pace as he came to the door and swung his open. He hand resting on the door still, he looked around breathing heavily. He noticed that class may have just begun already and he lowered his head as he took the nearest seat. It was always so embarrassing to walk in when things had started already.

Haley walked into the classroom and sat down next to Parker with a smile. She then blinked and rubbed her eyes. She tilted her head to the side. Was that ... Humphrey? He was back? Haley leaned surprised back into the seat with a small smile. She had been worried about him.
She then heard what Airen replied, and started noting it down. She then looked at professor Henley, wondering what would happen next.

Re: DADA third lesson, third years (Obscuro)
Lucia looked around the class and at Airen with a small smile, but then her eyes were drawn to Victoria. It had been a while since she had been at school. She frowned lightly; something was off. But she blinked herself out of her thoughts and then looked at Airen again.
"Close enough. Obscuro does not hide an object or block it from view. It is a sort of blindfold that lays itself on your opponents eyes, and makes it unable to see. But it was very close, so I'll give you 5 housepoints for the answer, Mr. Auditorien," she said with a smile.
"Now, the spell in itself is a very easy spell to learn, but it only works as long as you stay focused. This is not a spell that has a countercurse, it lasts until you can't focus anymore. There is no handmovement, and the pronunciation is simple: Ob-scu-ro," she explained.
"I want you to try it, so please pair up. If there's an odd one out, go together three, and switch turns. But first, what creatures do you think this spell is very useful on?" she asked them.

Re: DADA third lesson, third years (Obscuro)
Haley thought about it. What creature would it be useful on? She frowned. What creature would it not be useful on? Honestly, it seemed like a spell that was useful on everything, as long as it worked. But she supposed it wouldn't be useful on lethifolds or anything, as they didn't see at all. And the Gytrash was also no use on, as it was based on darkness, and could practically feel everything.
But it might be very useful on some special creatures. Like dragons? They had no weak spot except for their eyes. A blinded dragon was never good, other than to the dragon's opponent. So she rose her hand.
"A dragon?" she asked.

Re: DADA third lesson, third years (Obscuro)
Lucia gave Haley a smile. "Indeed. Five points to Hufflepuff," she said softly.
She then sat down on her desk, looking at them. "Other creatures this spell is most effective on, is Manticores or Chimaeras. These three creatures, including the dragon, are creatures whose skin makes magic uneffective. So why does the Obscuro spell work? Because it is not located on the creature's skin, but eyes. You cannot defeat a manticore or chimaera, and therefore it is a very effective spell to use, giving you the opportunity to escape.
"If you meet a manticore or chimaera, you don't stay to fight, you run away. That is not cowardice or weakness, that is a sign of a properly functioning brain. There has never been anyone who could kill a manticore, and only one person has ever killed a chimaera. This wasn't quite the victory, as the man fell into his death from his winged horse," Lucia said lightly.
She sighed and looked at them all. "Which is why, if you ever have the misfortune of running into one, use this spell and run away. I'm not kidding. You do not want to meet one of those creatures. When it comes to dragons, paralyzing spells are also effective, but you need a dozen men to paralyze one fully grown dragon. Just so you know," Lucia said, giving them a sweet smile.
She then gave them a look of importance. "Now, go on and get ready to do some blinding. Pair up and see how long you manage to keep the spell. If you stay focused, there is no time limit. I'm sure you'll manage. Of course, don't keep your concentration for more than three minutes, remember to let the others have a chance," she said.
"Begin."

Re: DADA third lesson, third years (Obscuro)
"It would be useful to hide giants wouldn't it, Professor Henley." Humphrey said. When he thought of large things difficult to hide, he always thought of giants. Seemed like a logical choice of creature. Haley already answered, and he decided he would ask her if she wanted to pair up.
This spell could be very useful for infiltration class. He let his brain wander over the possibilities of a spell that helps hide you. If he got it down, he could put this spell into practice very easily. "Haley, do you want to pair up for the lesson?" he asked her.

Tess let out a slow smile and grabbed Victoria's hand practically dragging her to Parker. She knew that recently, Parker wasn't the social butterfly...not that he ever really was, but now his anti-social attitude oftentimes bothered her. Still it would not deter her from working with him.
"So the three of us it is" she said smiling.

Re: DADA third lesson, third years (Obscuro)
Victoria smiled at Tess's excitement. It seemed like she wasn't the only one that needed her energy, Parker had been looking down as well.
Deciding to kick off the practice she took a stance across from Tess. When Tess looked ready, Victoria took a deep breath and pointed her wand steadily at the girl.
"Obscuro." It looked like a shadow was moving over Tess's eyes. Victoria waited to hear if it had actually worked.

As Tess nodded signaling she was ready to go, she waited for it to start. When she heard the spell being said, she blinked wondering when it was going to occurring. The last thing she saw was Victoria's confusion, if she'd done it right before darkness overtook her.
Darkness was not really a warm welcome, she decided she did not like this spell whatsoever and formed fists waiting it out for as long as Victoria needed to. She bit her bottom lip not wanting to say anything to ruin her concentration, she knew how important it was for her to do and would be used in battle on day.

Re: DADA third lesson, third years (Obscuro)
Seeing Tess tense up, Victoria figured it was working. Unfortunately she looked like she was in pain. Not wanting to distress her anymore, Victoria lifted the spell.
"What was it like? Did it work?" She was curious. She wondered if this spell was somehow tied into the magic in the ring Charlie gave her. They both created shadows.
Turning to Parker, Victoria smiled. "Guess it's your turn." She took a balanced stance and waited for him to cast.

Tess was relieved when she could see, she and blinked a few times trying to get used to the light once more.
"It's...an experience" she said softly. "It was dark, and it's not the best feeling, so you bet it worked"
