A Man's Best Friend (Austin and Jacqueline)
"What can I get you sir?" The bartender wiped some glasses, eyes never leaving the man sat at the bar, staring over at the drinks.
Ah!~
What to have today? Alcohol wasn't something that Austin agreed with, but at times he could really call it his 'best friend', simply due to the fact that, other than smoking, it was the only way to make him feel better and forget about things he was thinking about and couldn't get out of his head. He finally looked up at the bartender, who was now leaning over the counter, seemingly trying to figure out what kind of creature he was. From the smell of him, he was a vampire...it probably wouldn't take long for him to realise that Austin was a werewolf. Most vampires would have stuck their noses in the air and turned away, but this one grinned an almost friendly grin.
Austin wasn't fooled.
"I'll have a firewhiskey, thanks." He mumbled under his breath, and the bartender turned around, pouring him a glass of his desired drink.

Re: A Man's Best Friend (Austin and Jacqueline)
Jacqueline brushed a lock of hair from her face as she stared at the mirror which was attached to an antique dresser. Her eyes swept the room once. She felt a sadness in her, something that seemed to always accompany her. A picture, by the side of her bed, one of her, Salina, Laurence and Corinne. Jaq stood up and strode over to the picture, and in a swift movement had collected it into her hand. She sat on the edge of her bed and stared at the image.
They were stood in front of a beautiful, magnificent lake in the countryside of France. Jaq was younger then, still in Beauxbatons of course. Jaq in the picture waved and grinned happily. Corinne and Salina stood in front of her, arms linked and pompous looks on their face as they smiled like the Queens of the world. And Laurence, ever the glowing little boy, beamed up at Jaq and bounced around his sisters happily. A tear dripped down Jaq's cheek and fell onto the frame.
She turned away and placed the picture back on her bedside table. Soon, she had hurried out of the house and to her favourite club - a mixture of creatures and wizards/witches. She often found peace there, and also enjoyed the drinks and watching others dance. So far, she had experienced heart-break four times. The first, when Vierdos had vanished. The second, when Corinne had fallen into a coma. The third, when Morgan had also vanished, and now Corinne was dead. A heavy sigh left her lips as she sat beside a stranger at the bar and waited to be served.

Re: A Man's Best Friend (Austin and Jacqueline)
Austin did not bother to look around him, nor listen to anyone either. All - or most - creatures chose to be antisocial and just stuck to being with only one friend of theirs, scattering around the club as if just watching around for any more suspicious behaviour...mostly from their own kind. Witches and wizards, on the other hand, danced and laughed and were found kissing in every corner of the room. That actually made Austin feel a bit sick; he hadn't experienced anything like that in years but that wasn't the point; it was the smell on those creatures. That lust that he just hated. And these people were just no older than eighteen, most of them, and had obviously faked everything so that they either looked eighteen or their ID stated that they were much older than they actually were and were left alone.
The second someone sat next to him, he looked up at the bartender to see him handing him the glass before nearly drooling as his eyes moved towards who Austin now assumed was a human who had taken a seat beside him. Oh God no; this was just something that wasn't needed tonight. He came - ALL these people came - at this place tonight to relax and forget about the past and everything else, not to see a vampire drain a human from her blood. He cleared his throat, then drank some of the alcohol. It burned going down his throat, but all the time he was staring the bartender down. His day was not about to be ruined by this man.
"Well, what can I get you, love?" He wiped another few glasses as he still looked over at the blonde. Austin still ignored everyone around him, although he did keep a good eye on the bartender...what was his name again? Barry something? Larry something? Whatever it was...it didn't matter at this exact time.

Re: A Man's Best Friend (Austin and Jacqueline)
Jaq didn't care for the look that she was given from the bartender who was serving the man beside her. She cringed slightly, it was a hungry look - like he wanted to devour her. Typical, she goes to a bar and has a vampire wanting to eat her. She rolled her eyes and rested her arms on the counter, wishing she could fade into the background, or sink through the floor. She was just so tired of being tired all the time, of missing her sisters, of needing to hold Corinne in her arms onc more. She was tired of everyone she loved vanishing, Vierdos, Morgan, Corinne.
In that moment, Jaq had never wanted to scream more. She wanted to storm over to those bloody smooching couples and wrench them a part for being so happy when she was not. It was stupid, really, envying everyone else's happiness but it wasn't something she could exactly help when she had no happiness. She hated her parents, all she had was Laury and he was no replacement for the hole in her heart that ached for someone to hold her and stroke her hair whilst she cried. Jaq reminded herself to stop thinking about it, to just relax and drink. She took a moment to compose herself, a few deep breaths and some happy thoughts and she felt a little better. She knew alcohol would help her even more in her attempt to achieve happiness. Jaq smiled in relief.
Jaq looked up at the bartender as he asked what he could get her, and winced at the word 'love'. "Firewhisky, cheers," she responded, watching as he got her drink and handed it to her with a smirk, something in his eyes that she didn't like. It sent shivers down her spine and she took the firewhisky rather swiftly, paying him his dues. She drank from the glass, enjoying the relief that washed through her body and the burning sensation down her throat. How she missed alcohol.
