Running a hand over his uniform, Wolfram smiled. He actually liked Durmstrang's uniform. He wasn't sure how many of his fellow students thought the same, but for him, it was because the cut and style was militaristic. The boy had always liked those kind of clothes. Seeing that no cat hair was littering the dark red of his shirt or the black of his pants, Wolfram finger combed his hair as he walked into the common room.

Looking around he stopped for a moment as he tried to think of what he should do today. Taking a seat he gazed towards the fire as his mind wandered of the possible things to do. His homework was mostly done and what was left he could finish up before he went to bed.

His attention was diverted back to the here and now when he caught movement out of the corner of his eye. Turning to look a slight frown marred his face.

New Friend or Foe? Empty Re: New Friend or Foe?

Katrina had a long day and she was about ready to go to bed. She was already in her sleepwear of T-shirt and shorts and some white socks. She had been in her dorm room and could not sleep so she went in search of her dark arts book. It was no where in the room so she thought maybe she left it downstairs in the common room.

Walking down to the common room she started ruffling throw all the tables and looking on the book shelves. She was about to ruffle through the couch when she noticed that someone was sitting on it.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to bother you. I am just looking for my Dark Arts book." Katrina sighed and then sat on the couch next to him.

Katrina was not nice to many people, except those in her house and Hugo. Everyone else she despised.

"I am Katrina...But you can call me Kat."

Wolfram gave her a fake smile before he launched into his tirade that generally had people dislike him. "If you didn't meant to bother me you wouldn't have been destroying the couch. And really, are you part squirrel that you put your books in odd places or are you just really that forgetful?"

Giving the girl a condescending look, he crossed his arms as well as crossing one leg over the other as he looked away from her. Glancing at her when she introduced herself, Wolfram thought the statement he'd made seemed accurate if she couldn't remember his name from classes. Well, he wasn't going to refresh her memory.

"Maybe you should keep a better eye on it. Someone could have picked it up already and decided to keep it."

Kat could not believe this guy, well two can play at the rude game.

"No I am not a squirrel, but have you seen the people around here they are pigs" Kat spat at him.

Kat pushed him out of her way when she saw it under his but, "You were sitting on it."

Kat could not believe that she was trying to be nice to him.

"I have never actually talked to you Wolfram, so I was trying to be polite, so I shall never make that same mistake again.

Katrina moved back on the couch and pulled her feet up under her. Trying to read the book, she kept glaring at him over the top of it.

Openly showing his dislike as the girl manhandled him, Wolfram stayed where he was on the floor. Sitting crosslegged as well as recrossing his arms across his chest he glared back. "And you wonder why we haven't spoke," he muttered.

"Like it's my fault it was there." He was going to check to see who it belonged to but instead the girl had come out here first. "It really serves you right. You're just lucky that it was me and not someone who decided that your book made good practice or fuel for the fire."

Standing he brushed the dirt off his uniform. He took pride in the way he looked even though he sometimes hated his looks because of the attention it drew to him when he didn't want it. Other times, he liked it a lot. Maybe he should let Manannan loose. That cat liked to trip everyone and had more lives than nine. Wolfram was sure that it had lost more than that just trying to get away from his crazy plotting brothers.

"If that was your polite, I dread to see what your rude is."

"Well maybe we haven't talked because you are beneath me." Kat spat, actually it was because she had been busy with Hugo and other things like torture..Kat grinned to herself.

Kat just glared at Wolf, "People would not even dare do anything to my stuff. I have cursed people for less."

Kat was trying to decide if she like this guy, or not. It was obvious that he could give her a run for her money and she liked that idea. She looked at him as he stood up and brushed off his clothes, she will say this he was not bad looking.

"Not hard to be beneath you since you shove people down so they're forced to look up at you," Wolfram retorted. Seeing that no harm was done to his uniform, he put one hand on his hip as he stared at her. So she was one of those.

Wolfram had wondered about his house when he'd been sorted into it. His first thought had been, 'Oh joy. I'm going to be in the house of the psychopaths.'

His opinion hand't been swayed and had more or less solidified upon meeting and seeing his Head of House in action. Some of his reservation had slightly changed and softened but only slightly.

"And I repeat that if that is your nice it's not hard to understand why people would think that it was actually rude. If you curse people for less do you honestly expect that they'd do something so you'd know it was them? If it was me I'd find a way around it or hire someone to do it for me. Just make sure you have them swear an oath or put a spell on them so they can't rat you out if caught."

Kat could not help but smirk at him, "Looking up at me is a good place for people to be. That lets them know where they stand."

Kat could not believe she was acting like this, she usually was a little nicer to people in her own house, but then she liked the little sparring match that was going on. Hugo never sparred with her and she missed that kind of attention, Casey and her used to fight all the time.

Kat had to laugh a little when he talked about having other people do things, or hiding the fact that it was that person.

"Believe you me, most people in this house are not that smart, I can scare answers out of most of them by just looking at them."

Katrina had stood up next to him at this point and realized that he was a little taller than her, but size was just size.

"Maybe you just don't know me well enough to know when I am rude and when I am nice. Nice me never says I am sorry."

Wolfram could make a comment about the standing statement but decided not to waste his breath. Instead he had to nod his head in agreement with the smart comment. He'd found that a lot which made him not respect very many of his fellow students. Not liking many of them and not thinking too highly of them along with his sarcastic and prickly personality didn't earn him many friends. Not that he was bothered about that.

Giving the girl a quizzical look when she'd stated she could scare most anyone the boy had to repress a shudder. That was something he was not going to challenge. Wolfram once asked his father why sometimes just did things when his mother got this certain look on her face. The man had told him he'd understand when he was older. But he'd known some looks his mother sent him meant when he'd done something wrong and decided to err on the side of caution.

"Are you trying to imply that I'm not being polite? By your own words perhaps you don't know me well enough to know if this my polite or if I'm worse when I'm not trying to be polite. Or are you trying to say that your'e apologizing and that that should frighten me?"

Wolfram knew some of the students and had learned that like Katrina that they only apologized when they were plotting. Eyes tightening a little, Wolfram ran a hand through his hair as if he wasn't affected by what that could imply for him.

Katrina really should not try to be confrontational when she is tired because things do not come out of her mouth correctly. This guy seemed like he could be the type of guy she could be allies with.

"What I am trying to say is that if I was trying to be rude I would not have said I was sorry when I bother you. You went on the defensive, I went on the defensive."

Katrina could not believe she was actually trying to change this around

"You are right, I don't know you that well and I usually stay in my own world so I don't know people. Besides it is only important that they know me and stay out of my way." Katrina stated

Katrina had one heck of a reputation and she liked it that way. She had always been a loner.

Wolfram snorted. He didn't go on the defensive. He had nothing to be defensive about. All he'd done was come into the room and have Katrina come in and start going about the common room rooting around like a squirrel looking for their hidden stash of nuts. Or when Manannan was ferreting out where Wolfram had hidden the catnip.

In his opinion she had nothing to apologize for so he'd spoken up and stated what he'd thought. If she wanted to think that was him being defensive, that served in his favor. Shrugging that away he eyed her suspiciously.

"Apology accepted," Wolfram stated matter-of-factly. Going back to the couch and sitting back down with a leg crossed he offered as if he was helping her, "You know if you want people to know you and stay out of your way a reputation doesn't always work of course because that's just asking for people to challenge you. But for this incident I was here first. You intruded into my space."

Katrina just sighed and was still holding her book, she really wanted to get some reading done but she was having more of an interesting time getting to know this person she had not bothered getting to know before.

It was not like she meant to disturb him there was just no one usually down her at this time of the night, she really could not get a reading on this guy and it was bugging her. Most of the time she was better than this at judging someone.

She watched him go over and sit on the couch, so she followed him over to the couch. She sat on the opposite side of the couch on the arm of it and listened to him.

Kat was a little shocked to hear the guy say that he accepted her apology, no one had ever done that. But she had discovered that he was very much like her in the way he talks, except he has more tact than she does.

"Well so far, that type of reputation has worked for me, and I thought this was the common room. As in for everyone." Kat smirked.

"Well you have your space on the couch over there." As she pointed to his side of the couch. "And I have my space of the couch here." As she pointed to her part of the couch.

Wolfram found a smirk on his lips as he readily agreed. "It is so how is it people are to stay out of your way if they gather here since it is for everyone? If you really wanted to be by yourself you could have just gone to your room but then you'd have the other girls to glare and cast curses at."

This was rather fun and he was enjoying himself. It wasn't something he'd thought he'd be doing to pass the time, but it was better than staring into space as he'd seen some do. Not knowing if she was going to turn on him was also a bit thrilling.

"Maybe I should write my name here so people will know it's my spot and you should do the same? Then there won't be any confusion if someone tries to challenge you again. Or you could just leave your book there again and accuse them of stealing it."

Katrina could not put a finger on it, but it almost felt like she was arguing with a brother. She really did miss Andi a lot sometimes. She never understood why her left again after being there for her.

"It is actually really simple, I walk into the room with a scowl on my face and it is like the parting of the red sea." She had no idea where that comment came from, she had never stepped foot in a church before. "Where ever I am others quickly disappear"

Katrina believed if she gave herself have a chance she might actually make another friend. Hugo was her only friend and currently he had been busy with other things and had been ignoring her, and she hated to be ignored. She had always been one to crave attention, from where ever it came from.

Kat had to laugh when he commented on placing their names on their spots, which gave her and idea. She pulled her wand out of the ponytail she had her hair in and walking on the couch she pulled Wolfram forward and taking her wand into the couch she wrote..'Wolfie's Spot' then walking back on the couch to her spot bending over not thinking about the shorts she was wearing she wrote, 'Kat's Spot'

Grinning she sat back down on the arm of the couch, "There now we should not have any issues."

Kat smiled, "And I didn't accuse you of stealing my book, just of sitting on it."

Wolfram opened his mouth to comment about how she saw that as a positive thing. Wasn't that counterproductive or something to what they were being taught? How well was she supposed to get along with her fellow soldier? Was that what they were going to be called? When they were going to be sent off to fight the British?

That was until she once again rousted him from his seat. Katrina must have liked to manhandle people. Shaking his head even though he wanted to laugh at her brazen display. Instead he kept his face neutrally blank. "Unless of course we get called in for vandalism in which case I'm not going to cover for you."

All the same, he sat back down in place before she'd made him move. It was nice though that now in case someone tried to question him he could say it was his spot since his name was there. Enjoying their verbal spar he smirked again. "I didn't say you accused me of stealing your book. I just said you could accuse the next person."

Katrina was enjoying her time with Wolfie, that's what she was going to start calling him. She like that name, but of course no one else could call him that.

"I don't recall asking you to cover for me." Kat smirked. "Nothing phases me, and take the punches as they come."

What Kat said was true, if he knew half the things she had done this last year he would probably be in shock, and she had yet to be caught and busted so nothing bothers her.

"But maybe I like to accuse you, that might be fun." Katrina could not help but smile.

"You know I think I could like you."

"So I've seen today," Wolfram remarked dryly although he couldn't stop the slight quirk to his lips. He was beginning to like this girl. Shaking his head he waved his hand giving her an amused look.

"You've already accused me and that has worked wonderfully hasn't it?" There wasn't any reason for him to take the blame for something he didn't do, nor would he. It just wasn't him and for something like this? There was of course a perfect way to sabotage people, but he didn't think this was one of them.

"Our handwriting is nothing alike so good look with that. Then of course they could use a truth spell on you so there goes your plan. Of course with your intimidation factor you could just blame someone else and they'd be too scared to refute it."

A half amused half curious expression crossed his face as he gazed at the other. "Careful. You wouldn't want that going out now would you? Wouldn't that ruin your scary persona?"

"Well I am trying to decide if it works or not, you seem to be my type of guy." He seems to play what he is thrown too.

Kat decided that she really should go to bed, she was beginning not to make sense, but she really didn't want too.

Kat laughed and almost fell off the arm of the couch over the hand writing, "Well I will just have to find a spell that will let me copy it."

Kat was good at some spell work, but she realized most of the spells she knew were just evil spells, she never took the time to learn anything that might be a little more useful.

"But then you are right, I can intimidate many people, but I cannot do it too you. Even if I wanted too, there is just something about you."

Katrina has to give a little smile that she had, only two people had ever seen it. "Well even scary people need friends"

Katrina was still trying to figure this guy out, she was trying to decide was he really a good guy playing at being bad, or a bad guy playing at being good.

"So whats your story, are you a bad guy or good guy? I am trying to figure it out.?" It was really bugging her and she had to ask.

Wolfram wasn't too sure what to make of her comment that he was her type of guy and decided to ignore it for now. And about the handwriting, he'd not thought about it but she could learn his handwriting and forge it the regular way.

Nearly snickering when Katrina almost fell off the couch, a small smile stayed on his face. "Well, then I shall do my very best to keep that from happening. I don't mind if you steal anyone else's writing but I prefer to keep my own, thank you."

Giving the girl a surprised and curious look when she'd stated she couldn't intimidate him, Wolfram decided he'd keep making her think that. It was a good thing to keep to himself. He didn't like people knowing when they did intimidate him because that was just asking to be pushed around and have someone being able to manipulate him was not something he wished.

"Oh yes, because them being so scary has people fleeing in terror of them," he quipped. "A double edged sword, that."

Was she trying to imply that they should become friends? Wolfram had to admit he liked her and that she had given back as well as she got with their banter. She hadn't left in annoyance or frustration or even gone so far as to hit him for his belligerence. He could possibly maybe admit that he liked that and wanted to be on speaking terms with her. It wasn't enough to just be tolerated sometimes.

Freezing slightly and shifting in his seat and trying to disguise it by uncrossing his legs, he leaned against the couch arm instead. Looking at her with veiled eyes he returned her question with another question. "Depends on your perspective doesn't it? Who really considers themselves the bad guy? Who actually names them the bad guy in the first place and that name is just lame in my opinion. 'The Bad Guy'. They need to get creative. Maybe give him a name so people know what he's doing like Hannibal the Cannibal. That was witty."

Katrina really liked this guy and if she was not with Hugo she would diffidently be making a play for him, but still he was going to be handy to have around she just knew it. She had a feeling they could be close like brother and sister, just their attitudes towards each other were enough for her to noticed that.

"Well since you have asked me so nicely, I shall leave anything that belongs to you alone." Katrina smiled, if he hung out with her everyone would leave his stuff alone. She was a good person to be friends with.

Katrina had to laugh a little, "HAHA, I haven't had anyone running in terror for at least a week or two. Besides I like to have only a few friends, the ones that a person can trust."

Katrina looked at Wolfie closely, she felt she could trust him and that was a good thing in her book. She would always have his back, she decided that already.

Katrina moved so she was sitting on the couch instead of the arm, after almost falling off again she decided that was a good thing. She spread her legs out so she was almost touching Wolfram with her toes. She did hate being short sometimes.

"You are totally correct, but then I have the name Katrina the Bitch, at least that is what I hear." Katrina wondered though what he would consider himself, she knew she was a bitch and didn't mind it at all. But then she didn't consider herself the bad guy, even though she could be.

"I think you a bad guy in a good guys costume." She smiled, "You just don't know it yet."

Wolfram had released a relieved breath and couldn't help but feel grateful that she'd stated she'd leave his things alone. It wasn't like he was attached to most things, but it was nice to know that she wouldn't go about and touch or destroy his things for fun or pettiness or because she just felt like it.

Having friends you could trust was nice. Wolfram had had to leave those that he'd respected or trusted and trusted him in return. Coming to this school had been like being the new student all over again. With the older ones looking at you and judging you while those in his same age group did the same. Weighing if they were 'worthy' enough. It was just like muggle school just with cliques being different.

Glancing at the girl's feet he wondered if he should prod them and thought better of it. He'd looked up when Katrina admitted to what her name around the school was and actually let out a guffaw at that. Giving her an amused look stated innocently, "I wonder how they could have ever come up with that."

His amused look turned to one of curiousness with a touch of weariness. Katrina was smart and he would have to tread carefully around her. That just earned her a few more notches in his book. Making sure his voice was neutral he asked, "Whatever makes you say that?"

Katrina continued to look over at Wolfie and she had to smile a little. Not many people saw that smile, but she was comfortable with this guy.

"Oh, come on Wolfie," She stated as she poked him with her foot, "I imagine you thought the same thing about me when we first started talking. You do not have to deny it." Kat was proud of her title and she would continue to be just as she was.

Katrina could not help but smirk at Wolfram, "I have my ways, but then you really do not have to hide anything from me"

The only other person Kat talked to was Hugo and that did not happen a lot after hours because they were in separate houses, even though Kat thought he should be in this one.

Kat rubbed her neck a little over her tat, every once in awhile it did bug her.

"So anything else you would like to talk about, or would you like to go to bed?"
