Return To Hogwarts (open)

Humphrey Williams walked into the Gryffindor Common Room after what felt like a lifetime. The last time he had been here was well over a year ago, and he felt like he was finally coming home. His best friends were here at Hogwarts, some of them Gryffindors, and it felt wonderful to be back again.

The strange thing about what happened to Humphrey is that he had been given no warning when his aunt and uncle arrived at Hogwarts one evening. Apparently it had been arranged that he would be leaving with them and cleared with the headmaster, even though he didn't know it. His uncle had been diagnosed with cancer, he had a tumor in his brain and it was serious. His aunt wanted him to be home. Sadly, his uncle had passed away after a year-long battle with it. Now, after his aunt had been given a little time to grieve, she decided to let him return to Hogwarts. Despite the fact Humphrey had not been particularly close to his uncle, he had been saddened by his loss. The man meant more to Humphrey then he previously thought.

He looked around the common room and found an open armchair by the fire. "It is good to be back." he said quietly to himself. Before he knew it, he had dozed off.

Anne walked in her common room drying her eyes on her sleeve. She sighed and wished that she had someone anyone to help her. She sighed as she saw a third year asleep by the fire. She sighed and went over to him. She didn't plan on waking him she was just going to sit near him for now.

As she got closer she smiled at a cat that looked at her like it knew her. Did she have a pet, she had no clue. She shrugged it off and made to sit down on an armchair. If only she didn't trip on the table.

She sighed as she looked at the boy. She really had to be more careful. She had enough scars. The freak one on her face the mudblood one on her arm and all the other ones on her face. She really needed to stop getting hurt. That and stop doing stupid things like trying to erase her own memory and forgetting her whole hogwarts life.

Humphrey heard a soft sigh from behind him and it woke him up. He heard the person sit down in a chair and he decided he better say hello. Stretching and yawning, he tried to wake up a bit. "Hi. My name is Humphrey Williams. What's yours?" Humphrey asked her in a friendly tone. Then he looked at the person who had sat down. She was maybe a year younger than him.

It took him a second to place that look, then he noticed the puffiness under her eyes. Just a bit, and that they looked watery. "Oh, have you been crying? What's wrong?" he asked as nicely as he could.

Anne looked at the boy and smiled slightly. At least he was nice. She extended her hand. "Anne Jones." She said to him. "Nice to meet you." She said warmly. She looked at him and wondered what he was, he wasn't human. His future was a bit blurry. She shook her head and smiled again.

"Sorry if this is rude, but what are you?" She asked bluntly. She hoped he didn't take offence, but she wanted to know.

"Oh it's nothing. I just lost my memory, and had to find out that my parents are dead and that some German wants me dead, and enjoys my pain." She said shrugging. She was really torn up about it but he didn't need to know that.

"What am I? I'm a muggleborn third year Gryffindor. But, I think I know what you mean. I've never told anybody else before, but you seem pretty nice. Here goes, I'm a werewolf Anne. I got bit five months ago." Humphrey stated.

"It clearly isn't nothing Anne. I can tell you've been cyring. Tired I may be, but not that tired. You lost your memory, may I ask how, or why? And other people enjoying people's pain, that is sick and disgusting. If you need a person to talk to Anne, let me know. My parents died five years ago, and my uncle who took me in just died three months ago. I know it hurts. Don't be afraid to talk to others about it, keeping it in makes it worse. I know from experience." he told her.

"But, you don't have to tell me. I told you I'm a werewolf, I would understand if you were frightened. I don't understand everything about it myself, not to mention learning to control the monster. I'm scared of myself...." he trailed off.

Anne smiled and nodded. She wasn't scared. He couldn't control it. Though she didn't know the creatures were real, but then again, magic wasn't suppose to be real. "I'm sorry, that must be hard. I know what it's like to be an outcast." She said sighing. "I'm muggleborn as well." She said sighing because she had learned what the word on her arm meant. Dirty blood, because of who her parents were.

"I'm not sure how. I might have done it to myself. It wouldn't surprise me." She said shrugging. "I know, but what can I do about it." She said sighing. "He did this to me." She said gesturing to her scared face. She still couldn't believe he carved Freak in her face.

"I'm sorry." She said frowning. "That must be so hard on you." She said feeling sorry for the third year. "Thank you for your kindness. I really don't deserve it." She said gratefully.

"I'm not scared of you. It's not in your control." She said shrugging. "I've apparently seen the worst side of human nature, and he had all the control. You're nice." She said smiling at the werewolf.

"Yea, it is. I was American before I moved to Scotland. Still miss the USA. Why have you been treated like an outcast? Just so you know, being muggleborn is nothing to be ashamed of, be proud of it. I am." Humphrey told her proudly.

Until Anne pointed to her face, he hadn't even noticed the word Freak carved into it. "Yea, magic can be a dangerous thing. And there really is nothing you can do but make new memories, try to make them happy ones too. You aren't a freak Anne. He is a disgusting excuse for a person, and you are stronger than he is. You seem like a good person who has been abused." Humphrey told her.

"It is alright, I am healing from the loss slowly. My aunt Julie is taking it harder than I am. I miss him, but I only knew him for five years. She's known him for most of her life. What do you mean you don't deserve kindness. Everybody deserves kindness, no matter who they are or what they've done." When he said the last bit he tried to impress upon her he really meant it.

"Well I am glad you aren't, and it isn't. I am just wondering whether or not I should tell Headmaster Romain. If they could give me the wolfsbane potion once a month it might help. But I'm afraid she may kick me out. Humans can do horrible things to people. Thanks Anne, I do try to be a nice person. I got to warn you though, sometimes I can be just a teensy bit mean." he said, holding his fingers apart about an inch.

"How did you know something was different about me Anne? It seemed like you knew something was off before I told you."

Anne smiled she had never been to America yet, maybe she'd go when she was older. She sighed knowing she had no one to take her but she would go one day. Anne smiled she had never been ashamed about being muggleborn. She loved her parents. They were the best people she had even known. "I'm proud to be muggleborn," She said with pride. "mudblood and proud." She muttered. She knew it was just a word.

Anne didn't say anything. She was a freak in the muggle world and here. "I know I'm stronger. I always have been." She said to him. from what she had heard. She had lasted through a bit of torture too. She sighed and looked at her feet.

"I'm sorry. I know it must be hard. I know it is on me." She said wishing she knew where her parents were buried even. Then she could a least visit them.

Anne shrugged and didn't say anything. She was confused and tired. She had no clue what she had done, but people dislike her for it.

"Tell her. It's for the best." Anne said firmly. "I know, people are horrible." She said looking at the scar on her arm. She was marked a mudblood. Because someone didn't like her.

"We all are." She said shrugging,s he had never met a person who was nice all the time.

"Your Aura was off. Your future was a bit blurry. Humans are clear." She said shrugging. "I can see the future." She told him.

"Good, because as a Gryffindor you have to be proud of yourself. Because if you aren't then all us other Gryffindors have to keep the bullies in check, but if you do that for yourself then that is always good. That is the right attitude." he smiled at her. He was really enjoying talking to her.

"It is important to not let the things happen to us define us. That is how you tell the true character of somebody. But you have to know you are not a freak, people pick on the ones who stick out a little bit. Most of the time it is because they either are scared of us or dislike us. Often it seems like the best people are the ones who get teased the most. Funny old world we live in."

"Thanks, and it is hard. Yet, there is always a silver lining you can look to if you search for it. Always hope in the world." Humphrey said with certainty in his voice.

"I think I will, until now I wasn't sure. But, I told you, and you don't seem to hate me. Maybe she'll let me stay. She may even be able to help. I suppose none of us are all nice all the time, yet I don't want to use that as an excuse for being mean."

"My Aura? Hmm, a blurry future. I've never known a seer before. Except for the Divination Professor, that is. You have a real gift there Anne. You know, I have really enjoyed talking to you. Would you maybe want to hang out sometime. I think you would like something in the abandoned tower. I made a little corner for myself, but you'd have to see it to understand. Want to go up there with me sometime?" he asked her.

Anne smiled she rather enjoyed talking to him. He knew nothing about her so she was meeting him not re-meeting him. She smiled warmly and nodded laughing to his comment.

Anne shook her head. It was a messed up world. She wished it was more fair. She was lucky she lived when she did. had she been born a long time ago she would have been burner for his visions.

"Always." She said surly. There was always hope.

"Good, she'd be mad if she found out and you didn't tell her." She said not wanting to cross the woman. "She'll understand." She said.

"A Seer is that what they call it. Interesting." She said wondering if she was friendly with the older seer. "That sounds great." She said smiling. She smiled hoping he would show her some of his artwork.

"I hope she will, she has always been nice before. You know Anne, maybe that is why people treat you differently, because you are a Seer not because of your personality." he told her.

"Really? Well, if you want to go see it now I could take you. Normally there isn't anybody up there. Is on the rare occasion, but generally not. The view from it is spectacular. Want to go head up? I think you will like it." Humphrey told her, motioning toward the door to the common room.

Anne thought for a moment. She wasn't sure. She thought it could be fun. She smiled and nodded. "Sure lets go." She said to him happing she would be ok. I mean how many bad things could happen to one person.

"Well I really wish they didn't and people always treat me differently. Since I was a kid." She said sighing.

"Yeah, come on, it's totally fine. You aren't the first person who's seen my paintings. Let's go, just follow me up to the abandoned tower. My art is set up in a corner by a window overlooking the black lake." Humphrey told her. He hoped she would like it. So far, everybody who had seen it had.

"I know what you mean, I've always been a little bit of a misfit too. Being Muggleborn, I was always the weird kid who only had one friend. Only because I was good at basketball, too. Then when I got here, everybody hated me first year because I tried to date a girl named Charlotte. She ended up choosing a different guy, and everybody though I was a jerk because of that. Which was unfair. If it helps at all, I won't treat you any differently than anybody else. I hate bullying and discrimination, it disgusts me, Anne." Then he left the common room and started walking towards the abandoned tower.

"Come on, let's go up to the abandoned tower. I'll try not to walk too fast."
