Just thinking (Open)

Tabi had a lot of things on her mind recently and just needed to take a walk, she tried to reach her sister, but once again her sister was blocking her and she hated that.

She found a seat by the lake and just stared out at the water, she had homework to do but didn't feel like bringing it out with her. She like the peace and quiet of the lake.

Oh the lake, it was the prettiest part of living in Hogwarts. It was so calm, she ignored the giant squid capturing and bird and kept walking down the usual path. She loved being surrounded by beauty, and isolation, that is until she found herself seeing a person she knew.

"Tabi?" she called out curiously.

Tabi seemed to be off in another world until she heard her name being called. She turned around and noticed Tess sitting there and she had to smile,

"Hey Tess, come to join the nice serenity of the lake with me?

Tabi patted the spot on the ground next to her, "Right here if you like, its not as hard as it looks."

Tess smiled at Tabi and walked over to her, sitting down beside her as asked.

"You know this place is my favorite spot? I absolutely love it here" she murmured softly.

She turned to face her friend and smiled slightly.

"What brought you here?"

Tabi just had to smile when Tess sat down and asked her what she was thinking about.

"There are many things that I think about. Most of the time I just think how much I miss Ivano. He is over at Durmstrang now, did I tell you that."

Tabi knew she was getting letters as often as he could send them, but she still missed not seeing him everyday.

"They always say absence makes the heart grow fonder, not sure how that is suppose to work though." Tabi smiled

Tess frowned at the bit about Ivano leaving considering she knew how close Tabi was to Ivano and how they loved one another very much. She honestly didn't know what she would do if Xander was gone; she knew they weren't as tight as Tabi and Ivano were but it'd still be terrible.

"No you didn't mention that before" she commented. "Nice chap, and I agree, when you see him again, you'll love him all the more"

Tabi had to smile, "Yes, I know it will." Tabi wondered if she could go ahead and tell her the other information that she new.

"I found out some bad things though too. I guess he was kidnapped when he was 4 years old. I cannot imagine how you would feel if you found out you life was a lie."

Tess looked at her shocked. What would happen if her parents weren't hers? She'd be crushed, betrayed, and would've had a lack of identity and doubting herself.

"That's terrible! How is he coping?" she asked frowning.

Tabi sighed, she was worried because she hadn't heard for in over a week.

"I really don't know. I haven't heard from him since I found out. I am just really worried. He had been writing everyday." Tabi was trying really hard not to cry.

"Can you imagine being in a school where people hate the British, and not being able to speak any German." Tabi was like in a trance as she talked staring at the lake trying not to cry.

Humphrey strongly disliked Tabi Prewett, but he needed to confront her sometime. He always tried being friendly towards her. But the Slytherin had always been difficult and insulting towards him. Maybe since Tess was there Tabi would be reasonably tolerant. Walking up to Tess and Tabi, he took a seat on the grass by the lake. "Hi Tess, hey Tabi. How are you both doing?" he asked them.

Looking out across the Black Lake at Hogwarts was one of his favorite things to do. Also one of his very favorite things to paint. He couldn't wait til it was a little warmer, because he wanted to go swimming with the giant squid.

Tabi go not help but sigh loudly when she heard Humphrey talk and then sit down,

"Jimmie Christmas, did you have to come out here and distrub my peace and quiet. I didn't like you before you left so why would you think I would like you now that you have returned"

Tabi was in the mood for a fight so she decided to stay where she was, besides she was here first.

"Sorry, I come out to the lake all the time. I didn't know this was your private space Tabi. My mistake, I guess. Should have known you would try and act like you own the lake. You want me to leave I take it?" Humphrey asked her.

A lot of things had changed, but not Tabi's irritable, cold attitude toward people. He had hoped she had grown a little nicer. But, apparently not.

Tabi really felt like slapping the guy, "I never said I owned the lake, and you have not changed a bit I can tell you that. Always wanting to be in other peoples business."

Tabi stood up and stomped her foot, "This was the spot I was sitting at having a nice conversation with Tess here so you can find another spot and that would be fine by me."

Tabi was in the mood for a fight so if he wanted to stay she would love to fight with him, that's how upset she was with things.

"I walked over here, said hello, and you started insulting me for disturbing your peace. What did I ever do to you Tabi? All I did, was walk over here, and I am friends with Tess too. Did you ever think maybe that was why I walked over here?" Humphrey asked her. Tabi was one of two people who grated his nerves, and made him so angry he was forced to use his teaching from Occlumency to try and control his temper.

"If you don't own the lake, then stop acting like it. I can come over and talk to you and Tess if I want to. You can't do a single thing about it. You don't know what you are talking about if you think I haven't changed Tabi. I've changed a lot more than I'll ever let you find out. Because you are already convinced I am a nosy jerk, that is what you see. So stop pretending I am in the wrong, I never did anything to you except try to be your friend once." Humphrey told her. It was the cold, hard, truth.

"Sorry about this Tess. I didn't realize Tabi was going to react this way. If I did, I wouldn't have walked over here." he told her.

Tess smiled immediately at seeing Humphrey but it immediately disappeared as her two friends began to fight. She moved her head from Tabi's comment to Humphrey's and the tension was rising immediately.

"Enough you two" she said frowning "Please don't find, can't we just get along? You're both my friends and I'd hate to see you argue"

"I'm trying to be nice, Tess. Tabi just insulted me when I said hi to you. You know me, I don't go looking for fights normally. But, I am not just going to lie down and let her insult me. There's a difference between being nice, and being a pushover. If she promises not to insult me, then I don't have any problem with her. I'd love to be her friend, if she would let me." he said. It was the truth, he had never wanted to be enemies with Tabi, but the girl hated him.

"Sorry, Tess. I know you hate seeing people fight. I'll try not to fight with Tabi in the future." Humphrey apologized to his second best friend Tess. Then he attempted a smile. "You know, it is a really beautiful day out here, isn't it?" he asked Tabi. Weather was a safe topic, right?

Tabi really didn't like Humphrey and she was not her sister and if she didn't like him she would not pretend to like him.

"I am sorry Tess, but I have changed some but not enough to deal with him. I can't explain it but I don't like him." Tabi stated plainly.

"I will just move myself to a different spot by the lake, and the two of you can talk."

Tabi turned away from someone she thought was her friend, but she knew she couldn't have anyone just too herself. Tabi walked just about 50 feet from where they were and sat down and stared back at the lake.

Tess bit her bottom lip as she saw Tabi walk away from them.

"Tabi wait-" but it was no use.

She was stubborn, a stubborn girl and she sighed seeing that she couldn't interact with two of her good friends at once. She bit her bottom lip and lowered her gaze wondering what she'd done wrong, and why things couldn't work out easily.

"Tabi, what do you hate so much about me?" he asked, loudly enough for her to be able to hear. "Is it the fact that I left for a year, or the fact that Charlotte, Airen, and I had drama at the end of first year. What is it you dislike so much about me?" Humphrey asked. He wanted to honestly know why she hated him so much.

"Sorry Tess, I'll just go. You and Tabi were already here. I'll catch up with you at Zonko's next Hogsmeade weekend, right?" he asked her. He wanted to reaffirm their already made plains before he left the black lake.

Tess placed her hands over Humphrey's trying to get him to calm down, but that wasn't happened. As he screamed over towards Tabi she felt her nerves getting to her and her toes curled reigning in anger.

But as he left she simply nodded.

"Sure, Hogsmeade it is" she said smiling tentatively before seeing him go.

As he left she walked over to Tabi and sat beside her tentatively.

"I'm sorry...I didn't know that he was-I'm sorry" she said frowning.

Tabi turn towards Humphrey as he yelled at her, "Being a Gryffindor is enough of a reason for me."

Tabi sighed when Tess sat down next to her, "I am sorry, you can spend time with him I wouldn't care."

Tabi was trying to remember why she didn't like "I just remember when he was first here and he always knew the answers, always was better at everything than everyone."

Tabi sighed some more and was playing with the grass, "He always wanted to know everything about everyone else"

Humphrey left Tabi and Tess to talk. He honestly didn't understand why Tabi hated him. If he knew, he could understand, and then he wouldn't mind as much. But, she seemed to hate him for no apparent reason. That was what grated his nerves so bad, if he had done something than he would get it. But, this blind hatred towards somebody he would never understand. As he walked away, he was glad of that too. He knew she must have had some hard things happen to her in life to make her like this. That was one thing he knew about, tough family problems. At least, that is what he guessed had made Tabi so cold and irritable.

The Black Lake was his favorite place to paint, and sit, and think. However, when there was an angry girl there who wanted nothing more than to hex him into oblivion, it was not a fun place to be. So, he trudged up to the main doors and went up to Gryffindor Tower. He smiled about the fact that he was going to go hang at Zonko's with Tess soon.

Tess sighed as she saw Humphrey leave. It seemed that he was already having a hard time with his return. And Tabi, she understood, that pent up anger needed to be released, but it happened to be that Humphrey was the victim.

"I am glad you don'd mind, he's one of my friends here too." she explained.

At him knowing everything Tess chuckled a bit.

"I wonder if people find me annoying too if I answer" she commented. "He's a good chap, just...you need patience."

Laying down beside Tabi she smiled at her.

"At least do you feel better?" she asked.

Tabi sighed, "I have never found you annoying. You at least admit when you are wrong. He has never admitted that."

Tabi laughed a little at her next thought, "Too be honest, I have no clue why I yelled at him right now, other than he was in my space and intruding in on a personal conversation." Tabi smiled, "Heck I don't even remember why I am suppose to hate him other than he is a Gryffindor."

Tabi had to laugh when she asked if she felt any better,

"Well a little, I just miss Ivano and hope he is ok."

Tess smiled and shrugged. She knew when she was wrong, and even when she wasn't wrong she apologized, she thought grinning. Tabi was a complicated person, outside being tough and classic Slytherin, but inside she was just a normal girl wanting friendship and Tess was there to provide it alongside with others.

"Well he's not terrible" she said grinning "And while I don't condone arguing, at least you both screamed it out"

She patted her hand at the mention of Ivano.

"School's almost out, why can't you two meet during it? I think that'd be romantic"
